The lawnmower is good. However the raising and lowering handle that adjusts the cutting height does move occasionally and is a bit disappointing

I've owned an electric Mountfield lawnmower for the past 5 years. During that time, it's performed well. Today, it suddenly stopped working. After some careful examination of the machine, it seemed clear that the problem was the power lead to the machine had become internally damaged (probably due over time to the constant bending of the wire when mowing). The solution seemed pretty straightforward to simply cut back the wire to an undamaged section then wire back into the handle section. Having taken the handle section apart, I found that the terminal block which holds the wiring, is sealed with no access to wires and no terminal screws for the wiring. This is obviously designed so that you cannot rewire the unit. I guess the manufacturer will say it's a safety aspect, but it is a simple job to carry out, like wiring a household three pin plug. As a result, the whole machine will have to be scrapped. What a waste. I can't work out if it's just a poor design or something more deliberate to sell more lawnmowers!

Great product

Being Battery Operated is far more functional than electric. I have two batteries which I find sufficient for my mowing needs.
Very pleased with the performance

Great little mower, easy to setup, light, easy to use and did the work with loads of charge to spare. Easy to use website, prompt delivery, good communication. Only gripe is the handle which requires two hands to start and has sharp edges which nip.

Brilliant mower. Worth every penny. The self-drive and roller features are brilliant. Engine is quieter and far more efficient than previous Mountfields. Super, super fast delivery too. I was mowing the day after purchase.

I'm rather disappointed in the mower. I have a kind of hernia so I wanted a ride on mower, not one I had to drag about. But the steering on the Mountfield is so heavy that it's harder to use than my big Flymo. I needed a narrow wheelbase to get to my back garden, but that makes the mower feel unstable except where the lawn is very flat. (We once had a ride on mower with a low seat and centre of gravity, but that's not an option when you are 84 y. o.) I can't see myself using the Mountfield much and will probably sell it as 'as new' in Spring 2027.

Good professional service

Bought a blade boss and the two studs shears off almost emediatly, made of alloy, where as it should be iron or steel!

Excellent value for a tried and tested brand. Have owned Mountfields for many years and never found them lacking.

Ease of been able to find and order the correct part for my machine all up and running once again
