After reviewing your claim, we confirmed that your vehicle is covered under an A+ Enhanced contract, which is not a bumper-to-bumper plan. The coverage is limited to specific listed components, and unfortunately, the ABS system is not included under the “What Is Covered” section of your contract.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate the opportunity to respond with the full context of your claim.

Your claim (CL10566290) was initiated on April 11, and while we understand the frustration of being without a vehicle for an extended period, the delays were primarily due to issues outside of Alpha Warranty’s control—namely, the repair facility’s repeated failure to provide required documentation and images, and later, their improper installation of the replacement part.

Here’s a summary of what occurred:

The claim required multiple requests for the same information, and we had to close and reopen the claim a few times while waiting on the repair facility to submit proper documentation.

At the shop’s request, we arranged for an inspector. Once the inspection was reviewed, we authorized a replacement transmission.

We sourced a part from a vendor, but the order wasn’t received properly, so we re-ordered and confirmed delivery. That part arrived on May 23.

To assist you, we waived your $100 deductible and maxed out your rental benefit ($490). We're still waiting on your rental invoice to reimburse you for that.

After the first replacement part was rejected by the shop, we immediately sourced a second one, which was delivered on June 11.

When that second part began having issues, the vendor investigated and found that the repair facility had failed to fill the transmission with the correct amount of fluid, which led to damage. Because of this, both the vendor and Alpha Warranty had to deny further coverage due to improper installation, which is excluded under the terms of your contract.

We recognize this situation has been difficult. We do our best to support our customers throughout the claims process, but in this case, the delays and ultimate denial were due to the shop’s poor communication and improper workmanship.

If you’re still experiencing issues, we recommend continuing to work directly with the repair facility. If you haven’t already submitted your rental invoice, please do so—we’re still happy to process that reimbursement.

We genuinely regret the inconvenience you’ve experienced and hope the situation with your vehicle is now resolved.

We’re genuinely sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating claim issues can be—especially when you’ve invested significantly in a protection plan and are counting on that support during a breakdown.

We’ve reviewed your claim in detail to better understand what occurred. The denial was based on findings reported by the repair facility, which indicated rust intrusion on the vehicle’s side steps as the cause of the failure. Unfortunately, corrosion is not a covered cause of failure under your contract.

You currently have our ABC Extended coverage, which is a stated component contract—meaning it covers only the parts specifically listed in your coverage section. According to our records, only one claim was submitted, on May 7, 2025. That repair facility diagnosed issues with the front crankshaft seal, valve cover gaskets, and vacuum pump, all of which fall outside the list of covered components in your contract.

We understand this can be disappointing, especially when you've invested in a top-tier plan. Unfortunately, items like the front crankshaft seal and valve cover gaskets are not covered unless directly tied to a covered repair. While there is an option to enhance seals and gaskets coverage, your vehicle exceeded the mileage limit at the time of sale, making it ineligible for that add-on.

Since the start of your coverage, your P1 service contract has supported three claims—two of which have already been fully paid, and a third that was authorized—with Alpha Warranty covering a total of $3,347.93 in approved repairs to your vehicle. We are proud of how your contract has performed, and we believe it has delivered significant value and protection when you’ve needed it.

Regarding your most recent claim: the vast majority of the repair costs were covered. However, certain minor items—such as screws and part cleaners—were not eligible for reimbursement. This is not unique to your contract. As clearly stated in Section #13 of the “What Is Not Covered” portion of your agreement, fasteners, shop supplies, and similar incidental items are standard exclusions across nearly all vehicle service contracts in the industry.

We understand that on your previous claim you may not have had any out-of-pocket costs, which might have led to the impression that your contract would cover absolutely everything. However, as with all legal agreements, it’s essential to review the terms, conditions, and exclusions outlined in the contract itself.

Regarding your claim, the labor was adjusted to reflect the published time in ALLDATA for the front timing cover repair, which was verified as the failed component by the repair facility. It appears that the repair facility may have included charges for the rear timing cover repair, which has a higher published labor time than the front cover repair.

Additionally, we covered a new timing cover at a cost of $599.20, even though the contract specifies coverage for the gaskets required for the repair—not the entire cover itself.

While your contract does cover internally lubricated parts of the turbocharger, the root cause of the failure — the nuts coming off the impeller wheels — falls outside the scope of your contract’s coverage.

Here’s why:

The failure was traced to the nuts coming off the impeller wheels, which caused the shaft to shift and ultimately damaged the turbocharger.
Since the nuts and bolts are not listed as covered components under your contract, the damage resulting from their failure is not eligible for coverage.
Section 5 of the contract specifically excludes coverage for damage to covered parts when caused by non-covered parts — which applies in this case since the nuts are not considered covered parts.
We understand the complexity of this situation, especially when dealing with an integrated system like a turbocharger. While the impeller itself is an internally lubricated part and would typically be covered, the fact that the failure was initiated by a non-covered part (the nuts) means that the resulting damage is excluded from coverage.
