The Webb 20v33cm mower is good except ….
The Webb 20v33cm mower is good except for one obvious issue which is covered in numerous reviews on the QVC website. The motor cuts out because when the pull-up starter handle reaches the foam padding protector to the horizontal push handle as it cannot be pulled any further. If you pull the starter handle very tight, the problem largely goes away. Like others, I was going to return the mower, indeed QVC was happy for it to be returned but I’d already appreciated that it was much lighter and was cutting the grass without grinding into the soil. I suppose if I had say 100sqm of lawn to mow, it might have made my shoulders, arms or hands almost cramp up. But if your lawn is under 50sqm you can run this mower over in less than 10 minutes. The battery is good to go, just change it over to the strimmer or do the strimming first, both jobs can be completed within one charge of the battery which slides comfortably into the fixtures. I’m not going to remove the padding on the push handle but if I did, I suspect there would be no cutting out of the motor. I think Webb might have already realised that by now!

Anyone got any ideas, short of scrapping it (but I'm tempted) ?

Purchased for £300 43cms mower when worked, great, lasted just one season. A load of rubbish.
Awful product
Awful product. Not built to last
Half a summer before motor burns out, should have kept my corded lawnmower. Do not buy there products they won’t last
Awful , avoid at all costs
Rubbish they miss sell a so called warranty, I used my mower 6x through out summer, and the handle broke on the weld, it was only 6 months old, when I tried to claim on there so called warranty webbs said it was my fault!!! How can it possibly be my fault thats clearly a manufacturing fault... they then went on to try and sell me the handle!!
Will never use this company again, avoid at all costs, I have reported them to trading standards too
Disgraceful Service
Disgraceful Service. I had a Webb 58cm Walk-Behind Vacuum & Blower delivered on Friday and I assembled it over the weekend. I tried the engine out but after a couple of starts, the pull cord was locked in place and would not move. I spoke to a Webb 'Customer Service Agent' who was extremely unhelpful and directed me to a company who he told me look after B & S engines. They knew nothing at all about any warranty deal with Webb or B & S. I went back to the 'Customer Dis-Service Agent' and he 'verbally' shrugged his shoulders and told me he could do nothing for me. This machine hasn't even been used other than the original two test starts
I purchased a WER18HW4 self propelled…
I purchased a WER18HW4 self propelled mower, wish I hadn't bothered, the clutch on when engaging the drive is so vicious the mower takes off at great speed with no ability to use slow speeds and the main concern is either the wheelbase is too short or the collection bag is too long, when just over half full it tips the mower up with the front wheels off the ground so makes it very uncomfortable to use as you wind up not only steering it but holding the handle up to try and keep the cutting blade level with the grass, will have to sell it on as it does my back in.
Webb Eco Lawnmower Review after 6 month use
This is a decent product for the price. I've had it for 6 months. My previous was a Hayter 42 petrol mower. NB You should not be buying this (or any other battery powered lawnmower) to 'replace/compare to' a petrol mower and expect it to be the same. They are not comparable - just like a horse and a car aren't comparable.
Battery powered mowers are typically made of lighter materials (eg plastic) this makes them easier to manoeuvre / carry and allows for increased battery time. It also makes them less robust, less powerful and in need of more recharging in big gardens. It's just a fact. My lawn is approx 100' x 100' and was quite long and wet at first cut. It needed 3 cutter heights to get the grass to where I wanted it.( Even with my old Hayter it took 2 cuts -because long wet grass can clog ANY blades). This took about 75-85 minutes total and the batteries did the work on a single charge.. (You need to let the blade get up to speed and use slow steady steps or you will suffer blockage. Batteries need time to FULLY charge (4 hours first time in my case) and then less than 1 hour re-charge per time over the summer. I typically cut every 7-10 days which is one cut in about 20 minutes but after 2+ weeks holiday it use 2 cuts / 45 mins at different heights. Both worked on a single charge. My Hayter service at the local mower place (which I did every 2 years) cost me £140+ VAT. Webb batteries are £30-50 each and I can fit them myself. Do I miss my lugging around my heavy metal Hayter that started (almost) every time with a couple of pulls on the rope?? Yes, but only because petrol engines are cool and manly and plastic battery powered mowers are not. I bought the 43cm Webb Eco with a 50ltr bin.
Cheap and very nasty
Simply the worst lawn mower I’ve ever owned… obviously this once prestigious brand are simple buying cheap Chinese crap and badging it up.

Decent Mains Electric Mower
I have downsized house and also by necessity lawnmower: from an old large Hayter self-propelled petrol mower to the "tiny" Webb ER33 RR Electric Lawnmower. I didn't expect much but for the price and it's size, it is doing a reasonable job of cutting the lawn. I think the rear roller is a bit of a gimmick but, as advertised, it does enable me to mow up to the flower bed without the wheels falling off the edge. I don't like the "quick fold handles" and the cut could be a bit better BUT for a small lawn, it is fine.
WEBB ELECTRIC MOWER Don't cut the cable
Purchased a new Webb WEER 40 electric lawn mower with a two year warranty last year. In March 2024 shortly after purchase accidently snagged the cable so to make it safe I purchased a lawn mower cable repair kit.
In March 2025 mower stopped working. Took it to a repair specialist under instruction from Webb. Took and age for the repairer to look at it and now Webb say ten weeks later warranty invalidated as the cable had been cut accidently and was repaired. Webb very abrupt when I eventually got through to them as they had originally refused over the ten weeks to talk to me as they said I had to deal through repairer. When asked if they had an internal complaints procedure so I could explore options and maybe negotiate a satisfactory outcome they said no. I asked for the contract number for the senior person or managing director only to be told look it up on companies house yourself.
Mower worked ok for a year then packed up. I find it very hard to believe because the cable has been joined by a recommended method they will not honour the warranty as the mower has failed after a year with the fault not related to the cable repair.
So beware and check before you consider a Webb Mower.
Light weight
Brought the webb 43cm eco battery operated lawn mower to replace our petrol mower which was to heavy for me to use, it is absolutely fantastic easy to use and it cuts the grass so well it has made our lawn look so lush my husband is so fussy about his lawn but he was super impressed with this mower.
Cheap Plastic Crap, Not Fit For Purpose, Unhelpful Customer Service
I bought the Webb WEER40RR 40cm mower. I was surprised how much of it was made of what appeared to be flimsy plastic considering the price. Little over a year later a plastic fixing has sheered off resulting in the mower being useless. This section that is broken sticks out and catches in the grass/ground when pushed forward, see pics attached. I attempted to fix it myself as I'm not someone who likes to complain. The fix did not hold so I contacted Webb customer service since the product is covered by a 3 year warranty, another reason I made the purchase in the first place. I was told "After looking at the images and video provided, unfortunately, this is not something that would be covered under warranty. It looks as if it has been hit with a foreign object and would not be classed as a manufacturing defect."
It is a manufacturing default if the product cannot withstand very simple use. This fixing in particular does not look strong enough.
Needless to say I won't ever be purchasing a Webb mower again due to the shocking quality of the product along with the very unhelpful customer service.
Stay clear and avoid Webb mowers, spend your money elsewhere.
Poor service
Purchased a WEH30 cylinder manual mower from their Amazon shop with delivery to my home. I took a day out to be there for delivery. However, delivery was inexplicably redirected to the local post office. I cannot physically collect it, as I don't drive and my hand is in a splint - and it was a very heavy item. I couldn't contact them via Amazon, but eventually found them online and obtained a phone number. Webbs suggested I got the gardener who was to cut my lawn this week to collect (?) or get a friend to do it, and said after 7 days if I didn't collect it, it would be returned to them, and they refused to help further. Given they arranged delivery, it was out of my hands. The computer said no, or, better still, no customer care from either Webbs or Amazon. Webbs refused either a re-delivery or a refund. At least though Webbs located it, which Amazon was unable to do today. Thank you to all.
Not worth the money, pay more and get a better one
I bought the 50cm Webb cordless lawnmower. The price is good and it has a large cutting range. However, I have three major gripes. Firstly the batteries take over 4 hours to fully charge (and to buy a spare set is another £100 plus). Secondly, the life of the battery is not particularly long. I can not do my entire lawn in a single charge. Finally, the batteries are really stiff to get into an out of the mower and the charger. Now I do have carpel tunnel, but I really struggle to pull them out and had no such problem with my previous mower.
Bought a mower from Amazon
Bought a mower from Amazon - £250.
was reasonably ahppy as it mowed well and started ok each time, unfortunately they product quality is not good, after 12 months 3 or the 4 wheels were cracked and had to be replaced.
then got it out this year took it for a service as it had a fuel leak - turns out the carb is cracked and therefor it needs a new engine.
I bought this as i thought it was a British Brand, NO the Mower shop i took it to confirmed a Chinese co bought the rights to the name WEBB and as they no longer supply any parts, its scrap.
He said he has seen a lot of issues with Webb mowers breaking and he wont touch them as they are in his words Cheaply made, Chinese rubbish, carrying the name Webb
Bought Webb WEER40 June 2024
Bought Webb WEER40 June 2024. Still under warranty , wheel has fallen off. Emailed them , they said that bolt had come undone. No bolt, cur clip has come off and is inside wheel. Emailed again only to be told to dismantle wheel ourselves and retrieve clip. Emailed again to ask if by us repairing it ourselves would warranty still stand. Their reply was that wheels are only guaranteed for 90 days. What a con, surely if machine’s warranty is 1 year all of it should be covered for 1 year, also to expect us to do our own repair whilst under warranty is not right. Won’t buy from them again.
Further to this. Webb told me 2 weeks ago that they had sent replacement cur clip. When it didn’t arrive 10;days later I emailed again . Part out of stock awaiting new stock didn’t know how long. What a load of rubbish, as is the mower. This company is not to be trusted, they lie ( obviously ) they don’t honour guarantees, and the product doesn’t last. It has cost us £50 per month to mow our lawn, it would have been cheaper to pay a gardener. Now we look as if we have to buy another mower as grass is growing rapidly and we are unable to cut it.
Thought I’d bought British
Thought I’d bought British. Turns out is cheap Chinese rubbish.
Can’t get spares for it. Only need a blade! Been waiting since October.
I wouldn’t buy Webb again. Flimsy , hard to start, doesn’t pick up grass well.
Don’t buy Webb! Wish I’d seen the reviews before I bought one!
Useless for ladies
Handle probs, it cant be lowered so it's left in the garage till 6'1" son can use it when he has time.
Sub standard machinery and customer service
I purchased a WER21HW4 self propelled mower in August last year from a local dealer, but after a few months the engine developed problems and the drive belt continually fell off. The local dealer has since stopped trading, so I contacted Webb customer service who sent me to an authorised repair centre to assess the issue. The centre couldn’t find the fault and despite the mower being less than a year old, Webb wouldn’t cover the issue under warranty. I had hoped for better from a company claiming British design credentials, but ultimately it’s Chinese made and feels cheap. All hugely disappointing, I had hoped for a better experience and I’m now left with a mower that isn’t even a year old and barely works. I’m also now going to have to buy another machine and it definitely won’t be from Webb, I only wish I’d gone for a reputable brand in the first place. Utter rubbish.
