I made a small claim on some damage to my vehicle. After countless emails to them, complaints and waiting on the phone for HOURS waiting to get through to people and constantly being told I'm in the wrong queue, I have to rate them A BIG FAT ZERO. I have recently had the displeasure of dealing with Suncorp to close my deceased mother's account.
It took them 9 weeks to respond to each email, they were still trying to charge my deceased mother for insurance payments and sent me letters asking for payment when they already had the death certificate.

The CC is provided to Suncorp via another bank. They never told us this! - Fraud!
To have issues addressed you have to contact Suncorp bank, they forward the issue to the CC department at the other bank. Then it takes weeks and weeks for anything to be done, if at all! When checking secure mail for responses, there is no reference number so if you have more than one issue at the same time you have no clue which issue their message relates to. The way the CC statement etc is set out is very, very, non end user friendly. One of the worst we have ever encounteted. So far as CC issues go, service is poor, slow, unreliable and you may not even be contacted for a response to your querries!!! We wish to hell we had never signed up for Suncorp!!! We are still waiting months on!!!

Suspension, Repair & Structural Concerns: Despite my requests, there was a distinct lack of clarity and comprehensiveness in the inspection and repair reports. Notably, certain critical parameters were left undefined and supporting documents were never provided despite multiple requests. Some alignment measurements exceeded their prescribed tolerances. Suncorp claimed these were to spec but with an absence of manufacturer’s specified tolerances to provide it so. This raised red flags, especially given the recent recalls on this same car make and model due to catastrophic suspension issues.
Improper Vehicle Storage: My car was stored outdoors in the direct sun for over a month, which appears to be a direct violation of the manufacturer’s operating standards for repair. This could potentially cause harm to the battery and other components. The impact on these parts was not addressed or fixed.
Communication Gaps: Expected updates every three days, as mandated by the manufacturer’s operating standards for repair, were flouted. This left me in the dark, increasing my anxiety and concerns about the well-being of my vehicle.
Battery Charging Confusion: I noted discrepancies between the manufacturer’s public guidelines on battery care and the standards Suncorp adhered to. This inconsistency could have implications for my battery's longevity.
Call for Documentation: Despite my continual requests, essential documents like the Confirmation of Transaction and calibration report supporting documents were not provided.
Hire Car Provision & External Verification: While my vehicle's safety and quality remain uncertain, I requested continued access to the hire car, alongside an independent assessment by a third party. Suncorp has yet to address these requests satisfactorily.
Customer Relations Review: Suncorp's internal review by Customer Relations asserted that the car had undergone an independent inspection from the manufacturer, which verified the repairs were consistent with manufacturing specifications. This claimed the car was safe for return. However, the actual Tax Invoice from this inspection simply read: "Concern: Carry out post-accident repair mechanical inspection. Carried out a post-accident repair inspection. Inspected the mechanical components of the area involved in the accident. Inspected the HV system and battery. No issues were found. Correction: Perform General Inspection." This report did not specifically address my suspension separation or alignment concerns. The internal review glossed over these discrepancies and other issues I've previously outlined. What's alarming is Suncorp's Customer Relations department reference to their Lifetime Guarantee, which feels almost dismissive when considering potential gaps in repairs that could be life-threatening.
Regulatory Involvement: Owing to the persistent and concerning gaps in communication and resolution, I approached the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) to lodge a complaint.
2. Emotional & Safety Implications:
The ordeal with Suncorp hasn't just been about the car. It has deeply impacted my mental well-being. The persistent lack of clarity, coupled with the stress of navigating potential safety issues, has been daunting.
Moreover, Suncorp's apparent failure to activate its Domestic Violence policy, even after I made them aware of related concerns, showcases a lack of sensitivity, adding to my distress.
3. Final Thoughts:
I turned to Suncorp, expecting them to uphold their commitments to safety, transparency, and customer well-being. Instead, I've encountered an exhausting ordeal filled with gaps, potential safety hazards, and immense emotional distress. For those reading this, it's essential to make informed decisions. Waiting for customer service on the phone for 1.5 hour and did nothing on my request to cancel my claim. My car just had a scratch and their service provider has the lowest review and bad service in my area. Total waste of my time and money. It's a shame i had to pick one star, as don't think they deserve that. The frauds team are ultimately a secret society that operate on their own time. If you have a "Fraudulent Activity" block slapped on your account, good luck getting a resolution. They will call you when THEY are ready. Additionally, half way through changing over all of our banking accounts to them, they decided that my wife and i were fraudulent and closed all of our accounts. Once again, a call of the frauds team. The untouchable, judgmental team.

Shockingly, the contractor's quote amounted to over $27,000, far exceeding SUNCORP's builder's estimate. When I presented this assessment to SUNCORP, they resorted to disputing the report by their own engineer, attempting to undermine his professional integrity. This unethical behavior disregards the hierarchical structure of the building industry, where engineers' expertise supersedes that of builders.
Failure to Resolve Dispute and Delayed Action:
Frustrated by SUNCORP's refusal to acknowledge their engineer's findings and their unwillingness to engage in meaningful dispute resolution, I sought assistance from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). AFCA enlightened me on the fact that SUNCORP's attempts to disregard their own engineer's report were baseless and unfounded. However, despite the involvement of a neutral third-party, SUNCORP continued to drag their feet, refusing to collaborate and insisting on further assessments. Suncorp is way too expensive. i have been with suncorp car insurance for over 5yrs. in that 5yrs the charges continue to up in price. I never heard a good thing about suncorp prices, that caused me to look elsewhere.

Do not expect Suncorp to care at all about your suffering ect. I had a claim against 3rd party as their client ran his car into a cafe where I was drinking coffee and feeling great. It was horrific and I ended up at the hospital. I got loads of internal injuries, back and leg. They started my Physio then found out I had had a small back issue previously and frozen shoulder so had been out of work at time of accident. I was recovering and had been on a 16 week gym ect therapy for over a month feeling great. Previous to frozen shoulder I worked full time. They treated me like a criminal trying to get money, stopped my therapy and were very mean. OMG they coursed me so much stress my mental state got really bad on top of injuries. Two years later they have offered me a ridiculous amount of money not even covering bills I need to pay because of accident. Shame Shame on Suncorp who I now know to be one of the worse insurance companies you can ever be with!! Beware they can not be trusted to care at all and will make you feel like a criminal while smiling at you. Evil insurance company!!!!!!!!
House insurance claim
House insurance. A year after the floods last March we still have two ceiling leaks and it's still not fixed. Just found out it's decline due to a hairline crack in our roof tile and another concern. Neither were an issue previously. Suncorp agreed to only do ceiling plaster and paint but not fix the roof. We have never claimed before on our house insurance either but will now look to move due to the slow nature and unreasonable decline of half our claim. Our roof looks to be in good repair. They seem to just find ways to get out of it. Were we meant to go up their annually with a Magnifying glass?
Incompetent Customer Service
I have had my online/mobile app and debit card locked since December. It's almost February writing this review and no one, not a single word nor miss call or email has been received from their supposed investigations team.
I was told initially by their phone customer service back on December that I need to go to a bank branch to get it unlocked but like some of the reviews here, they could not do anything, they just sit on their hands. I was told that there was a suspected fraudulent attempt at my account the day it was locked out, when I went to the branch, I told them all those transactions the previous day was all done by me. Brought my identification, proved them that I was the owner of the account, but nothing. Went to another branch, same thing.
What's the purpose of sending a customer to a branch if you can't do anything anyway?
It's like this bank hates its customers. They don't want my money. It's so bad that I can't even close off the account!
DO NOT deal with this bank, all you will get is inaction and bad customer service. They do not want to help you nor care about you. Put your money somewhere else.
I have already sent an email to their complaints team but I honestly doubt it that I will get a reply, that's how seriously I think how incompetent their customer service is.
Credit Card Application
Applied for the credit card and received a phone call requesting additional information to support the application. After providing this the bank officer said the application could now be processed. FOUR MINUTES after hanging up the phone I received an email stating that AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION that my application was declined. I am pursuing this but after being transferred four times to finally end up in an overseas call centre with abysmal line quality, I gave up.
