Customer service is great

Finematter has an incredible selection of jewellery from a huge selection of talented designers. I recycled some old silver jewellery with them and used my credit to replate a sentimental ring given to me by my father and also used the credit to buy a necklace with some birthday money given to me by my mother. Siobhan, Head of Customer Experience is super helpful and went over and above to help me with my queries and purchase. Such wonderful customer service and beautiful jewellery!

After entrusting Finematter with my cherished necklace for gold replating, my experience turned out to be nothing short of a nightmare, which is somehow continuing months later. Not only did my necklace get sent to the wrong city on its way back to me, but the company's response was staggeringly inadequate and my “2-3 year gold replating” has only lasted 6 months.

The Lost Necklace Ordeal: My piece was somehow sent to an entirely different city upon its return to me - right street address, wrong zip code - a result of complete carelessness. Despite Finematter's assurance of resolving the issue over the course of 15 days, I found myself playing detective to track down my own necklace, eventually traveling to another city to retrieve it without any help from Finematter. They also didn’t provide a tracking number until I asked for it.

Communication Breakdown: The fact that their customer service is based in England added another layer of frustration due to the time zone difference. This limitation meant I could only correspond once every 24 hours, significantly prolonging the resolution of my predicament.

Misleading Service Practices: Months later, I discovered another unsettling fact - Finematter's policy is to not replate the metal type of my necklace, which was only relayed to me when I reached out to their customer support about my necklace tarnishing after 6 months. This crucial piece of information was never communicated to me, despite them gladly accepting my payment initially. Their response was to reinforce their policy, which was never communicated to me by Finematter when I first submitted details of my necklace or sent the necklace in.

To be fair: The customer service person is very nice and they did attempt to remedy the lost-jewelry situation by refunding the cost of the replating and offered me a gift card. I was grateful for that and hoped to become a Finematter advocate. However, upon the most recent discovery of the 6 month tarnishing and poor upfront communication on their policies, I am strongly discouraging anybody from going through the hassle of working with this company.

Conclusion: My ordeal with Finematter has been a series of disappointments and frustrations. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and subpar service quality make it impossible for me to recommend their gold replating service, especially if you are based in the US.

My earrings look even better than I remember them looking when I first bought them! Finematter have completely worked their magic and I couldn't be more delighted. The process was so easy from start to finish, Finematter were friendly, communicative and reassuring throughout. I will definitely be using them again and am telling all my friends about them.

I’m so pleased with how my necklace turned out. I had it re-plated using the renew service and it honestly looks like a brand new piece of jewellery. I couldn’t be happier. Such a quick turnaround and wonderful customer service. I will definitely be using this service again for my other pieces.

The simplicity of ordering the gold plating for my family medals and the results were just awesome! I wish there was a way I could attach the before and after photos, but trust me... they're beautiful!

Wow. Just wow. I was unsure so only sent one bangle bracelet with a lotnof intricacies. It came back absolutely stunning and probably more valuable than when I bought it. I will definitely be using Finematter again. Oh, and such fast turnaround!

I absolutely was thrilled, and my expectations were exceeded. I turned in a necklace (gold chain with two pendants that had tarnished) with a ring (also tarnished). I frequently wear them all together and they were not originally the same karat of gold but following FineMatter replating they're absolutely stunning. I love how beautiful and consistent the shine is throughout the pieces and how rich the color is. I will absolutely use FineMatter's services again.

Thank you Finematter for providing such an excellent service. My necklace was replated and returned within four days. The necklace looks like new. I also appreciated the emails that I received saying that, firstly, they had received the necklace and then that it was being dispatched for return. This gave me considerable piece of mind.

I love Finematter and have used their repair and refresh services etc a couple of times, which was a great experience and I left a glowing review.

I recently went to use their services again and was really disappointed to see they have now switched to UPS as a courier, and now you have to print your own label. I don't live anywhere near a UPS drop off point and I don't have a printer either, so I was extremely disappointed to find this out and it will be a massive inconvenience to have to pay to print the label and have the parcel collected, on top of a steep increase in the price of the services.

I won't be using the services again after this unless they revert back to using Royal Mail and sending out the packaging and labels with it. This was so much more convenient and an overall better experience.

Hi I had a sterling silver pendant for 12yrs that oxidized from a bad cleaning machine so I needed to replace it. I found & bought the exact same sterling silver pendant from 4 or 5 different store's & had to send every single one back because they all oxidized within days. Then I saw this site & I'm so happy I did because not only were they able to plate my pendant now it's 14k White Gold 3x & it has got the pretty shine & look I could have never imagined possible!
