Letter to AvantCard
Wow. The second, duplicate 'denied' email finally inspired me to respond.
I’m not ‘Trisha’, I’m Patricia. No idea where ‘Trisha’ came from.
I called asking for information about a home improvement loan, I wasn’t necessarily wanting to apply.
I know I’m an odd candidate, but have learned that different lenders have different criteria, so I wanted to investigate.
The gentleman on the phone seemed uniquely interested in just getting an application submitted, not in exploring possibilities or alternatives with me.
I repeatedly identified things about me that I knew could be stumbling blocks and he rarely could give me any answers, he would just say the credit team would evaluate it. I stressed that what I wanted was to understand what was possible, not that I be approved for some specific product. The gentleman assured me that no rejection would ever be just a ‘no’, but that it would be accompanied with both reasons and alternative options. The two, duplicate responses I received had neither.
Not quibbling with the answer at all. Just frustrated that I spent as much time as I did to learn absolutely nothing.
I understand that the online, retail, cookie cutter lending approach probably is not a good fit for a unique person like me, but the kind woman at a credit union in Swords who simply said, “I’m sorry, but we can’t lend past the end of your current Stamp 1 visa” provided miles better customer service in 1 minute than the half-hour I spent on the phone with Avantcard.
Received an application in the mail…
Received an application in the mail saying I was pre approved for a card. I applied online and they said I was denied and that I'll receive an email stating why in 24hrs. Well it's been over 5 days and I have yet to receive an email about their decision! All I can say is don't waste your time people!!!!

I applied last Friday to get a loan with Avantcard , got a call then on Wednesday that they looked over it. (They advertise 1 business day and it could be in your account)
When I received the call, I was told congratulations, you have been approved, and that you WILL receive an email tomorrow requesting IBAN to transfer funds into .
Naturally enough, I was happy, waiting and expecting my email.
Well, the email came , Thursday (nearly a week after the initial application) "Unfortunately we are not in a position to give you a loan at this time" . So I rang up and they could not give me a straight answer as to why , after being lied to and given false promises being told I was approved and WILL receive funds , and this was all done on a recorded phonecall.
Its an absolute disgrace.
Don’t waste your time
I applied online and was told it was approved I just needed to send in some documents which was fine but it took 3 attempts for them to accept my bank statements. They then emailed me telling me they tried to contact me (they didn’t) and they needed to check some things from me. So I called them and they then decided they wanted even more documents from me and it alarms me how much detail they want from you. I’ve had loans before from other lenders and I’ve never been asked some of the ridiculous things they’ve asked. The person I spoke to on the phone was asking me about transactions in my bank account which you can clearly see is loan repayments which I’ve already told them about. Frustrating experience to the point I’m not even going to bother anymore.
Horrible service
Horrible service! My application was approved at first. Had to apply lots of documents online. Took lots off hassle and after one week they emailed saying that my application wasn’t approved. Waste of time. Won’t recommend to anyone!

Dreadful practices and customer service. Never even realised I had an account with them until they sent me a letter asking for money. Turns out they'd taken over from Tesco... I never received a card from them, it was never activated and I never signed any agreements with them. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs.

I just cancelled a loan application I had in with this shower. Twice they have come back and said they need 3 months bank statements. I have already sent them a statement from 02/01/2019 to 26/03/2019 but it seems that is not 3 months in their book. The amount of time I have wasted uploading documents and they have difficulty with everything. If I had read the comments on here first I would not have gone near them, anyway lesson learned. Nothing but time wasters.
Absolute cowboys
Absolute cowboys. Accepted for a loan from the underwriter dealing with the application in mid December 2018. Throughout January 2019 I received Continuous emails looking for the same information submitted. January 25th 2019 All information submitted but was told on the phone that there was no one to talk to at that time as gone home but everything is in order. 10 minutes later email received stating the application was unsuccessful. I rang back the next day speaking to a credit team member who advised a underwriter needs to look at it again as she saw no reason for the application to be declined. Promised a phone call back the next day. Now 2 weeks later no phone call. Shameful waste of time.
