Texted twice on different days , once at night and once just past midday both times just never got a response from it and if someone is in severe distress this is not helpful at all.

Talking to them felt like I was a box-ticking exercise for someone. Active suicidality was met with breathing exercises and suggestions to maybe talk to my GP, followed by “Looks like our time is coming to an end”

It's so rubbish and when you're balling your eyes out after saying what is wrong they spring " Unfortunately, our time is coming to an end soon. But please reach out again if you're struggling to cope. We're here 24/7" then they say you deserve to feel relaxed....

I couldn't recommend this as a resource to anyone in distress. Explained my feelings, including feeling pretty close to the edge. I was sent a link to The Priory which contained grounding exercises and then told that I should "get back to enjoying your evening" First and last time I bother, and I despair of this approach to those deeper in crisis at the point of contact.

First time - told they couldn’t help me because I was having thoughts of you know what and to call …
Last week, I thought I’d try them again might be a one off. I have having really bad thoughts I contacted them at 10.27pm. Still haven’t heard anything & it’s 2.07pm. I ended the chat.

3 times I have tried reaching out to shout for support. 2 of which was at nignt. I had no réponce at all on any occasion. I just wish there was something out there that would help stop mh k!||ing people and actually care.
I know you’ll busy but really. 3 separate occasions and nothing. I feel like there is no hope for anything to get better as there is no Person on this earth that has a real sense of idea on how to support and help everyone in this world who are suffering.
Just a simple chat can help.
I never get this opportunity. No at home no outside. I feel well and truly isolated on this awful world.

Honestly, probably one of the worst things I could’ve ever done was text this stupid helpline, not only was I made her feel bad about the way that I feel and the person ignored me and didn’t even speak to me i told them i was going to unalive myself and she acted like it was just a normal Tuesday i think these people who work for these “helplines” need to understand that if people text they are in crisis and to not ignore them, and when i said i had enough and i was ending the conversation she ended it immediately and left me alone some GREAT people you have working for your awful service that if anything made me feel worse, the women's name was LUCY and she was horrendous maybe she compete in a competition for least helpful person of the year award

This organisation protects paedophiles and will report you to the police or other governing bodies. I’m sure it says in their T&C’s but when you’re experiencing mental health problems and having a breakdown or angry at what has happened to you, you just want someone to talk too. the T&C’s is the last place you’re going to look before you start talking. After my experience with this organisation as I was angry and really struggling to cope. I was raped and sexually abused in my childhood (6yo) as a cadet in St John ambulance for 6/7 years. I was very angry for letting this paedophile into my life and changing me as a person/child. I made threats on my life and the paedophiles life. This so-called charity contacted the police and I was arrested and kept inpolice cells for 36 hours and was not allowed Any phone calls. So after being taken to a magistrates court I was putting in prison for two weeks. Went to Crown Court and got bail, because I was not allowed a phone call I could not inform my work. I’m now jobless as they had not heard from me in two and a half weeks. Im in a worse mental health place now, thanks to your organisation. I feel even more angry now as I lost my childhood to a paedophile and 40 years later, it’s taking a massive strain on my adult life, being arrested, going to court and sent to Prison (I’ve never experienced any of these before) I don’t have any trust in any mental health charity or the Police now, I’m even worried about going to my local doctor now.

Always get the same for hours..we are experiencing very high demand and it may take longer than usual. What is usual, it seems 5 hours plus at least. No good in a crisis

The wait times can be long but definitely worth it I have used shout multiple times and definitely worth it as a physically disabled person I find it hard to talk to a mental health professional or carer about how I'm feeling and found comfort in messaging shout I find it easier to type how I'm feeling too ❤️

I have messaged SHOUT today for help because I have been struggling today to cope with my daughters angry outbursts and am in a lot of physical pain. I needed someone to listen and offer practical advice. The volunteer was useless and so unhelpful. She told me I was depressed when I didn't use that word! Am feeling low is not necessarily depression!! Very concerning.

The responses you receive feel like a terrible AI bot. After giving many details about my situation, including plans to harm myself, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm, I was then asked "are you having thoughts of hurting yourself." Well, yes! Obviously, I just said that. I then wrote extensively on a particular issue and the response was "You seem to be struggling with depression, would you like to talk about it?." My responses weren't even acknowledged. The resources given are woeful, I'd say it's all useless but that would be giving them more credit than they deserve.
All I can say is avoid at all costs. The experience will leave you feeling a lot worse than when you started talking to them. A shameful company that does not help anyone. If like me you had a bad experience then I would suggest passing it on to the websites that recommend this "service" and recommend they remove their advertisement for them. As you can tell from their copy and paste response to the other reviews they don't actually implement any changes and clearly they have no actual interest in people's welfare. Their service has been running for many, many years. And yet look at their review rate. I've seen rat filled restaurants get better reviews.
This lack of caring can cause harm to people already in severe emotional distress. A dangerous company masquerading as a helpline.

I was feeling really down and gave Shout a try, and I am happy I did. The person I spoke to was really kind and supportive, and more importantly actually listened to me!! It was nice to know there was someone on the other side of the screen who cares.

So I text tem at 2:01 during a down period and wanted a bit of help... They text me back at 4:17 saying sorry it took so long to respond and then say at 4:28 we haven't heard from you so we're closing the chat.... What?! Well good job I fell asleep and didn't do something worse isn't it?! Where is the duty of care or the wellbeing check??
