If I could give zero stars I would. Don’t ever do business with this company. I paid off my vehicle in 2024 and have been waiting/chasing my car title ever since. I moved from Florida to Arkansas and made sure all my information was correct. Upon pay off of my loan I never received my title. Every phone call was nothing more than the run around and directed to try other means. ZERO CUSTOMER CARE OR ASSISTANCE. I pray I never ever have to do business with these clowns again and will make every effort not to. Despite my living in Arkansas upon pay off of my loan they released my title to my last known address in Florida and now I am forced to pay the lost/replacement title fees for Florida just to have my title. This company and their customer service is a joke. Find some other financial institution to work with. And yes I did update my address with the United States postal service.

In 2024, I purchased a 2020 Honda at CarMax in Chicago to use for my livelihood. Despite having a good credit rating and being a loyal, returning customer with a perfect on-time payment history,
Santander USA hit me with a shocking 16.98% interest rate. Because I drive for a living and needed the vehicle immediately, I felt forced to accept these predatory terms. Paying on time or paying ahead means absolutely nothing to this greedy company. They use a deceptive online payment system designed to trap you. When I tried to make extra payments toward my principal balance to stop the daily interest from compounding, the system gave no option to do so. When I called customer service, it was a nightmare: The first representative gave me completely incorrect information. The manager I spoke with refused to offer better rates or terms, never once thanked me for my business, and told me, "You are OK because you always pay on time."To actually pay down the principal, the manager forced me to jump through hoops, requiring me to set up an automatic payment and then manually make an extra payment on that same day.
Update (May 2026): Through immense personal sacrifice and strict financial discipline, I used my Social Security checks to make eight aggressive payments of $2,000 each. I have officially PAID OFF this loan and eliminated my debt, saving myself from their predatory daily interest charges.
Santander USA targets working-class Americans for profit. While their loans are easy to get, they are an absolute ripoff designed to keep you in debt. Do not finance your vehicle with this bank—find a local credit union or save money and pay cash instead.

If I could give Santander zero stars, I would. Their my account.santanderconsumerusa.com is totally useless if your account has been paid in full, as you will have no access whatsoever to your account info. Their 800 numbers are just as useless, as you will never access anyone. If you enter your last 6 digits of your SSN or your account number and they are not found, you will not be connected to anyone or anything. You will enter your info over and over and nothing will happen. Santander is pure trash.
After two days of almost 3 hours trying to contact a live person, I finally was able to talk to one person who is an absolute 5. His name is Winner (did not get his #), and he was incredibly helpful. He was abkdd we to locate my account (that the mechanical person could not), took the time to listen to my request, and to get to a positive resolution. I have been having a very trying time this past week, and was fortunate that Winner answered my call. I was able to have my issue resolved, after being told last week that it would by somebody else and nothing had been done. AI may be the rave, but sometimes a live real person makes a huge difference in the experience we have as consumers.
The response contained the same useless number I had attempted several times and where the only response is an automated voice that takes you NOWHERE. The response gets a DOUBLE ZERO!

Honestly I don't know if the problem was with Santander or with the company I went through that required my financing with Santander. I bought a vehicle from a car dealership and the terms of the original loan and financing were pretty agreeable for me based on what I know is not the best credit record at the moment. Suddenly though a week later the terms of my financing were changed and rearranged and I was essentially coerced into signing a new agreement with the dealership with terms supposedly re-established by Santander regarding my credit and then my interest rate. So in general at the moment I am very unhappy with this loan and the terms of the loan and I don't know if it's an issue of the lender or of the dealership, but either way I feel that I was very much the subject of Fraud and trickery and now I'm stuck to a large loan with a vehicle that I do not love or believe has the value that is reflected by the current loan.

Not recommended
I guess this company purchased my auto loan from LendingClub. There was no communication, no customer service. Had I not just happened to notice that the payment didn't get auto drafted, I would have missed a payment. I ended up trying to initiate contact and ended up finally getting my auto pay set up. Their system wouldn't allow me to auto set up a higher payment or a principle payment. My loan pays off in a few months and I will not use Santander. To the company, if you want to leave a reply that is fine. I am NOT taking time out of my day to contact you. I am not responding to any communications from you. You had your chance and blew it. If you want to know how to do better then maybe hire someone to help you.
