Have been a customer for over 15 years this company is exceptional, their staff in Carrick on suir are courteous, helpful and always patient and polite, could give lessons to other larger corporations, well done . Patience on both sides in the Time of Covid goes a long way
Misleading "Amount Due" on their online banking
Got transferred from Tesco Banking to these. Never had any issues with Tesco banking. Initially Avantcard were ok to deal with but their website is very misleading. I tried to set up a Revolut direct debit by sending in the letter - the staff member said this would work! However nobody from Avantcard got back to me to say they do not accept Revolut as direct debit. So my bill didnt get paid. When I went in online and check, It has "Amount Due" on the account which is only recent transactions and does not include a total amount due on the card. This is very misleading and it is setting people up to have bad credit. In all the years with Tesco Banking they never mislead their customers. Even when you ring up Avantcard they quote the recent charges too and dont tell you about outstanding charges. This means they then give you finance charges. When i tell them i want to pay "everything" off they seem surprised!! Its all set up to purposely put their customers into the red and not user friendly at all.

This company is not going to help you in any way % is way too high, they doesn’t want to help with COVID19, called yesterday and explained in regards a family member impacted with and ask to please waive late fee and then next day send an email stating after “carefully review it” it is denied<< closing this account no help no money!! You don’t need this card at all!! Save your money. BC I will, thank you Avant Card.
Advantages loyalty scheme is awful
Their advantage rewards scheme is the worst I have experienced. I tried to apply several of the discount codes on the likes of FitBit and Sketchers through their email advantages groupscheme links and nothing was accepted. Complete farce in my opinion.

If I could give zero stars i would....i recently received an email inviting me to apply for a low interest rate loan,applied got refused as my credit history was not great or so they led me to believe so I in turn applied to the icb and central credit register for my credit report and low and behold i have an almost perfect credit score no late payments and any previous loans paid in full....I would steer clear of these banksters and go with a reputable bank or credit union!

Worst at customer retention and good on customer intake
When I started with AvantCard, they were pretty quick and fast. I didnt ask for a Credit card but sent out to me the credit card. Never used the card.
After an year, they charged me 81 Euro whereas the government fees only 30 Euro.
Finally had to delete my profile from them. Worst experience ever.
Advise: If you would like to think about what will happen with AvantCard after an year, try to avoid those folks. But if we are looking for immediate service, they are very proactive to onboard you.
Avoid at all costs
Stay away from this crowd. Had no problems with Tesco credit card. A whole different story with this “outfit”.

I would not give them even one star. I been dealing with tesco credit card, but this - avancard company took over tesco. From that moment my life is miserable, there is a no way l would be able to pay them off. Please stay away from them.
Very lax with Customer data
I have a credit card with this company. I called them to pay my bill and went through the call as normal to its conclusion. In the next 15 minutes I received 2 calls from avantcard customers who claimed that they had been put through to me after calling the company. I called the company to alert them to this and they seemed quite lax in their reply and action about it. I asked for assurances that my personal data was secure and what followed in seeking these assurances was farcical including one call where for 10 minutes my account was discussed at length without any security questions being asked. AVOID!

Via AnPost money. Got turned down for a car loan by them - thought it was due to too much allowed credit through their credit card despite a zero balance. Phoned to reduce limit and associate offered to put me through to loans debt to verify why I was turned down. Rather than going through my application and verifying my info the guy just said I didn't meet criteria and apply again in a month. He was very smug and condescending. Funny thing was KBC approved loan next day for 3k more. Id never been turned down for credit before. Id got a copy of my credit score only 2 months ago and it was excellent 👌
Turning Away Good Customers
Treated badly as a potential customer.
I applied for a personal loan, I own my apartment, I have no loans or credit cards, no dependants either. I work full time. After 4 working days (Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday) of bank statements, payslips and constant we could not reach you emails (I never missed a call and had to call back each time) did they send an email 20:55pm with a template "no".
This crowd of clowns are not worth your time taken to apply.
Low interest rates, nice customer service people
I have a credit card and loan with Avant for a number of years now. I’ve never had any hassle with customer service. Loan was in my bank in under 48 hours.
I’ve balance transfered credit cards too with no issues.
The only downsides are: no online facility to check the progress of my loan.
The portal for paying the credit card is awful.

Although with Avantcard for years I am so annoyed regarding a recent refund issue. Due to a holiday being cancelled I received a part payment to my Avantcard a/c. I intended transferring to my bank a/c. I had just paid my visa bill in full (as always) 8 days in advance for June. I received my July statement on the Monday and on Friday (4 days later) the holiday refund arrived in my a/c but when I looked online Avantcard had deducted my July payment nearly a month in advance!! Furious, I rang. Advised once you have funds payment is taken. They did not seem to grasp that they took the € way in advance and as I maintained, did not adhere to our credit card agreement, taking away my choice to pay the minimum of €25 or whatever sum I wished to pay for July. I told them I needed that € (all of it) for another purpose. I went to an ATM and withdrew the balance and was charged €9.30 withdrawal fee. Again I rang. I was advised it was a Credit Card and not a Debit Card but the fee was refunded.
At my request a Manager called me but the same story and apologised. I pursued to have investigated and received a letter stating I would have a response no later than 16 July.
On 17 July I received a letter apologising for delay as “taking longer than anticipated” and will issue a response by 14 August!!

I'm 31, earn 60k+ a year, have no rent, have a perfect credit rating and they refused their basic rewards card with no explanation.
I qualify for a Black card at Ulster Bank for crying out loud.
How they're running a successful business is beyond me!

On March 1, 2020 I made my monthly payment of $40, when I checked my bank account to see what payments had been deducted, I saw that Avant had taken two $40 payments instead of one. Thinking I may have made the mistake, I just left it. April 1, 2020 I made my usual monthly payment again, and remembering last month, I made sure I made a note of my payment. When I checked my bank account today April 2, 2020, yet another double payment had been deducted from my bank account. I called the company right away, and they told me they are only seeing one payment of $40 on their end. The customer service rep then proceeded to tell me that the mistake must be with my bank, and I needed to call them. I knew different, because I was looking at my bank statement!!! I called my bank anyway, and I was told that it does show two payments and the times are different. So I went through the process with my bank of stopping one of the payments. Today in my email, I received a statement ready notice from Avant which I do monthly. It says I am over limit, my payment is past due, and I was charged $25 late fee. That I needed to pay over $87 to bring my account current and under limit. I also noticed that it says I made a $40 payment which was then returned. I called once again, and was told there is no explanations for any of this, and nothing noted on my account as to why any of this has happened! They are the reason my account was over, and my payment returned making me have a late fee. There was no reason to return my payment!, the money was in my bank! To me, after the past two months with what I have been through with this company, it seems to me like it's nothing but a scam!!! I reported it to the BBB, but of course I am just a little person, and they talked there way out of it! I am 72 and live on a fixed income. When I pay my bills I have a budget, and that extra $40 per month they took for two months is taking away from my food budget. Now they have charged me even more for no reason! I think they got mad because I reported them and they found a way to get back at me! Nothing was resolved, and now I am afraid this is going to happen every month when I make a payment. Be careful, do your research before choosing credit, I didn't!

In this day and age what company asks you to write letters to contact them!!! What kind of company is this, terrible customer service, inefficient and ineffective. The last guy I spoke to Rob from Customer Loyalty tried to convince of the benefits of an Avantcard even though I was cancelling purely because of their terrible service, hangs up on me never bothers to call back, call again they can't find me on the system promise to call back never hear from them, bear in mind I'm calling from abroad and its costing me a fortune! Can't email, can't make a pmt online can't cancel my account! REALLY

I should of read the reviews before I uploaded my info. The Customer service was terrible, he kept asking why I was cancelling my application, I told him it was due to the reviews and then he asked 'is it because of the rates?'
It seems I have a job just to get my personal data deleted from them also,which he was also unclear on.
