Job applicant here: Shocking translation of my CV, 100% inaccurate. Recruiters: please avoid if you want to hire the best
As a job applicant I received a confirmation which included details scraped from my CV by Workable. I can honestly say it was an appalling conversion and completely inaccurate. It listed as my headline a role I last performed 20 years ago. None of my most relevant experience was listed.
My conclusion is that if you are an average applicant who submits basic CVs in a tired, old-fashioned way then you will be fine, as Workable will probably translate your CV accurately. So mediocre candidates will be favoured.
However, if you are a bit smarter and want to stand out from the crowd, with a CV that is fit for 2024, and not 2004, Workable will not do you, as a recruiter, any favours.
So, a simple plea to any recruitment agencies out there, do not believe the sales hype. Stop using automated software. Hire genuine talent spotters and not automated software if you want the best candidates applying for your roles.

Workable is the Worst
Our company spent several weeks creating job listings and learning how to use the workable site. It was not easy but we noodled thought it. There are a lot of features and most things are not user friendly. Our company is not a consumer facing brand, so we did not have a website and they would not approve our job postings with out one so we created a website. This also took a couple of weeks. Once our new website was live we then went back to workable and still could not get the site to allow us to post a job. We contacted customer service and they were useless. We got excuses like, "we cant talk to that department" and "there is nothing I can do" and "no there is not a supervisor you can speak with about this issue", and the best of all, "I am sorry but there is nothing I can do". We left a thumbs down on the user chat and suggested in the comments section that workable use its service to hire more helpful customer service agents. Within 15 minutes we were sent an email that our account had been cancelled. Good luck if you choose workable, they don't care if their site does not work for you, or that they have unhelpful customer service. If you don't like it they will cancel you.

Account suspended for no reason
Created an account and a job listing, started receiving candidates, only to have my account suspended two hours later. Support stonewalls you and doesn't give you a reason. Wasted half my afternoon trying to figure out what the hell was going on. Switching now to a competitor, good riddance.

We feel; 1) they are DISHONEST, IMMORAL SCAMMMERS using dumb, useless software designed by incompetent, clueless clowns who have made a nightmare of a website that we found to be infuriatingly complicated, faulty, senseless and misleading to try and navigate through. 2) Their so-called "free trial" for posting jobs seems to be a totally misleading fraud, 3) they used several tricks including claiming by a deliberately vague email with no explanation or further info that our recruitment ad did not "meet all the requirements for job boards".
They ignored all our messages for assistance, live chat people were totally unhelpful, arrogant and clearly coming up with several well rehearsed lies and excuses before disconnecting us, never answered their phone number, ignored our emails. Ludicrous and criminally dishonest in my opinion to force us to pay for our advertisement when they promote a “free trial” in big letters. They seemed at the time as if they would have thousands of job seekers as customers, but that seems a total lie and sham in retrospect. So reluctantly we did pay for the advertisement, and surprise surprise, the exact SAME ad was accepted and supposedly made "live" on what I would describe as their useless and senselessly complicated/confusing mess of a website.
We normally receive around 40 applicants a day when our job vacancy ads go live on the big job sites. This farce of a so-called business managed ONE applicant in 4 days and the person who applied was totally unsuitable. We then requested a refund and not only did they ignore those requests too, but they shut down/blocked our account so we could no longer get access to anything, including communication with them. Total disgrace. We will be taking further action.
TOTAL WASTE OF OUR TIME, PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THESE PEOPLE, I TRULY BELIEVE THEY ARE IMMORAL, DISGRACEFUL CROOKS WHO SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN BY THE FINANCIAL AUTHORITIES AND JAILED.

Watch out - dodgy subscription tactics.
I posted a job. When I signed up I the plan said it would only charge for when I had an active job. Once I had finished recruiting I took the job off live. However I was still charged. I was told it was because it was I had not archived the job. It's clear to see I have not used the service in over a month, but they will not refund because I didn't pick it up for a few weeks. Happy to pay for a service I have used, but I made best endeavours to take the job off the websites and I did not use the service so I find charging for a clear misunderstanding just unethical.

Nice ATS but could be so much better
We've been with Workable for 9 months so far. We like them they have a lot of pros but at the same time I think there are areas that could improve and make a huge difference.
Pros:
- We love having everything related to the candidate in one place. And being able to have the entire hiring team able to collaborate in one space is excellent
- Easy to navitage for hiring managers
- My favorite feature is the ability to email candidates directly from the software. It's a great way to keep yourself organized especially when you are emailing a dozen candidates.
- Easy integration
- Great quality of mobile app - many of our hiring managers are on the go and find this very useful
- Customer service is top notch, quick and very helpful.
Cons or Suggestions:
- More automations: So far we've been looking at some others ATS in the market which can offer to add automations to the stages, not just emails but interviews invites, to dos, send surveys, etc.
- Scorecards: This is one of the key non-biased
scoring system and yet in Workable is very basic and can't be customised. We are potentially thinking of moving to Pinpoint as they offer scorecards based on interview sections and highly customisable with numbers, faces and colours making it much more visual and more robust in terms of assessing a candidate at any stage. This is a big thing as hiring managers are finding the scoring/interview quite basic and not describing the full picture. This could be a deal breaker for us as we are reaching a year and considering other choices in the market.
- You can't compare profiles side by side or scorecards.
- Talent Pool: it's a bit basic and lacking structure.
- Job adverts: We are a international company and after covid turned into remote work. We find we want to have many job adverts across many cities but you need to dupicate adverts. Other ATS are currently offering typing remote and multiple cities or countries in one job adverts and this is very appealing.
- Make some features from the application form answers only visible to Admins and/or hiring managers.
- Dashboard: It would be nice when connecting to have an overview of your open jobs, incoming interviews (calendar), new applications, some generic pipeline metrics shown.

Can't submit application for Dangote Cement
Hello, Ive been trying to apply for the job of Head, Learning and Development/Talent Management at Dangote Cement, Obajana, but after filling all the fields, I can't submit as the "submit application" button is not functioning or operable thereby making it impossible to submit my application. Help ASAP.

Catastrophic UX/UI, very unclear offering
I have just signed up to Workable with big hopes. I got utterly disapointed with its complicated UX. I literally did not know what I am doing there.
Pricing was very confusing as well.
Then they sent me email that they are unable to post our job ad anywhere, without explaining reasons why and how to fix the issues.
I gave up using with within 5 minutes.
Workable idea is wonderful but they desperately need to fire their product managers and UX designers, and hire more talented ones. It's pity their whole potential is wasted with this terrible UX.

A recent upgrade with Workable has significantly improved our efficiency in hiring. Noticeably though, our account manager (Kushal) is absolutely brilliant. He's extremely knowledgable of the platform and aways going out of his way to be as helpful as he can. The management of our account is significantly better handled than any other HR/recruitment tech we use. Their customer service team is similarly hot on the replies and quick to resolve out queries.
There are some things that could be improved on the platform, such as feedback loops/scorecards - but overall we are very happy. :)

Workable has changed the way track and refer applicants within our business. We are now able to report on what happens, where from and make it a transparent process.
Quick and effective help
We've been using Workable for over a year now and I never had to contact support until today. I was expecting to wait a long virtual queue as in all the other sites but this time I was first in the line! Eleftheria was kind and replied to my doubts in a very easy to understand manner. I'm impressed and happy to know that in the future, if I have any query about their platform I'll receive such a warm help. Really well done team :)

Great system that does what I need it to do...
Workable is the only ATS I've set up from scratch at Crowdcube and I haven't looked back.
I've used clunky systems like ICIMS and Taleo and even a custom built ATS when I was in agency and I've had pretty horrendous experiences with each. They just weren't user friendly and certainly wouldn't be right for the size of company I'm in.
Workable enables me to hire efficiently and cost effectively.
It's easy to keep track of and communicate with candidates, scheduling interviews is a breeze, and posting jobs to relevant boards is really easy.
It was super simple to set up and I was able to literally flick a few switches to make sure we were GDPR compliant.
There are a couple of things around interview scorecards which can be a bit challenging, such as enabling multiple people to provide feedback from a group session but not giving them full access...But
generally speaking my frustrations are more around user error...my user error!
Overall it's great system, that does what I need it to do for the stage if company I'm in.

Way better than Lever!
Workable is an awesome ATS which has saved a huge amount of time and effort for me and the rest of the Talent Team. They are continuously adding new features and integrations that add a lot of value.
It's intuitive and easy to use for non Talent team members as well, which is really important as we want our hiring managers to be fully engaged in the process.
The reporting is very good, giving you the ability to analyse your recruiting pipeline, productivity, time to hire, etc. right out of the box. Their API is also very well documented and allows you to build it into all of your other workflows and enables significant automation.

Workable helps me recruit well
Workable is an ATS that has consistently enabled me to do my job: hire great people, quickly.
It's recently updated UI is simple, upfront and I can see at a glance everything that is going on with my open roles. I've never struggled to train even the most tech-phobic/stubborn hiring managers on how to engage with it: their feedback has always been positive and they've loved the transparency of knowing what I'm up to, and being able to add comments in to keep recruitment moving.
I've found the customer service excellent - quick and helpful. Shoutouts to Nick in sales, and Rob in product who have been super helpful at various points.
In the interest of a balanced review: where it sometimes falls down is reporting (which is not particularly sophisticated), approval pathways (don't exist, that will be a pain point for Enterprise/US orgs from my experience) and pipeline customisation (easy to add stages in, but I can't take them out) - tweaks to these would be a great touch but they aren't must-have features for a candidate-focused recruiting team.
If you're a company who needs something quick to implement, easy to maintain and use to make hires Workable gets my vote.

Tried all the systems, always come back to Workable
I have used Workable, Greenhouse and SmartRecruiters over the past 6 years with different clients, but I still *always* come back to Workable.
There are several reasons for this:
1. The product is simple to use, easy to customise and quick to get up and running. This means that for SMEs, there is very little in the way of setup required to get recruiting, or to start reviewing the data. I love it as a recruiter, CTOs love it for managing processes and CEOs love it for the quick data snapshots.
2. The customer service is exceptional. They are quick, helpful and get things sorted at speed, that said, it’s been a rare occurrence to need them as the product is so easy to use.
3. The speed of managing applications - easy to review, takes on a lot of the admin freeing me up to make decisions and work with internal stakeholders.
4. The quality of the mobile app - all our stakeholders now use the mobile scorecards to swiftly review candidates leaving little lag in decision making.
5. The speed of updates - Workable always look to get customer insights and improve the product quickly, this has been a real winner for us in terms of seeing upgrades.
This is just a snapshot of the reasons I like to use Workable, but overall, the quality of the system, the simplicity and the price are unbeatable in the market.

We are really big fans of Workable here…
We are really big fans of Workable here at Drover - it's changed the game for us when it comes to talent acquisition. Workable integrates neatly with a number of job boards and honestly for the majority of our roles, all we have to do it post it and qualified candidates start showing up. We love being able to customise our pipelines for each role. We also love the native reporting function which is really quite advanced - we rarely ever use Excel for any recruitment-related data analysis. Our account manager Myra is wonderful and always responds super quickly when we have a question / request. Overally, very happy with the product and highly recommend it to any startups / scale-ups.

Medium - Large companies... DONT TOUCH THIS SYSTEM!
The biggest mistake I made was choosing Workable as my company's ATS. Perhaps for small businesses/ start-ups of 30 or less people it's good but for a medium - large sized company it's useless. Reviews by tech leaders are factually incorrect so don't believe what you read. It's sold its customisable but in terms of truly customisable ATS systems I've worked with previously Workable IS NOT CUSTOMISABLE: you can add additional fields but cant change the fields that exist. As for approval chains forget it - if you have more than one approval pathway in a department Workable cannot be customised in this way. The Sales guys are straight up dishonest... whatever you do question everything they say. For a medium or large company I wouldn't touch Workable.

Unreasonable change of pricing model
I've used workable in two different companies and the overall experience has led me to recommend it to my current company as well. I strongly supported the features and I felt that the product takes away the friction from hiring.
Since we wanted to open up several positions, we contacted workable for a price quote. Unfortunately, we've been met with a very different sales model that the one I was used to. I felt that the new sales model was based on a top-down pricing instead of a bottoms-up pricing.
Of course, it's entirely up to workable to change their sales model as they see fit. It is their right. At that time their pricing page quoted a $99 per job per month price which oddly was very different to the model we were introduced to - and was also cheaper than the custom quote we received. When we inquired about that, we were told that this would change very soon and we had only until tomorrow if we wanted to go and grab that price.
Well, the pricing page still shows $99 per job per month until the time of writing of this review and it's been weeks since we were told that it was going to change "tomorrow". I feel that it is not a good practice to try to create a sense of urgency while saying something that turns out to be false. That left me with a very bitter taste and despite the fact that I was one to highly recommend workable to my new company, I was also one to retract my recommendation. We tried another ATS and we went with that.
