Car breakdown under warranty
My car broke down and Caitlin at Spectrum insurance services was excellent in liaising with my garage leaving me nothing to do. She also kept me up to date on my claim making the whole experience effortless.

Spoke to Lois today as I hadn’t heard…
Spoke to Lois today as I hadn’t heard about booking my car in for a rear tyre sensor which had been authorised 2 weeks ago.
Lois was sincerely apologetic and got onto it straight away by contacting the garage. She explained to me the reason behind it and again couldn’t apologise enough.

I’ve recently had to use my warranty…
My son recently had to use my warranty for a fault with his car and so far I’m really impressed with Spectrum Car Warranty Insurance.
I first spoke to Emily, who was brilliant — really helpful, friendly and explained everything clearly. I had to call back to change my payment method and, although I didn’t get the other lady’s name as I accidentally ended the call, she was just as helpful.
Really smooth and hassle-free service so far. Hopefully the claim continues just as smoothly!

Warranty worth its salt……
Just had a call from Andrew to let me know that the full cost of my claim was going to be covered by Spectrum.
In any dealings with them customer service has always been top priority, they have been prompt, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for an extended warranty worth the paper it’s written on!

I bought my car from CarGiant 2years…
I bought my car from CarGiant 2years ago.
I looked under the car and I asked them to look at what I thought was oil leaking on the bodywork. They kept it overnight and had mechanics look at it then confirmed that there was no oil leak.
In June this year I suspected an oil leak as my oil kept disappearing.
I called Spectrum and they said they that they were declining my claim because I suspected an oil leak a previously when I bought the car therefore I should have made a claim back then and its too late now.
I have driven less than 4,000 miles in the 2+ years that I have had the car.
I have since taken the car to 3 different mechanics to resolve this suspected oil leak and they had all confirmed that the car is not actually leaking and it was dry.
If Spectrum had bothered to look at the car they would have saved me time and money.
The last mechanic also suggested that the oil I saw upon buying the car may have been from someone spilling it whilst topping up.
The last 2 mechanics confirmed that the oil was disappearing due to a wet belt issue and it would need to be replaced.
Again I called this warranty company Spectrum and AGAIN they declined the claim with another excuse stating I should have replaced the wet belt previously therefore they cannot take on my claim.
I asked 3 times whether they cover the wet belt and the lady did not answer, she just kept asking irrelevant questions like what was the name of the garage I took the car to and what else did they say and ‘lemme put you on a brief hold’. Just so she could find an excuse to say, sorry, we cannot take on your claim.
No matter what issue I would have with the car they would “decline my claim” because they know they had no intention of fixing ANY fault.
When you call them, the most that they do is record and document everything you say, put you on hold to “consult with someone else” to make it seem as though they are getting information. Then they come back eventually to say, “Sorry, we have to decline your claim on this occasion”. What they should have said was, on this and every occasion!
What a waste of time!
The best thing CarGiant could have done was shut down. I bought 3 cars from them previously and they were using AA Warranty-No issues no problems claiming with them at all.
As soon as CarGiant went downhill they used this backstreet insurance company who are clearly out to just take your money and then decline every claim.
It's funny how ALL of their 5star ratings were made in August 2026 and coincidently mention advisors names…😏
When I checked in June there were none and had mainly 1 star reviews.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with your experience, but we would like to provide further context about the decisions made and the questions asked during your calls. When you contacted us in June 2026, you explained that you had noticed what you believed might be oil on the vehicle when you purchased it approximately two years earlier. You advised that Cargiant retained the vehicle overnight and found no oil leak. You also told us that low oil was identified during a service in August 2025, that the oil level had continued to reduce and that you had needed to top it up. Spectrum had not been notified of these concerns before June 2026. The warranty states that a fault must be reported to the claim administrator as soon as practicable and, in any event, within seven days of its occurrence. Based on the information provided, the reported concern appeared to have existed for a considerable period before it was reported to us. This was why we could not treat it as a newly occurring fault. When you contacted us again in September, you provided different information. You explained that three mechanics had found the vehicle to be dry and that there was no external oil leak. You also advised that two mechanics believed the oil consumption might be connected to the wet timing belt, with the most recent garage saying that the belt showed wear and required replacement. We do cover wet timing belts, but their replacement is not automatically covered simply because a garage has referred to a “wet-belt issue”. Cover depends on what has happened to the component and the cause of the problem. We must establish whether the belt has snapped or suffered a mechanical failure, whether it has deteriorated through wear, whether it has caused another component to fail, or whether a garage is recommending routine or preventative replacement. This is why our advisor asked what had prompted the garage visit, whether there were any warning lights, what symptoms the vehicle displayed, which garage had examined it and what had been diagnosed. These questions were necessary to establish the cause of failure and whether there was a valid claim. They were not asked to find an excuse to decline the matter. The warranty also states that timing belts are covered provided they have been changed in accordance with the manufacturer’s time and mileage requirements. For this vehicle, the stated replacement interval is 64,000 miles or 72 months, whichever occurs first. The vehicle was registered in April 2019, so the time-based interval was reached in April 2025. During the call, you confirmed that the belt had not been replaced while you owned the vehicle. Low mileage during your ownership does not remove a time-based maintenance requirement. Spectrum cannot determine the cause of a problem from a suspected symptom alone. Under the claims procedure, the repairing garage must diagnose the cause and provide its findings so these can be assessed against the warranty. We would also like to correct the suggestion that Spectrum was only used by Cargiant when its business was “going downhill”. Spectrum administered Cargiant warranty claims for more than five years. This was a longstanding arrangement and had no connection with Cargiant subsequently closing. Finally, we firmly reject the allegation that our reviews are fabricated. Our Trustpilot profile contains genuine customer feedback submitted over a number of years, not only during August 2026. Customers may be invited to leave an independent review after contacting us and may naturally choose to name the advisor who assisted them. Our reviews reflect a range of experiences: 67% are five-star, 7% four-star, 2% three-star, 2% two-star and 22% one-star. We do not create, alter or falsify reviews.
