Spammers who do not honour unsubscribe requests
I used David Clulow Opticians when they traded as John Lewis Opticians. However since they have started trading under their own name they have sent me several emails and despite using the unsubscribe option each time and emailing them directly twice they keep emailing me. This is a worrying disregard for GRPR regulations and customer confidentiality, so if you value your privacy then go elsewhere.

This store? The Nottingham Branch! Wow. It’s phenomenal. The optometrist? I think her name was Iqra - wow. What a service. Never been so comfortable with an optometrist before, the level of detail she went in to explain each part of the eye test was great information. The store staff were great too, Ruby, Lumi and Leanne all were really good. I delt with Lumi through the selecting process and with Ruby for the style service. Everything was very good. Huge props to the optometrist, I’ve used the normal high street before and they’ve been awful, never had an experience like this before. Thank you Iqra and the rest of the guys!

I went to the Stratford Branch and I didn’t think the lady who did my test was treating me with equality, as she was treating the other lady so respectfully and giving her time to explain things. She treated me differently, as she gave me a dirty look and took me to the room to do my eye tests, wasn’t being informative about that and she kept on asking me to show her my pervious prescription. And I didn’t think she was professional at doing her job. Made a massive alteration to the prescription and gave it to me, which I won’t be using. I also booked AI Glasses Demo for Ray-Ban, but she didn’t even show that to me.

Of all the high street Opticians, David Clulow are the best, well that's what I think. Attentive, caring and simply very good and that is the experience I had from the staff in the branch in the John Lewis Store in the Westgate Centre in Oxford.

5 star service
I have been coming to this opticians for over 2 years now. They have always been helpful and patient with me, even when I have been difficult. They Always outlining my options and try to help me with any situation I have.
They have the best options for glasses I have seen in Cambridge
Everytime I enter I am greeted with a pleasant warm smile.
The customer service from the top down has always been of the 5 star service. This is demonstrated by Chris the manager and followed on by his colleagues especially Taz and Lauren who seem to have to deal with my problems and queries often.
I would say that they are the best in Cambridge and worth visiting yourself.

Appalling Service
I shall try and keep this brief. I bought a pair of Chanel glasses frames over 2 years ago (at the time of my complaint, I'd had my glasses for 21 months). They gave way at the bridge when I was putting them in the glasses case (something that has never happened with any other pair of glasses I’ve ever bought) so I went into the DC branch I'd bought them from to get help at John Lewis, Cheadle. At that time and since then it's been a catalogue of disgraceful customer service; from being disbelieved and virtually accused of lying, to repeated attempts to try and get some kind of help with my issue, being directed to the wrong place for help, incorrect websites, being told by the manufacturers of Chanel frames (Luxotica) they couldn't help (which I expected), to logging a formal complaint against David Clulow and the branch manager and requesting a response within 2 weeks what seems like months ago, to being told a month after logging it they'd now passed it to the correct team, to asking for a copy of the complaints procedure and the correct email address to contact, to being told the team would be in contact with me, which they haven't - weeks have gone by. I have no idea what to do or who to go to. So, I have had no choice but to come to TrustPilot, next stop to go back to the Optical Consumer Complaints Service (who I've already been to and they provided me with advice on how to proceed, which I did and nothing has happened) and social media. Absolutely disgraceful customer service. I will never go to David Clulow again. And I will certainly never be purchasing Chanel frames again. Maybe someone from the company can respond to this review?

Brilliant service
Brilliant service. I had to go back a few times because my new glasses were uncomfortable, but Aisha in the Battersea branch (apologies if I’ve misspelled your name) was patient, professional, and sorted the issue by changing the nose pads. They’re now really comfortable.
Great selection of glasses. They’re on the expensive side, but worth it for something that’s built to last, and the free replacement if they break is a nice bonus. Recommended.

Lost all faith with this company
I had an eye test as part of the Style plan and agreed a free reglaze.
The first set of lenses that came in were wrong and I couldn't see well enough to leave the store, so an additional eye test was booked for a week or so later. At that eye test the prescription was changed again and new lenses ordered.
The second set felt better but after a few hours of having tunnel vision, feelign sick and other opotical issues i returned. A thiurd eye test was carried out on that same day and the vision in my left eye (wearing the new lenses) was worse with them than without - whch was causign the issues.
The optiican set a new prescription and also remeasuered and chaged the focal point for the varifocla (which was soemthing I had queried from the first eye test).
I delcined the new prescription lenses as I cant afford to take another day out to go all the way especially as by now I had no confidence in David Clulow Nottingham.
At least I've still got my old lenses that work better than any of the updated lenses they tried to fit.
All of the staff there seemed to try and say that everything must have been my fault - they were adamant they hadn't made any mistakes, and didn't seem to want to believe there was anything wrong.

At the John Lewis store in Welwyn Garden City the in-store experience was very good with a range of glasses that suited me and clear explanation of all the options. When I went back to order they warned me just how long I may need to wait (thankfully they arrived earlier!). I was served both times by Caterina, whose knowledge and manner were first-class.

I have ordered prescription sunglasses…
I have ordered prescription sunglasses online twice, on the 28th of April and the 22nd of May, both times my order was accepted, however both times it has been cancelled by David Clulow despite both showing progressing after the orders were made, I was advised initially it was a technical issue on the first order, although what this issue was I was never told, I was then told to reapply and was given a discount code as a way of a apology by the lady who dealt with my initial query, I then placed my order again as advised, only to have the same issue happen again with the latest order, have attempted to contact them to find out what is happening but I have received no response to my emails and neither have I received a refund to my account for the cancelled order, their customer service is non existent
Following contact from David Clulow and the response they gave, I am surprised but grateful for their offer, it shows that the companies do still care about their customers and the service they offer, have amended my response to show this

Great optician
Great optician, Versha seen at Moorgate. She was very thorough and took time to test my eyes fully. The staff outside were very helpful too.
