Collection team tricking users into recurring penalties

The reason for the 1star review is due to the fact that the bank collection team has tricked me into understanding that outstanding amounts won't result in additional interest if I made a payment plan, but instead a debt of 12000 AED resulted into almost 8000 AED penalties due to late payments. Hence i don't recommend this bank to anyone at all

1. No statement
2. Have to check in app for the amount pending and almost all of the times app is not working , (I really mean it ALMOST ALL OF THE TIME)
3. Poor customer service
4. Comparing to other banks services are slow, inconvenient

Citibank is not cancelling my credit card

I have been trying to cancel my citibank credit card since December 2020 !!! They are not taking my order not with phone not with email, so how ?! I don't want to pay a penny anymore to this bank and I don't want their services. The are the worst in the world. They are making things very difficult and I don't have time to deal with them. Although I cover the whole amount still they are sending uncomprehensible small amounts to oay for the card and payment notifications also being sent only 2 days in advance before last payment due date to be able to charge the late payment assessment to the card owner. This is how they make money.

Be careful with Citibank UAE

Be careful with Citibank UAE. This is the worst bank I've dealt with. They are fraudulent! I've inquired with them to get a credit card upgrade and they sent me an email that it would cost XX AED upgrade cost. So I accepted it and BOOOM all my 80.000 Citi points are gone. Obviously, they didn't inform me about this before, and surely they won't re-instate the points.

Bunch of crooks. I'll take all my money and go to another bank.

There is no American customer service, everything is a fraud you’ll never be able to pull or withdraw your money out

One of the worst banks in UAE. Customer service and hotline are unreachable at this year where almost all banks has improved alreadtly. Delayed OTPs and codes.

The worst bank

The worst bank . Very poor online service. I have the worst experience where by online amount transfer was not processed for days risking check bounce leading to legal penalties , impacting ontime Utility Bill payment to avoid disconnection and my orher financial transactions.
The customer service was only giving hope but no quick fix to avoid penalties and uncertainties that I have encountered due to poor service.

Avoid this bank at all costs!! read

The worst bank ever! why simple they are unable to respond to clients with answers to simple inquiries, they deliberately, avoid answering emails by stating the enquiry is being addressed on the 4th day after the email is sent to avoid missing their own service level agreements. Their online portal regularly logs you out and any use of punctuation is rejected on the messages. They have an option to allow your messages to be sent to your own email address and this never works. The time taken to process entries is the longest of any bank I have used in the UAE and I am with 4 banks. The call centre is polite however totally useless as nothing is addressed on the 1st, 2nd ,3rd or 5th time of calling. Call backs are rarely followed up. They just don't care.
Finally, if you try and transfer money out of the country using an IBAN number it doesn't work, so don't get caught out!!!

This is by far worst bank and credit card that I have ever encountered with.I made a complaint regarding my credit card 2 weeks ago and never got any reply.
They sent me the credit card statement where there is one fee stated and for the remainder of the amount not a single word!So basically one has to pay whatever the amount they put on the statement!
Ridiculous!

Worst service I have ever experienced…

Worst service I have ever experienced never recommend to anyone , I made payment by mistake in cancelled credit card and request two times and mention I need refund urgent but no reply from them and when I called after 5 days they said they will make request again and have to wait more 5 days and will provide manager cheque as they will not refund in my account and will deduct 25 AED they only want to take advantage of your problems wish I can give rating in minus.

If there was a below rating I would have used it. i have banked with Citibank AE for 13 years and I hardly needed anything from them except having a saving account/ current account / debit and credit card that I have closed 1 year ago due to the astronomical charges they hiddenly applied. I have asked to change my debit card to a touch one given the covid restrictions and they have completely mishandled it. they are using Mpost who are extremely incompetent. my card has been with the courier company for 2 weeks and me having to use my foreign account to pay for things and been charged currency exchange fees in the meantime! Citibank did not lift a finger to help with the delivery. they refused to reissue the card at my own expense and they refused to let me pick it up from the branch claiming that they only offer delivery services. they never call me back even-though I have placed 30 odd complaint requests without any luck. their phone customer services are as useless as a gum on the wall!! Extremely frustrated with all of this. Moving my account away from them today!

In a world of technology and customer service, everything you all Citibank for, the standard answer is we will get back to you in 2 working days.
And guess what .... when you call them again 3 days later because there's no answer, they say someone will get in touch with you in 2 working days.
How can you be so bad at customer management?
Useless. So bad of you guys.

They gave me a cold shower of a month…

They gave me a cold shower of a month while I was abroad and had my card blocked. I had difficulties to buy food and pay stuff having to ask help of friends. It feels terrible once you know you have the funds and didn't need to go through this struggle wasn't for the terrible assistant provide by citibank UAE on messenger and email.
I was very patience and polite at the beginning and during 2 weeks. But once I couldn't hear or get in touch with anyone to help I decided to spread my sorrow.
I don't doubt citibank CS policies, in fact once I had access to call the phone service it was marvelously sorted.
But staff are miserable on messenger and email channels. There was no decency or empathy with my claim and the struggles I was going through. I also heard from other friends the terrible service receive on this same channels.
It is not an easy job I am sure, but if you chose to do it you must do it right.

My Review as a recent Citibank UAE account holder.

1. Debit/Credit cards: Samsung Pay not supported.

2. Mobile App: No integrated digital key generation like Authy/Google Auth. within app.

3. Website: No way to save transfer history for re-occurring local credit card transfers.

4. Transfer Fees: Fees apply to Citibank to Citibank commercial accounts. Not free. Website advertised Citi to Citi transfers as free.

5. Website/App secure messaging: Basic limited messaging system for support issues.

6. Website/App online support: No text chat based support.

7. No way to start account opening procedure online with Emirates Smart Card at home with smart card readers or fingerprint biometrics for validation.
