This is an issue with the recent Spring cash back offer. I purchased 3 qualifying products with batteries and chargers totalling £1400+. I submitted the Stihl cashback form (1 application for all items as specified on the form) which I obtained from Stihls website and although my application was accepted I have so far only received part of the payment claimed. All e-mails to the to the company running the promotion remain unanswered.
Stihls customer service team tell me there is nothing they can do and have just referred me back the same e-mail address which is not being answered.
Having requested details of Stihls complaint process so that I can take this further, the customer service team has stopped responding.
When deciding which brand I was going to purchase, the cashback promotion was a consideration.
I believe that Stihl should accept responsibility for the process being followed and have a mechanism to address issues when they arise. If you are going to offer cashback promotion, if the full amount being claimed is not paid out there should be an explanation. Generally you can tell how good a company is, by how well they respond to problems when they arise. Sadly Stihl seem to have let themselves down.

Awful cordless products - they use different batteries for different products so unlike most brands you cant use the same battery across products. Choose Milwaukee or ego - they have one battery across all products - stilh will make you but a million different batteries and chargers.

This is about their cash back offer. We purchased a lawnmower and spare battery circa £800. There was a cashback offer which we applied for. We received an email to say “you will get an update within five days”. We did not receive an update. I followed the offer up 6 weeks later, then the next week, then the next week and again the next week. I never received a reply, only an automated acknowledgement.
Now I didn’t purchase the mower just for the cashback, but if you are going to offer cashback you could at least pay it out or even respond to one of the four emails I have sent. You or the third party that are handling this.

Spent nearly £300 on an AP300 S battery a few years ago which I use for my hedge trimmer and strimmer (I have many tools and many batteries). Only been charged about 30 times over that period and it developed a fault! Likely to do with the advanced/unnecessary battery management system.
I telephoned support and they did not want to assist me at all, giving me the whole 'batteries degrade' over time spiel. Local dealer said they can't fix batteries, so a complete waste of money.
Seems that Stihl isn't what it was in terms of product quality and customer support.
Update: Stihl reached out to me following this review asking for receipts etc. which I duly provided. They replied that a £300 battery only lasting 3 years with occasional use is acceptable!
I have been using battery tools my whole life and I know when a battery is faulty compared to when it has reached the end of its life. I don't really appreciating the condescending tone from Stihl support as can be seen in their reply below.

We can always recommend Stihl products. Had petrol initially and changed over to battery as we got older.

Add to that free speedy delivery, faultless performance on this purchase. I have a few Stihl items and they work really well and I now prefer cordless tools and Stihl is my go to brand, they are pricier than other makes but my experience and there faultless performance i feel are worth the little bit extra.

SHE71 Vacuum Blower and leaf collector has a fundamental design flaw - the collector bag does not make a complete seal with the discharge chute as it relies on a webbing strap. As the machine shreds leaves into tiny pieces, they blow out of the join and cover the operator in leaf dust. Nowhere near as good as the original Stihl ES40, so thank goodness I managed to repair the ES40 collector bag - no longer made.

Avoid this mower it is useless. I unfortunately purchased this in January but didn't use it for various reasons until May. On first use the grass was high so the fact that the battery lasted less than 10 mins and the cut was very poor, and it kept cutting out, while bad I accepted it due to the conditions. However when after 7 recharges to cut a medium sized lawn (which wasn't the flatest or have the best quality grass on it) I decided to cut it again, firstly it wouldn't cut at the level I wanted continually cutting out, then on raising it, it again kept cutting out and the battery life only lasted 10 mins.
I'm now left with a very expensive piece of unusable junk I expected a lot more from Stihl sadly disappointed

spent £230 plus on the blower attachment for the combi tool.
barely lasted 18 months. front end cowl lost its lugs and fell off then it rattled itself to pieces.

Reported an issue with a battery. Received an automated response saying Stihl can’t help - there was a space in the response for noting the issue which was even left blank. I think I have made my last purchase at Stihl.

Emailed Stihl re a catcher blade for my hedge trimmer gave model number etc
I ordered on line the part number they gave me for for the relevant part
When I received the recommend part it was 50cm long not 60cm the length off the blade on my trimmer
I had a catch on my long reach Stihl hedge trimmer the same as the one they recommended so I tried fitting that to the machine with a struggle it went on but didn’t sit well so went to remove it had to knock it off with a rubber mallet
All though they say it’s the recommended part
when it’s 10cm short (BODGE) so even they have joined the corner cutting manufacturers

If you’re reading this please do not waste any money on the pressure washers. The hose bursts after about 10 hours use, I’ve had 3 in the last year and they’re pathetic

Bought the Stihl 235.1 lawnmower as a kit, including the AK20 battery and charger. It arrived well packaged, but I found attaching the lower arms to the body quite difficult. The supplied Allen key had a hexagonal head to fit the screws, but it was awkward to use and kept slipping unless I applied a lot of pressure while turning. Once that part was done, the rest of the assembly was reasonably straightforward.
As you would expect from Stihl products, the plastic body felt solid and well made. I used the mower on two occasions and was really impressed with the battery performance. It handled both the front and back lawns, taking about 25 minutes in total, and still had 3 of the 4 charging lights lit afterwards.
The big problem came on the third use, when the front right-hand wheel suddenly fell off. It took me 15 minutes on my hands and knees to find a small cap clip that fitted onto the axle. I pushed it back on, but it promptly fell off again. I contacted both Ron Smith (supplier) and Stihl to report the problem. Ron Smith ordered a new clip for me, which I hope will stay on this time, although it does look like a weakness or possible design fault. After 5 days I had still heard nothing back from Stihl, which I found to be very poor customer service, so buyers should be aware.
Update 15th May 2026
Contacted by Stihl via email and informed they were sending 2 clamps to fit to the end of the axle - one to use and one spare (only cost 53p each). Nightmare fitting it to the axle as I presume its done by machine at the factory. Its on now, but the wheel is pointing at a bit of an angle but it still works and hasn't fallen off yet.
Normally I review the score but in this case going to leave it at 2 stars.
I am new to Stihl products and recently bought a Stihl electric mower RMA 448 V direct from Stihl, just before the Easter weekend, and from ordering through to delivery the whole process went very smoothly. Unfortunately, the mower arrived damaged in transit, the cutting height lever was jammed and couldn’t be adjusted.
We contacted customer services, and Dan handled everything quickly and professionally. He arranged a replacement straight away and organised the collection of the damaged mower with no hassle at all.
Excellent communication and genuinely first-class customer service. Problems can happen during delivery, but it’s how a company responds that matters, and Stihl were outstanding throughout. Very pleased with the experience and would happily recommend them.

I am longstanding customer of STIHL, and wanted to say what a fantastic range of top quality products they have proved to be.
Mainly I have the AP range of Lawmmower, Strimmer, Hedgetrimmer and chainsaw. They have been flawless and very easy to use.
Prior to the battery kit my partner rarely would use it. Now however we share the grass cutting due to the simple starting and low noise.
