Cracked Dekton Worktop – Cosentino Denied Responsibility Despite Ignoring Their Own Guidelines

Edit** Warranty ID: GR00841714 / Claim Ref: C-00266718: I am extremely disappointed by how Cosentino handled my warranty claim. Your inspector concluded that the crack in my Dekton worktop was caused by someone leaning or kneeling on it — yet your own data sheet states the material has a 100kg static load capacity and high impact resistance (COR 0.85). These claims completely contradict your report, which blamed minor force for a full-thickness crack.Worse, the fabrication clearly breached your mandatory installation guidelines (40mm cut-out distance instead of 50mm, and an incorrect corner radius), which was not acknowledged or addressed in the report.

I submitted clear photos and technical documentation. Still, your inspector offered only a visual opinion, with no measurements or testing — and Cosentino dismissed my concerns entirely. This shows poor technical accountability and customer support, especially for a product marketed as “ultra-durable.”

Previous Review: I purchased a high-end Dekton Kovik worktop as part of my kitchen order from Magnet. The worktop cracked through the full thickness after less than a year of normal use. Despite advertising it as ultra-durable and impact-resistant, the manufacturer Cosentino and Magnet refused responsibility. Magnet had arranged the installation via their subcontractor, but later claimed they had no liability — a deeply misleading stance.

I went through the FHIO complaints process, only to find it even more frustrating. They ignored critical evidence — including proof that the worktop was fabricated and installed in violation of Cosentino’s own mandatory technical guidelines (such as incorrect cut-out distances and poor corner radii). Instead, they relied on vague, speculative opinions from an inspector who didn’t even reference the product's specifications.

Worse, the same ombudsman I raised a bias complaint against was allowed to handle the final adjudication. Despite being told I could comment on evidence, none of my technical rebuttals were seriously addressed. FHIO even misapplied basic consumer law, wrongly stating that a "supply-only" label voided Magnet's responsibility — despite them arranging the full installation.

If you’re considering Magnet Kitchens, or trusting Cosentino’s Dekton products, be warned. Not only did the product fail, but every support system in place — from Magnet to FHIO — failed to protect the customer. I’ve now had to file a small claims court case to seek redress.

This has been one of the most stressful consumer experiences I’ve ever faced. I hope this helps others avoid making the same mistake.

Cracked, dreadful customer service

Had my Dekton installed about 7 years ago, a crack appeared within a fairly short space of time (I actually now think there was a small unoticeable crack from the outset). Dekton came out to assess but came to the conclusion that I had been standing on my worktop (I never had) and that because I hadn't completed their warranty form (was never offered a form or knew I had to complete one) they would do nothing to help. A few years on and the crack is just a few inches from the edge, what we'll do when it reaches it I do not know.
So, in summary, I would highly recommend avoiding Dekton both for the quality of their product, the high cost and abismal customer service.
Oh...and by the way Dekton, I have still never stood on the worktop.

Sinvergüenzas de guante blanco

Mi experiencia con CONSENTINO se resume en lo siguiente: son unos sinvergüenzas de guante blanco.
Se anuncian con muchas garantías de sostenibilidad, de buen material, de seriedad, etc. pero a la hora de la verdad, actúan como los trileros de toda la vida.
Llevo 7 años peleándome para que me cambien una encimera de silestone con manchas que van a más y que están erosionando una zona cada vez mayor.
Empecé con reclamaciones ya desde el primer día: o no respondían o daban largas. Pasaron meses, vino un técnico. Hizo fotos. Sacó de su mochila todos los productos de limpieza que deben de existir en el mercado y tras frotar y frotar sin éxito, se fue prometiendo informar a su jefe. Pasaron meses. y correos sin respuesta. Me agoté (es su táctica: que te canses y dejes de molestarlos). Pero el año pasado retomé las reclamaciones (Tengo garantía por 25 años!!!) La encimera se está estropeando por esa zona. Vino otro técnico. Hizo fotos, Calculó cuánto costaría cambiar la encimera y se fue asegurando que recibiría noticias de su jefe. Pasaron meses y multitud de correos de mi parte. Por fin concluyen
que la garantía no cubre ese desperfecto. Así, con dos bemoles!! Pero esta vez se equivocan porque voy a seguir denunciando hasta el final. Todos los consumidores que han tenido y tienen problemas con esta empresa deberían denunciar y reclamar. Todos podemos ayudar a que otras personas sepan a lo que se enfrentan si contratan servicios con compañías tan poco profesionales como es el caso de CONSENTINO.

El pasado lunes escribí una nota sobre mi experiencia con Cosentino referida a una caída de un fregadero de cocina y a su sistema de sujeción que no era nada positiva .
Después de eso debo de reconocer y agradecer al Equipo de Cosentino ( en especial a Antonio Guitierrez) todas las molestias que se han tomado para explicarme la situación donde queda claro que en caso alguno es responsabilidad de ellos. También añadir que sin tener obligación alguna por parte de ellos me han indicado diferentes maneras de solucionar esa instalación.
Creo que es bueno rectificar.

Spezzato

Top che dopo un paio di anni presenta due crepe negli angoli e mentre cucinavo si è spezzato completamente in due nel punto più stretto. premesso che stavo cucinando normalmente sul fornello e quindi non ho mai appoggiato nessuna pentola rovente direttamente sul piano cucina.

Secondo la sua descrizione, il piano cucina ha sviluppato crepe negli angoli e si è rotto completamente nel punto più stretto mentre cucinava, nonostante non abbia mai appoggiato nessuna pentola rovente direttamente su di esso. DO NOT GO NEAR DEKTON AS A BENCH TOP40 years experienced in restaurant…

I’m 40 years experienced in restaurant and function Centres. We chose Dekton bench tops for our retirement home on a recommendation. The product is good to look at but It chips easily and it has now cracked, it does not live up to its “ virtually indestructible” claims but the worst part is Customer Service DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PRODUCT OR THIS COMPANY. They will string you along and do nothing. Oh and whatever you do do not stand on your bench top!

My quartz fitted from cosentino developed a crack came to check .said I put a hot saucepan on the other side of the kitchen apparently the heat can travel meters causing a crack meters away what a load of bull using poor product when it goes faulty try to blame you don’t touch them with a barge pole terrible company

We are sorry that your countertop has a crack. Silestone is heat-resistant.

However, bear in mind that sudden changes in temperature can affect it, in the same way it would affect other stone materials.

Therefore, in order to avoid damage when placing hot objects on the surface, it is highly recommended to use trivets.

I had Dekton Lucid installed in my…

I had Dekton Lucid installed in my kitchen. Within 2 weeks I noticed a large scratch in the middle of my island. They told me it is not covered under the warranty. I have also complained to Home Depot and Block Tops (bought throufh HD and BT installed). It has now been a few months and I have noticed many more scratches from every day use. NEVER had this problem with granite or Quartz. DO NOT BUY DEKTON.

A Quality Claim was submitted on your behalf and reviewed by Cosentino’s Quality Department.

After a thorough review, Cosentino’s Quality Team determined that the scratches are not a manufacture defect and as such your Quality Claim was denied.

Dekton surfaces are stone products which are extremely durable and under normal use are very stain and scratch resistant.

Scratches occurring in installed Dekton surfaces are considered accidental damage as they will not occur unless an external force or interaction causing the scratch occurs.

The Dekton Warranty does not cover accidental damage, and as such, scratches are not covered under the Dekton Warranty.

cosentino une compagnie á problèmes et qui n'appliquent pas sa garantie de 25 ans en trouvant toutes sortes d'excuses

En 2012 j'ai contacté la Cie Corwn Granite pour un achat de plateau d'un ilôt. Cette compagnie a choisi, avec mon accord suite á la vue d'un échantillon, la marque Sileston de la Cie Cosentino. Après quelques années une fissure est apparue partant du coin de l'évier. J"ai contacté Crown Granit qui a fait le nécessaire auprès de Cosentino en posant une plainte. Plainte reçue positive et l'îlot a été changé par Cosentino.
Des années plus tard en 2024 une fissure est réapparue au même endroit. J"ai donc appelé le fournisseur qui a contacté Cosentino qui a envoyé un technicien pour faire des tests. Apres les avoir fournis á la maison mère, j'ai reçu un courriel me disant que la demande de remplacement a été refusée (numéro de la réclamation:C-00289263) en s'appuyant sur les motifs de ce qui n'est pas couvert par la garantie, dont voici le contenu:
"• L’exposition du produit à l’extérieur des bâtiments. • Les fissures sur la surface après son installation. Les fissures sur le produit fini ne peuvent pas être considérées comme une indication de matériau défectueux. Les causes principales de fissuration sont le mouvement indu du matériau, l’application directe de chaleur sur la surface, le placement d’un poids excessif sur la surface ou le résultat de chocs sur le matériau après son installation. • L’application directe de chaleur sur la surface. • Le placement d’un poids excessif sur la surface. • Les éraflures qui ne sont pas dues à un défaut du matériau, mais qui sont le résultat du grattage et du choc d’objets contre les bords de la surface. • Les variations de couleur, de nuance, de structure des particules ou les variances de niveau de brillance dans le matériau dues aux changements naturels au fil du temps se produisant dans les différents composants du produit. • La définition des défauts de fabrication couverts par la présente Garantie n’inclut pas la durabilité des caractéristiques accessoires à la fonctionnalité réelle du produit pendant sa période de validité. • Tout problème ou dommage causé par l’exposition du produit à une utilisation intensive et continue pendant de longues périodes, notamment la décoloration, la perte et le déclin des performances et des caractéristiques esthétiques, et la déformation des sols. Les problèmes, dommages ou inconvénients résultant de la production d’électricité statique ou de l’utilisation de produits conçus pour éliminer ou réduire ses effets."

Or cet ilot est considéré comme un plan de travail.
Il n'y a RIEN de ce que vous citez dans cette page 6 qui n'ait affecte et qui a fait en sorte que cette fissure est apparue. Je dirais "réapparue".
Vous parlez de de chaleur ??? Jusqu'á quel degré est elle autorisée?
Vous parlez de poids ??? Jusqu'á quel poids est il autorisé ?
Mon épouse fait extrêmement attention á tout ce qui attrait á la cuisine en particulier
Je ne comprends pas du tout votre refus de faire face á votre garantie ... D'AUTANT PLUS QUE C'EST LA DEUXIÈME FOIS QUE CE PROBLÈME APPARAIT POUR LA MÊME RAISON ET AU MÊME ENDROIT, ET QUE VOUS AVIEZ AUTORISÉ DE LE REMPLACER LORS DE LA PREMIÈRE FOIS.
J"attends la réponse de la compagnie ... avant de déposer une plainte au service de La Protection du Consommateur.
Voici entre autre ce qui est couvert par pa la garantie qui est assez attrayante au vue des autre commentaires que j'ai lu sur ce site. Voici ce que la garantie de 25 ans couvre:

Therefore, cracks are not covered by the warranty. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Cosentino used to be a reputable…

Cosentino used to be a reputable company with great products and service, but not any more! 20 yrs. ago I bought a large countertop slab from them and it's been wonderful. Fast forward, I ordered and paid for a sample but they sent the wrong one. I thought they'd admit the error and remedy it by sending the right sample, but nope. It's sad when good companies fall apart. They used to be unique in the field but their competitors outstrip them in any ways now. I will be buying a new countertop from another vendor.

Death by a thousand scratches …

Just look at these complaints and note Cosentino gives the same canned response to all of them. Their warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. There is a sub-reddit group for a Dekton and Silestone class action lawsuit, and I am on board.

I had my kitchen counter installed in December 2022, and in less than 2 years, the work area looks scuffed from using a plastic cutting board, which has left thousands of tiny scratches. This material is supposed to be hard as nails and scratch resistant. It has had very minimal use and this is so disappointing.

I purchased this based on Costco's recommendation of their products. I'm going to complain to Costco also, as they need to reevaluate their relationship with this company. If you somehow manage to get a rep from Cosentino to evaluate your counter (you have to jump through a lot of hoops and be persistent), I guarantee you will be gaslighted. They actually claimed they could not see one scratch on this counter. If I had to do it over again, I would have my friends and neighbors here at the time of the evaluation. It's funny how everybody else can see all these scratches but they cannot. Then the rep took a video using her phone with the flashlight on. This is absolutely hilarious because it will show nothing but a field of white. There is a fault in the material, which the installer tried to buff out with denatured alcohol. It didn't work because it's IN the material not on it.

Avoid this company at all costs. I wish I hadn't been so trusting with Costco's recommendations and had researched it. I waited 23 years for this, spent a lot of money, and now have to worry every time I place a glass on the counter. I actually bought a wood cover for my stovetop, so I can work off the counter and avoid anymore damage. Awful company with an awful product.

Have paid £4.5k deposit for a worktop

Have paid £4.5k deposit for a worktop. Been waiting 6 weeks and still no sign of the slabs arriving from Spain. Impossible to get any information from them. Estimated delivery dates seemed to be made up and then no one replies to emails. Glitzy website but it all seems to be a front for a completely disorganised business. Really sad experience

Muchos años de garantía de boca,a la hora de la verdad 0

Muy buenas,mucha MARCA y mucha GARANTÍA,pero como tengas un problema la solución es nula,pues se rigen por unos baremos que solo ellos conocen y deciden. Mi caso es que puse en mi cocina una piedra que era lo mejor de lo mejor, MENTIRA,le ha salido una grieta que pasas la mano y te cortas, y la super MARCA dice que se ha ejercido una presión encima, " si poner una cazuela de garbanzos es ejercer una presión" que vengan y me lo expliquen. Creo que por el precio que tiene , podrían tener un servicio post venta más acorde con la MARCA que dicen ser.La piedra es dekton.

Gracias por el comentario. Desde Cosentino sentimos que la experiencia con el material no haya sido la esperada. Un material como Dekton, de composición inerte y sin fisuras interiores como las que se pueden encontrar en la piedra natural, no se rompe de manera fortuita, suele ocurrir por motivos como una mala instalación o por un uso indebido, como un golpe fuerte. Al estudiar su caso, cada incidencia se estudia por un técnico, se habrá detectado alguna de estas opciones. Lamentablemente esto no está cubierto por la garantía, ya que no depende de la calidad del producto, sino de su uso o instalación por un tercero.

Pésimo o nulo servicio postventa

La atención al cliente directamente no existe. Me he intentado poner en contacto con la empresa a través de teléfono y redes sociales y desde julio que me instalaron la cocina no he obtenido respuesta. El valor de una empresa se refleja en su servicio postventa. No me hubiese arriesgado a comprar un producto tan caro si hubiese sabido que ante algún problema no iban a responder.

Que decepción

Cuando uno se acerca a comprar una calidad como la de Cosentino lo que menos se espera es que se vaya a convertir en una pesadilla… No solo no salió bien a la primera, tampoco a la segunda… El material ha llegado dos veces rayado, cruza de una lado a otro toda la piedra. La primera vez vi que poco se me ayudaba y que todos, comerciante, reformista y Cosentino no terminaban de asumir ninguna responsabilidad. No sé a quién de los tres se le ocurrió que era buena idea limar aquello, solo por la parte rayada y algo más que había cerca del grifo… El resultado?? Algo brillante encima de mi encimera con una forma alargada y por abajo redondeada, y con el rallado que todavía estaba… Alguien decide que se cambia que ya no hay arreglo… Feliz que estaba! Para mí 4000 euros de encimera son muchos euros, pero también era un sueño que terminaba por dejar mi cocina perfecta… Pero no, el mismo rayado, muy similar, estaba otra vez en la pieza… No me lo podía creer… Y otra vez la misma pesadilla, nadie se responsabiliza de nada, y ahí tengo una encimera rayada, con menos euros en la cuenta y sin ninguna ilusión porque esto vaya a quedar bien, porque nadie, nadie, asume esta responsabilidad, bueno alguien me da un descuento de 200 euros… Increíble…

Excessive Wait Period for Warranty Claim

Good luck waiting for them to approve your warranty claim. They installed a scratched countertop. Stone Systems, i.e., Lowes, sent someone to try to remove the scratches which were apparently embedded. The technician was not successful and recommended replacement. Why am I told it takes 8-10 weeks for an answer? I expect a solution once the excessive "wait" period is up, Cosentino. Do you read these reviews?
Based on repeated complaints about the company, Lowes needs to reconsider using this vendor or Cosentino needs to change its attitude. Additionally, trying to get a sample at the onset was next to impossible. This business is failing on many fronts.

Terrible

Terrible, we have chips caused by small plates going to the dishwasher.... Isnt's this supposed to be strong material???? This is a very expensive material!

Cosentino makes not responsible of those issues.... terrible!!!!

Don’t even consider!

I have listened to my architect and chose Cosentino Silestone (Calcutta Gold) for kitchen, yard and bathroom surfaces. I believe that I was choosing a superior product that is “stain, scratch and heat resistant” and with a 25 years warranty, which I wrongly assumed that would cover stains and scratches.
I am in my apartment now, but my kitchen is incomplete because I am still waiting for the hob and the hood to be installed. So, I am preparing light snacks etc. nothing like heavy cooking. Despite this fact, I can’t believe that I have been in my kitchen for only TWO WEEKS and there is already a scratch nobody can say how it happened and a stain which seems to be caused by a coffee cup. But worst is what happened today. I was putting away a glass cup to a drawer and bumped at the edge of the countertop. The glass cup has no sign of injury but there is a large chip at the edge of the countertop. I can’t believe that a slight bump that didn’t break the glass would cause a chip on a material that supposedly be extremely durable. I mean this is a kitchen, not a showroom! I will be cooking with cast iron! I don’t trust this countertop which supposed to be the crown jewel of my kitchen. I chose the most expensive line thinking that I will be using it for more than a decade. Now I know that I will be changing it most probably within a year or so! It is worst than Corinth!

The worst product I have bought in my…

The worst product I have bought in my entire life so far. This product;
Chips (really easily)
Fades (very quickly)
Scratches (easily)
Stains (from everything including water)
In other words it fails on everything you would expect of a worktop.
The formica worktops I removed were a far superior product.
Absolute Rip Off
