My passport was expired and could not update it via either website or app. After calling Vatfree, this issue was quickly fixed by customer support, Katja. She is friendly, professional and paitent. With her help, we get to know how the newly launched, NL Customs Vax, works and successfully got digital stamps for all our purchases in Netherland right at the airport. Very grateful for her help!
Vatfree的網頁跟app在我們旅遊期間都無法正常使用，幾年前辦的帳號因為護照過期也因此無法自行更新，最後是透過客服後台處理，並且耐心解釋2026年新上線的NL Custom Vax操作方式，讓我們所有在荷蘭能夠退稅的消費都順利在海關拿到數位簽章且收到payout確認信，不過因為網頁(app持續閃退）無法更新信用卡卡號，還需要另外IT support解決。
如果是跨歐洲的消費，NL Custom Vax不會出現紀錄，輸入護照號碼只會出現在荷蘭的消費，因此歐洲外的消費還是得拿到實體退稅單及海關實體章，最後投入退稅公司各自的信箱。

I went to the customs office at the Netherlands airport and processed my paperwork via the app and had it validated at the customs office. I have not received a refund of the completed vat claim.

However, we have not yet received a payout request from you, nor did we receive any email or call from you regarding this matter.
As previously explained in the email we sent, the refund is not issued automatically. To receive your VAT refund, you must complete the payout request by following the steps outlined in our message.
For privacy and security reasons, we are unable to request the payout on your behalf, as this requires you to confirm your personal bank details directly in your account.
Please follow the instructions provided in our email to complete your payout request.
If you experience any difficulty while doing so, our support team will be happy to assist you.

Dit bedrijf hanteert een veel hogere fee dan waar ze mee adverteren.
Bon bedrag 899,65 btw 21 procent
899,65l/1,21 is 743,59. Btw bedrag 153,16. Hun fee 27 procent van het btw bedrag. Dus wat ik hoor te krijgen is het btw bedrag x 0,73 is 113,99. En ik krijg 94,98
Dit doen ze dus bij alle bonnen.

Dank voor uw review. Het is jammer dat er verwarring is ontstaan over de btw en service fee. We hebben inmiddels per e-mail contact met u gezocht om de situatie en de berekening van uw btw-teruggave toe te lichten.
Onze service fee bedraagt 27% van het btw-bedrag dat op de kassabon staat vermeld (maximaal €90 per bon), precies zoals we communiceren. We hanteren deze fee altijd correct en er wordt geen hogere vergoeding gerekend dan geadverteerd. In dit specifieke geval is de afwijking ontstaan doordat een weborderbetaling op de bon geen onderdeel is van het btw-bedrag voor de aangekochte artikelen. Wij hebben dan ook het btw-bedrag op de aankoopbon als basis genomen voor de berekening.
We verwerken al jarenlang succesvol btw-teruggaveverzoeken en streven er altijd naar dat onze klanten correct en volledig geïnformeerd worden. Mocht u nog vragen hebben, neemt u dan contact op met support@vatfree.com.

All Tax-Free companies charge service fees, and ours — 27% with a minimum of €2.50 and a maximum of €90 per receipt — is currently the lowest on the market. For larger purchases, our unique maximum fee can actually save you hundreds of euros compared to other providers.

To clarify, our team has been in touch with you before and explained that, for us to process a VAT refund, a photo of the purchase receipt with a customs stamp (official proof of export) is required. Without this, we are not legally permitted to proceed, no matter how much we’d like to help.
We successfully verified your account and guided you on how to provide the missing receipt, but without it we cannot move forward. If you still have a photo of the stamped receipt, you can always send it to support@vatfree.com so we can process your claim.
As for our service fee: vatfree.com offers the lowest fee available in the market, covering the complex process of liaising with stores, customs, and handling secure payments.
We regret that your experience left you dissatisfied but unfortunately, without the required stamped receipt, we are unable to assist further with this claim.

At the end of the process, says Send the receipt by Post
To be honest, this is a joke and not the app
A person that left EU, has to send receipts by post
On top, identity was verified in airport (which higher security we are talking about)
Whoever made this app, process - please release yourself from your duties. You should not be working on this, and should do something else
This is not a good process, literally more waste of time where everything looks automatic.

We understand how frustrating it can be to be asked to send original documents by post. Unfortunately, in certain cases, this step is required either by the Tax Authorities or by the store involved.
There are a few reasons why you may be asked to send original receipts and/or Tax-Free forms by post, including:
- You have Tax-Free documents from a different Tax-Free provider. In such cases, we are required to request the original receipts to help prevent double registration and fraud.
- Your receipt exceeds a certain threshold amount, which triggers additional verification.
- The store does not want to work digitally
- The Tax Administration obliges us to perform random checks for fraud prevention.
Please know that this is not the standard process for most claims. We aim to make the experience as smooth and digital as possible for our users. However, in specific situations, we are legally required to follow stricter documentation procedures.

Customs refused to stamp my receipt for VAT refund but Anne from VATfree was super helpful!
Made a purchase in Brussels and for odd reasons not clearly explained to me, the customs officer refused to acknowledge it with the export stamp I needed to claim VAT.
I wrote to VATFREE about it and after 2 weeks of emails back and forth and with the help of the boutique. They managed to verify and approve the refund. Anne from customer service was super helpful, kind and sincere in all the emails. I'd be happy to use this company to process all my refunds from now on.
Also photos of the stamped receipts uploaded are used for verification so there's no need to find the box/mailbox to make sure they receive the hardcopy. Much faster and more convenient than other tax refund companies.
