I painted my new shed last weekend with 2 coats of cuprinol garden shades. After an evening of rain last night I have discovered that rainwater has permeated through the shed walls. The paint is described as water resistant so I feel like I have wasted my time and money. Ended up giving the shed a third coat of the paint which has proved to be a little better in weather protection. Probably would not use again.

I bought Cuprinol Shades Natural Stone and Pale Jasmine. I wanted to paint the body of my Summer house in the Natural Stone and the windows and doors in Pale Jasmine. I painted the body of the Summer House today and it’s CREAM ! I’ve done 2 coats and it’s fine except it’s the wrong colour !! Now my Pale Jasmine will barely show up against the cream ! I think it must be Country Cream in the tin. The Natural Stone colour chart is a complete mid-representation of what’s inside the tin otherwise. I literally had this weekend to get the Summer house painted before the guys laying my new pavers and new lawn are coming on Monday. I’m so exasperated and feel I’ve wasted my weekend painting my Summerhouse the wrong colour.

Based on great experience with Cuprinol ducksback previously on my shed; which has lasted 6 years, decided to go with it again. Unfortunately the same colour was not available in our garden centre, but they did have something similar called ‘delicate pine’. Well! The colour difference between the finished product and the example on the pot is almost laughable. If I cuprinol don’t know how to represent the preservative’s colour, what’s the point of putting it in the pot?

CUPRINAL GARDEN SHADES 6 YEAR WATERPROOF PAINT.this outdoor furniture paint is a total joke. it fades very much in 2 years. never mind 6 years. it is a high expensive paint, nicely packaged but the performance is totally lacking. it bio degrades so quickly. if my furniture needs repainting every 2 years then how is that good for the environment.

Update: As requested in their reply below, I have submitted photos of the fence and the can showing the batch number, to the manufacturer.
We have used this successfully over the last 10 years, every time we moved house, the last successful time was in 2017, which was just about needing renewing after 5 years. For the price, I considered that good value. However, in September 2022 I purchased 15 litres and treated all the various fences at our new house. After just 1 year, most of the product had completely washed off a very weathered fence, and after a further year, the other two fences, one of which is quite new, look awful, with bare patches and peeling. This time I've chosen an alternative because I can't trust Ducksback any more, the effort to paint fences has to yield a reliable result.

I got through about 3 large cans of this stuff hoping the fence would last for 5 years without maintenance. Expensive job! It didn't last even 2 years. It took weeks of hard labour painting this on. Don't waste your time and money. I'm sticking with good old fashioned cheap wood preserve (Creosote), which at least is absorbed into the wood to provide weather protection. Cuprinol is a paint and starts to visibly wear off in 1 year. It therefore provides no protection in terms of preserving the wood.
I wish I had read the reviews here first rather than believed the 5 year guarantee! The company should not be allowed to make such false claims. Fortunately I used the dark brown so re-doing it later with Creosote won't be as awful as if it were a green or a colour. Recommendation is: stay away from this rubbish!

I have used Cuprinol for many years . I have bought three cans of white daisy all from Amazon in two diff orders and it’s rubbish compared to the cottage cream I bought from a diy store. I have spent £200 on 4 wooden planters for my front of house which needs a make over and hoping they would last a long time but not with white daisy on them !!!! Like watercolour paint . No waterproof feel to it at all and I’ve done three coats . I have just painted 6 panels also in fresh rosemary and even though runnier than it used to be it did cover in two coats ! I am now looking at other makes ! Shame

Painted my fences last year Ducksback herring grey looked great at the time but soon as the weather changed so did the fence colour it started showing the wood through the grey. I put this down to Maybe my wife hadn’t put enough paint on so this year I painted the panels the ducks back seamed to suck into the panels and had good adhesion and coverage but now a month on I’m back to where I started it’s as if it’s just washing off again so back to wood showing again if I was using a cheap eBay 20l for a fiver then I would accept it but you pay a premium for these brands so you should get a premium product otherwise you might as well paint it with cheap emulsion if it’s only going to last till first rain fall. Just for reference the panels where 1 1/2 years old to allow any treatments to weather and settle down before painting

Bought Cuprinol garden shades in dusky gem opened both tins today to paint garden fence and it was just water any paint I tried to stir up looked like had split, it splashed over my trousers as running down the handle of stick that I used to stir it. Had used a different colour summer damson yesterday and it was fine Just normal paint.

Cuprinol fence harvest brown applied to fence and left to dry came back following day to give second coat to find it had all run making my fence look terrible very disappointed with this product it don’t do what it says on the tin now I’m left with a terrible looking fence due to this paint

Studied all Cuprinol shades before choosing Fresh Rosemary to paint outdoor garden gate. Shocked, as the colour looks blue, not anywhere close to the shade on the tin! In fact, the colour is exactly like another shade, Coastal Mist! Not happy with the colour as we wanted more of a green not blue! Really frustrating!!

Used Cuprinol Forget-me-not to update our garden table. I rubbed down the wood and applied a good primer. Gave the table three coats with Cuprinol, but the primer is showing through. Gave at least two days between each coat. Today, I placed a plastic basin on the table, and when I removed it, bits of paint chipped off! I have used Cuprinol before on a similar project with no issues. The paint is watery. Having taken hours to prep the job, and three days with the top coats, I am going to have to redo completely.
Hugely disappointed ☹️

Autumn brown shed and fence protector now very thin and fades very rapidly after 2 coats.
Used to last at least 2 years, now fade within weeks.
what's going on ?

Goes on well and seems to give a lovely finish but I've painted about 20 panels in ducksback and it's coming off in numerous places after less than 2 years. The panels I painted it on were all brand new and bone dry (done during dry spells during the summer). I thoroughly brushed off any sawdust etc that you get with new panels before painting too, so can only conclude that the product isn't upto the task which for a major brand who specialises in this sort of product is a real let down. Definitely won't last the 5 years they claim so if you read this before purchasing I would recommend looking at other options

Cuprinol garden paint, bought a week ago to paint summerhouse. Stirred it but still like water going on. Splits and is nothing like the quality of previous years. Won't be buying it again. Two coats but same colour as previous but can still see marks through it. Waste of time and money.
One the 14th I submitted photos of split paint on summerhouse, barcode and batch as requested by cuprinol, voucher being sent to replace paint as a gesture of goodwill, hoping this will go on better. Thank you for a prompt response to customer issue.

So disappointed this time using it about 6/7 years ago I used this brand to paint my fence rainbow and the paint was amazing and one small 1 liter pot done a large panel but this time using it one tin dosnt even cover the panel once and what is on there is going to need a good 3 coats minimum even though it’s the exact same colour going on top won’t be buying again now they have changed the ingredients of the paint recommend trying a different brand this is now like water

Bought Cuprinol natural stone 2.5 litre garden shades in B & Q to paint the inside of our timber summer house. This paint was ridiculous it’s like water and just seems to split as your painting it on, no matter that I wiped the brush it still runs down the walls and I needed 5 coats to cover it. I won’t be buying this again.

We bought 4 tins of ducks back dusted Aloe and two of the tins are a lovely green colour the other two have turned out blue so I now have half my garden green and the other half blue, I thought the paint would dry the same colour but it hasn’t so I now have 18 fence panels that I have to repaint as it looks dreadful, how can paints be different colours when you have bought all the same colour, i am gutted I have to repaint, dreadful paint

Cuprinol Garden shades, Seagrass, recent purchase, I have used C-Shades in other colours for many years and found it durable and trust worthy! Recent new tin and the paint is thin to watery, dripped like mad, yes two coats definitely required. Previously I have been able to let the paint dry and apply a second coat the next day? Applied in excellent conditions this last weekend. The recent rain has tested it - useless!! Not holding water off, it has bubbled and peeled, the door will have to be completely redone.
Walls of the shed done in a C-Shades I have had for 2 years and that has done an excellent job!
I have contacted Dulux with my complaint and photographs.
I will use another paint next time, extremely disappointed.
