I worked for MIND, and they are as BAD as people say they are
I worked for MIND - do not trust them. Do not, under any circumstances, trust them. They cannot look after their own staff. They have zero interest in the mental health and safety of their own staff, and I have experience of people who have tried to take their lives while MIND managers have not *even once checked up on them*. That is their STAFF, folks. Underpaid, exploited, and patronised as much as their service users. MIND is a scam, should be properly exposed as such, and we all of us deserve very much better.
Great support and help from MIND
I have received great help and support from MIND. They have been supporting me since 2015 and I have always felt supported by them.
Triggering mental health!
Was sighed at by some rude Irish focker within minutes. All the characteristics of a dog but understand and care. I don't need a reassuring voice and some drawling pens. Extremely triggered mental health after call ironically. Luckily we are both safe as I'm a long way away
A totally useless service
I spoke to MIND today to ask if they could help me in any way. I have received a very threatening demand for money I don't owe from a well known quasi Government organisation. This demand was received by email at 3AM on a Saturday morning with no way of contacting anyone until Monday.
I asked the organisation to stop this sort of tactic as they are going to cause a death sooner or later to someone suffering mentally They're not interested. That's how they do things.
As MIND advertise themselves as a campaigning organisation, I asked them for help. At first I was told they don't do things like this. When I persisted I was told it could be passed on to a team leader but nothing would be done.
I was made to feel so unwanted I actually apologised for wasting their time.
A totally useless service.
They will help with low mood, but not with significant mental health issues
I want to start with the lady who was assigned to me was respectful and kind so no words against her however I didn’t find Mind helped me in any way shape or form. All what happened was I had verbal diarrhoea yet no proper in-depth conversations about anything. It’s only 30 minutes per session. I found that there was homework to do and bits of information on A4 paper that I could’ve found on any Google search. They are not trained people to help with real significant mental health issues. They’re just an Ear. My GP referred me to them yet I am no better off than when I started. I can’t remember any significant conversation or help that I could take away with me after my sessions. I cancelled my last as I didn’t find it was helping me. I 100% believe I have more psychological understanding of the human mind than what Mind has.
I went into a mind charity shop and…
I went into a mind charity shop and seen a few bags the total price was £10.50 I only had £10 on me so asked if they would take £10 for the bags no was the answer so fine I left them after thinking about it surely the £10 would of been more beneficial to a genuine charity rather than refusing the sale for the sake of 50p seems like a money grabbing racket won't ever support this charity again so well done
Awful Charity
National MIND are always virtue signaling and begging for more money. Support your local MIND

Took a lot of courage to reach out via text for my mental health.
The person closed the convo within 2 mins of me not replying: nice………….
Absolutely upset!!!
Lost for words with this alleged mental…
Lost for words with this alleged mental health as support business... charity.... service? My GP referred me to Mind twice.
The first time they 'accidentally' discharged me while I was on the waiting list, and they wanted me to go back through my GP. I had to get PALS involved to get it sorted. When I did get on with them, they decided to put me on the insomnia course to help sleep. Okay, fair enough, I thought. They sent me a link for the communal session conducted over the internet, and the link failed to work. I'm fairly tech savvy, so I doubt it was me. When I called to mention it the next day, the couldn't have cared less, and basically said I'd have to begin again another time, and it fell through from there. It strikes me as a scam. Do they get more funding for people enrolled but nothing deducted for patient discharge? Because it seemed to me they weren't at all interested in my mental health, and wanted to get rid of me.
Perhaps a year later, I was referred again. This time they said they couldn't find a suitable course for me. I mean seriously, what do they actually do?
Unhelpful and dismissive, do not donate money to them
Unhelpful and dismissive. Mind, North London branch did not even reply to my email containing distressing information and call for help. They are not fit for purpose and should be shut down. Do not donate any money to them, it’s money thrown into the mud as nobody benefits from it. Staff treat people asking for help like pests. It’s sickening to have this type of service in the so called first world democratic country.
Mind is not fit for purpose
Mind is not fit for purpose, most help I have sought over the years has been ignored, it seems the organisation is not what it once purported to be, if you find a branch that can help you're extremely lucky!
Local Mind branches seem to be there as part of the revenue cash-cow with any funds raised going to the central/head office so much so that Dudley Mind disaffiliated from it's branch on the site of the local mental health hospital in 2021, such is my disillusion with mind I have lost any faith in their supposed services/help that I've not sought help there to this day despite the disaffiliation, it's left a deep scar of lost hope.
How does this supposed charity keep going? must be the advertising campaign convincing well meaning individuals to part with their cash? whatever it is it's doing nothing for Mental Health, someone somewhere is getting rich from the charitable public/businesses, it's so wrong to give hope by name only leaving those looking for help with none.
Hampshire Mind Rude, Not Helpful
Emailed Mind Hampshire asking if they knew of any affordable councelling sessions below the £55 per hour mark. Their response was abrupt and so what rude. They responded saying they do not know of any heavily discounted or free services available. They cannot help me any further.
1) I was not asking for heavily discounted or free services. I was just asking of recommendations for councelling services below the £55 per hour mark. I thought this is what Mind the charity was for, so the general public to ask for help and guidance.
2) The message was just blunt. I thought being mind they may share some tips articles or guidance. They shared nothing at all. Just fobbed me off.
Really shows the state of the economy, highest ever mental health statistics in the UK to date and when people ask for paid guidance (not even free) they are shut down..
MIND Bournemouth - Awful
MIND Bournemouth - shocking uneducated staff - so many charities unfortunately are now money making schemes and not to help those they promise to help. This causes a huge impact on those that need their help and ultimately more distress and damage to their mental health. I wouldn’t recommend anyone try to get help from them or donate to them - which I did for a number of years as I suffer with my mental health. Having interacted with a senior member of staff and being labelled “crazy” and MIND doing nothing about this I can only assume they are a money making business and not there to help people in need!
Dismissive and completely inconsiderate
These people will make your mental health worse!
Trying to push you into full time employment when you suffer serious mental health, accusing you of not engaging if you miss several appointments due to being too anxious and depressed to leave home. I thought mind was designed for mental health? They just expect you to miracously recover and become a normal functioning member of society after 2 months of fortnightly appointments. You're left feeling guilty and useless for explaining how you feel.
I had a similar issue last year with a different support worker! They are completely inconsiderate, they will speak loudly of personal details about yourself in front of a busy setting instead of lowering their voice. (great for anxiety)!!!! Basic respect and boundaries are just NOT there!!
A personal data gathering scheme for profit?
I can’t honestly say that Birmingham Mind were of any help whatsoever. The support worker was emotionless and seemed to be annoyed with me for requiring support, and kept pushing me to fill in questionnaire after questionnaire asking for all sorts of random personal information about myself which had absolutely nothing to do with my mental health (eg. did I want to be buried or cremated!). I got the feeling that they were making money out of me by selling my information on to third parties/businesses, but idk. Why did they need to know what Bank I was with? Any interaction I had with them for the first 6+ months was only limited to filling in more and more flipping questionnaires!
Periodically I was asked to fill in forms assessing my support worker’s performance…with them right there watching me do it and suggesting what I fill in! This is ridiculous, how on earth can you be frank with how bad the support worker is if they’re "helping" you fill the form in? I felt pressured into writing a glowing review in fear that they would take it out on me if I was truthful about how bad they actually were.
Then abruptly I was told that I was being dropped from the service, right when I really needed some help concerning a serious situation. They harassed me into a certain course of action, then told me I was basically on my own dealing with the aftermath. They grudgingly said I could make an application for further "support", then listed all the ways this would be an imposition on Birmingham Mind, how more deserving people were waiting for their services, and how difficult it would be for them if I insisted on still requiring help. I guess because I was getting worse, not better, they thought they’d cut their losses. Well, if they don’t think I’m worth anything, neither do I. I give up. I won’t be engaging with life anymore.
Richmond Borough Mind is awful
This is a review for Richmond Borough Mind. The counselling service is absolutely abysmal. The therapist Sarah Bristow-Bailey, is inept, disorganized, incompetent and clueless. Don't be fooled by her resume, she has no expertise. She has no meaningful experience, and limited practical knowledge of psychiatry. She puts no effort into her sessions, and has no idea what to do, frequently appearing bemused and lost, and has no interest in taking notes or recalling anything. What little attention she does pay, she responds with vacuous canned phrases and laughter. That is how bad she is. She does not even maintain the professional persona of a "therapist" during sessions, frequently breaking character. Also she prioritizes herself and her needs, focusing more on planning her diary than putting any effort into her sessions. I also witnessed her interactions with other clients leaving as being cold and inhumane. On top of that she is culturally insensitive bordering on racist. This woman should not be involved with anybody seeking mental health support. Plus Richmond Mind does not accept any responsibility for the poor behaviour of the therapists. The excuse that the organization offered for her missing sessions was her inability to use email. This is unacceptable in the 21st Century. The woman who runs the service Dorothée Bonnigal-Katz, also has a massive ego, and does not even accept any complaints or criticisms. Overall Richmond Mind is a complete waste of time and money and a horrible place to visit for anybody seeking help in their lives.
I have had the misfortune of dealing…
I have had the misfortune of dealing with MIND twice. The first time, a rude woman on the phone told me "We can't help, sorry" and simply hung up.
The second time was a lot more complicated, but briefly, I was under the care of a crisis recovery worker and after my sessions ended, was told I could re-refer back.
Long story short, I did re-refer myself back, only to be told that MIND won't help me again, because they don't have the staff.
Maybe if they spent more time actually helping people, than posting to their social media and doing fun runs, they might have time to actually support people. Avoid if you don't want to make already complicated mental health problems, much worse.
bad very bad .
This company is infamous for refusing SAR requests. Don't bother going to them they are not good. They are just after your money. Go to a reputable organisation with qualified staff.
‘Mind’ has been radicalised by the far…
‘Mind’ has been radicalised by the far left!
Not allowed to have your own opinion on things , basically they are trying to remodel you into their own ideology.
No boundaries, respect anymore.
I remember when mind and other mental health charities had time and patience with people and were there for the ‘Patient’ not there own concerns and beliefs.
I don’t see ‘Mind’ anymore ‘because’ of my mental health. They scare me with their selfish agenda.
We need this ‘far leftist’ culture to stop being radical and for mental health services to care about ‘People’ not ‘Themselves’.
‘Left’ use to mean for the people!
Not any more.
A reflection of a deteriorating country ( UK ).
No morality, boundaries, respect.
Radicalism has no place in a decent society.
Beware!
Destructive experience.
My daughter had a series of 8 sessions with a Mind 'counsellor'. She received what sounded like a very basic form of CBT during which she and her 'counsellor' went through work sheets, ticking off exercises. At the end of each session she was asked to rate how effective the session had been - how on earth was she supposed to be honest? It's not only that it was a waste of time - it was also the worst waste of hope. My daughter now refuses to even countenance seeing a therapist because her experience with MIND was so counter-productive that she is unable to see therapy as a potentially useful tool.
