I opened my 1st savings account a few weeks ago. I’m neurodiverse and struggle with many similar things - I’ve spoken and had support from several members of the team and all have been exceptional in knowledge, actually doing what they said they would, patience, and general attitudes. This building society reminds me of how customer care and service used to be - it really is extraordinary and I’m so pleased that I found them.
For anyone like me not great with computers and form filling etc I’m sure they will find a team and organisation happy and able to support through the necessary processes.

Easy to set up, slow with payments
It was easy to set the account up as required and access it. The problem is the slow rate at which payments into it were applied. One payment over the weekend did not show up until Monday lunchtime. How much interest was lost in those 2 days?
Opened a fixed rate bond.
I have recently opened a savings account. Their website is easy to navigate. I phoned their customer services for support, as there was something I did not understand. I was greeted by Emma who was very helpful, polite and pleasant and, above all, understood me. Also, I only had to wait about 10 seconds for the phone to be answered which was reassuring. It's a pleasure to save a little with MHBS.

The application to open an account was simple and straightforward.
Fabulous service on the phone from a real person.
I had got my MHBS password wrongly recorded and this necessitated a phone call for assistance. This was not something I was looking forward to as I'd had some poor helpline experiences recently, but..... wow!
My call was answered very promptly by Alicia and what a breath of fresh air she was, so wonderfully clearly spoken, a warm and friendly greeting and oh, so efficient! No confusing questions, everything was straightforward, succinct and reassuringly pleasant. Alicia was a fantastic ray of sunshine and made the phone call a pleasure.
Based on this fabulous interaction I opened a new savings bond as I felt reassured that if I had any queries there would be someone friendly and competent on the end of the phone to help.

First time being a customer AND being apprehensive about being scammed. The last person that I spoke to was patience and professionalism personified for which I am truly grateful, thank you!
Importance of the human touch vs online rigmarole
I needed to call the Customer Service department a second day in a row. Once again, I received a truly rare first class service. Emma who stayed with me while I navigated glitches on the online form was both efficient and incredibly helpful and kind.
The 5 Stars are for the human service received, but I'm afraid the online site is far too fussy and not adequately clear. I understand the need for security but it should be coupled with customer convenience as well.
Pros and cons
Positives: excellent customer-facing telephone assistance with online account access. Bond application process also refreshingly straightforward. Negative: as an existing member of the society, found the subsequent account verification/approval/opening process inexplicably slow.

Applied on line for a savings account
Applied on line for a savings account. Was contacted by phone shortly after and told there was an issue with my application. Totally my fault and I hadn’t changed the year from the preset so my date of birth was wrong. She told me I could reapply but also told me they’d added new offers that I may want to look at. She was right and the new offer was better than the one I’d originally applied for. My application was approved not long after and all relevant details sent to me by email. Had no issues logging in or adding funds so a very straightforward and positive experience. I did have to upload a photo of my passport, a bill and a selfie which I’ve never had to do to open an account before but it was very straightforward. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent Service
My query was answered and resolved quickly. The staff member I spoke to was extremely friendly and personable. Excellent service.

Jane at the Rothwell branch was very helpful and went the second mile in sorting a transfer for my father.

Superb, person-centred customer service from Laura today. Visited the kettering branch with my elderly father, who doesn't hear very well. Laura explained everything thoroughly, in simple clear terms, in order for my father to make an informed decision. Great, personalised service from a local Building Society. Thank you.

Went in to open a savings account,i knew which one i wanted to open.
Did the tranaction quick and thorough, explained everything and gave me some information about the account l opened. Gave me information on other accounts if in the future i like to open another one.
Andy was very helpful and welcoming as new customer, was satified with my transaction .
