I bought the Stolt Athlete bag as a hybrid running commute and every day work bag and I’m so impressed! I love the cleverly designed compartments and sections and once it’s secured on it doesn’t budge when I run at all, a game changer to fitting in marathon training with my
Daily commute!

Got the bag today and I’m already in love with it! You can just feel the quality! I can’t wait to properly get to know it.

I would’ve given 5-stars, but I deducted a star for the lack of an update vis-a-vis the late dispatch (which appears to be a common issue, judging my other reviews). But shoutout to Keijo. He called me back, kept me updated and the bag was delivered on the day he said it would be. And it seems late delivery is the result of quality assurance. So, fair enough!

Anyway, I love the bag and the customer service is good (not perfect).

I placed an order on 01/08/2024.

At the time I was aware there was a delay in sending out the bag and it would be dispatched during the last few weeks of August.

Late August came and went, with no bag received. I was then informed there had been an issue with the quality of the bags which needed to be fixed, and I would have a bag sent out to me no later than the 26/09/2024.

Again, this date came and went with no bag being sent.

Then in late September, another email informing me there had been yet more issue with the bags, and they would be sent out in a ‘couple of weeks’.

It’s now 4 weeks later and nearly November - still no bag, no update, no one answers the phone their end.

Gutted and embarrassed as I this was supposed to be a birthday present for my partner. At this rate I doubt it will arrive for her next birthday in August 2025

Can’t actually comment on quality of the bag but it’s quite foreboding given the seemingly constant issues with quality control. Ridiculous when you consider the price I paid in the first place!

I purchased a backpack 6 weeks ago. Backpack was supposed to have been shipped 10 days ago. I have emailed and called customer service to confirm when the order will be delivered and had no response. Contact number went to voicemail. I only received a response once I posted a trustpilot review but thereafter the bag was delivered promptly.

Ordered the bag (August 2023) after good reviews online on running website but the straps broke within a few months. Emailed and called the company but no response.
Update
Got a response and the founder of the business has called me and was clearly keen to fix the issues and was very apologetic. Offered a number of solutions so will be testing out a new bag. One call totally changed my perception about their customer service and will update rating after a few weeks of trialling the new bag.

Bought an Athlete backpack about 2 months ago and have been using as a daily runner work commute bag.

I had high expectations given the price and online reviews but did not regret purchasing it. It's very comfortable, well-made and well thought-out. The slidable waist straps, location of the laptop sleeve, padding, the front clip - everything feels like it's in the right place. Easily surpassed my expectations and it looks great too.

Slight delays on delivery due to issues with UK customs that were out of their control, but they took the time to notify me ahead of time.

Highly recommend for anyone trying to combine their commute with a workout.

I purchased the athlete commuter set, unfortunately the bag just wasn’t for me, the bag just wasn’t very comfy to wear. I emailed for a return and eventually got a returns label. Due to personal reasons I was unable to send within the 5 days before the return postage expired. I then paid the return postage myself to the same address and have confirmation from Royal Mail of delivery. I’ve advised stolt on the same returns email chain but I have yet to receive any response or refund after multiple emails. I’m hoping this review may get thier attention where my emails are not. I don’t really like leaving a review like this but £155 is alot of money.

Update: Keijo has followed up with me directly via email. I really appreciate it and he has refunded me. I’ve altered my rating as a result, he bag was very nice but just wasn’t right for me.

I've had this bag for about 2 months now. I wanted a bag that I could run & cycle with, with a chest & waist strap, waterproofed, etc and one that was not an overtly 'commute' bag - and Stolt delivers! I bought the Athlete Backpack - had great customer service (thank you Keijo!). I never find bags that have big enough side pockets to fit my big water bottles, and this one fits my big metal 1 liter Frank & Green one.

My *only* little issue with it is that the shoulders can dig into my neck when the chest strap is attached when running - I have found this on the 13km and the 8km runs I have done with this bag. This is nothing that can't be solved by pulling up top up whenever it happens, but could be worth having some extra padding there? Regardless, I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor for not getting the bag.

It's rare nowadays that you really feel that you have gotten value for your money and I really feel like I have gotten that with this bag. Stolt have really considered the casual athlete experience with this bag. Safe to say, I recommend!

Fantastic experience from ordering through delivery, and most importantly performance. Product consistently delivers day in/out and in the most comfortable running backpack I’ve ever found. Could not recommend high enough.

Stolt have created a fantastic product! I bought the Athlete commuting set. I’ve been using it for about a month and I am really impressed.
What sold me on the Athlete backpack is the quality, comfort and size combined with the versatility. I typically cycle to work, but sometimes I cycle there and run home. I work in a traditional office environment in Mayfair (jeans and sports gear are not considered work appropriate!). I was tired of getting to work and finding my work clothes wet from the rain or wrinkled. I was excited to try this backpack because it would keep my clothes clean, wrinkle-free and dry (rain cover included!). Plus, it looks as smart as some of the backpacks made by very high end luxury luggage companies. The running belt is detachable so on days I want to run home, I leave my bag at work and run home with just my phones in the belt. I needed a bag that was roomy too. I often cart around my clothes, heels, makeup bag, packed breakfast and lunch, laptop, phones, etc etc!

For years I commuted with a leather messenger bag because it did the job. I typically don’t like to spend money on new things when I have something that works. When I saw how high spec and good quality the Stolt Athlete bag is, I decided to get it as a “back to work” gift for myself after some time off work. I’m so glad I did.

The bag is very comfortable, great quality and Stolt’s customer service is excellent.

I recently purchased a Stolt Running bag, primarily for carrying my heavy work-issued laptop on my daily commutes. Having put it to the test on a 9K run each way just yesterday, I'm absolutely thrilled with its performance and feel compelled to share my experience.

Firstly, the bag's design and build quality are second to none. It's evident that a lot of thought has gone into making this bag not only functional for runners but also comfortable to wear over longer distances. The weight distribution is excellent, and despite the considerable weight of my laptop, the bag felt secure and balanced throughout my run. And didn't get in the way of my arms or legs.

Running with a heavy load has always been a concern, but the Stolt Running bag has completely changed the game for me. It's reassuring to know that I can now comfortably and safely transport my work essentials on foot, aligning perfectly with my active lifestyle goals.

I did notice a slight rubbing at the bottom of my back on the return journey yesterday, but I attribute this to needing to adjust the straps. It's a minor issue, and I'm confident that with a bit of tweaking, I'll find the perfect setting.

Also, the pre-sales team where outstanding in helping me pick the best bag for my needs.

I ordered the new Athlete backpack when it was in stock and I am very impressed with it. International delivery took some time but I was kept well informed and the team was very helpful. The product itself is great. It’s still perfect after 6 months of daily use. I already had the clothes box which fits in the backpack perfectly when travelling. The rolltop lock is cool feature and the bag has a similar laptop pocket with small pockets than other Stolt products. Great for running, cyckling, travelling, all of it.

I purchased the Hylo Athletics Alpha Backpack from Stolt in 2023 and have used it both in everyday work commuting as well as business travel. Its pretty amazing to be able to fit both heels and running shoes in the bag and still carry it in a comfortable and ergonomic way. Not all bags suit a shorter person like myself so I can only congratulate the designers!

The team is going to take a look at my bag for defects and send an alternative to try in the meantime. I'm impressed by the customer service and commitment to providing a high end product and experience.**

I bought the Stolt Athlete Commuter Set late last year. With a promotion and new customer discount it set me back about £135, although it's now listed at £198.

I really wanted to love it. I've been looking for a while for a bag that I can wear on my run into the office (10k or so), and also take to client meetings. The Stolt Athlete seemed to fit the bill perfectly.

I'm really disappointed. The bag has some great features but it's let down by poor design and low quality materials. After a few weeks I've given up wearing it to run. It's also not very comfortable to wear while cycling. It looks great as a city rucksack but there are similarly styled bags for much less money.

My main issues are:
- The shoulder straps keep coming loose. They're thin and don't have the friction to hold properly in the fasteners. I have to tighten them every few hundred metres as I run. I've not had this issue with other running bags

- The flat back padding, reinforced by a laptop in the laptop pouch, doesn't sit comfortably at all when fastened tight for running. There's no moulding to the shape of the back

- The hook fasteners for the shoulder straps and waist belt are fiddly and keep coming undone

- The fastener for the roll top is high quality and secure BUT the strap is nowhere near long enough. It won't close unless the roll top is folded down fully, which defeats the value of a roll top for adding capacity to the bag

- Most of the strap system feels cheap and lightweight — especially the chest strap, shoulder straps, and elasticated bands around the straps

- Minor point, but the elastic velcro band for holding a laptop in place is too short to fit round the size of laptop the bag is designed to hold

There are plenty of things to like about the bag. It looks really good. The clothes box is a nice concept. I really like the laptop pouch.

But ultimately I paid a premium price because I wanted something that would 1) feel premium in quality 2) look smart and 3) be good to run in. Sadly this bag only meets one of those three criteria.

The Stolt Alpha is outstanding. Here is a company that has thought long and hard about what is needed for a successful run commute. They then built it with high quality materials and craftsmanship. Thanks to Stolt and some max cushioned shoes I’m a runner again. Worth every cent. 6 out of 5 honestly.

Great product! I did something like 1000K of commute running with it in all sorts of weather, packed to the fullest. I am very satisfied with it. Also, very nice customer service. Maybe just one potential improvement: the belt pockets are hard to use while running, especially for a larger phone for example.

Great products, yes on the luxury side of back packs but worth the investment. I bought the stolt athelete complete pack with all the extras, really useful bit of kit. Great size for one night. Padding is great. Materials feel really nice and good quality.
I emailed after my order and they communicated straight back and resolved my issue.

Bag delivers exactly what I needed, compact but fits a fair amount in (I carry laptop, cables, kit, shoes, lunch and water bottle in), stylish enough, comfortable for running and feels very light to carry, mainly due to where it sits and fits on the body than being particularly lightweight material. Also excellent service and experience in the ordering and delivery.

Fantastic durable product, great service. Would definitely recommend for all, runners and non runners especially for your commute.

Just the nicest back pack ever. So cleverly thought through. And the best customer service. I managed to order the wrong bag in the wrong colour and it was all sorted with real people who responded quickly to my email and delivery was fast too. I cannot recommend Stolt Running highly enough
