Their service is absolutely horrible. They deliver items separately. Then cancel the order and initiate a refund after 7 days of no update. Why approve a payment on something you don’t have??

Christmas Ruined by Late Delivery and Poor Service experience

Terrible experience. I ordered a cookware set in mid-December with delivery promised for 20 December. The date came and went with no delivery. Tracking kept showing “out for delivery,” but nothing arrived. This was meant to be a Christmas gift. Customer service offered excuses about couriers and holidays instead of a solution. No accountability, poor communication, and very disappointing service. I would not recommend ordering from this seller.

You do NOT deserve a star at all. I purchased an electric bike from you and promised date of delivery was today. NOTHING, the item has not even left the premises and xmas is the day after tomorrow! Now someone will not receive a xmas gift! How BAD must your service be to go this far? I cannot express how disgusted and disappointed I am. Will NEVER support Makro again, you should be ashamed of yourselves and this is a sign of the times, you will not last very long, especially if I read all the terrible reviews.

What a shity customer services i…

What a shity customer services i received. I went to makro to purchase fridge on weekend and asked for delivery on the 23rd. Indeed they call around 8 to ask if I'm available, I only received my fridge at 18:05 to make it worse there was no communication in between I had to call and ask, beg for information regarding my parcel. When they arrived here they dropped my parcel a street away. They told me to sort myself out nothing to sign to acknowledge that I received my parcel. My fridge was left there at the streets and had to beg people to help me to carry it to the house. I bet if they ask the driver who received my parcel doesn't even know my name cause he didn't even care weather I'm the one who was waiting for the order. I'm so dissapointed in makro such a big company with as customer service 😒 very dissapointing.

makro is the most unreliable company to deal with.
i ordered my kids xmas gifts online - and the day before xmas they cancelled the last item without even advising me. worst service i have ever received. Please never order online from Makro. Out of the 6 items i ordered at the end of Nov, i have received 2 items and the rest were cancelled by Makro at all random dates.

I ordered an item on 11 December 2025…

I ordered an item on 11 December 2025 with a delivery date for 19th. The delivery never happened. I contacted Makro Customer Centre. They will escalate the problem to the third party who is the actual seller. On Saturday I was told they will escalate the problem with said third party. I phoned Monday 22 December. They again escalated it, that will take another 48 hours. Then they will cancel the order and start the refunding proses. It is unacceptable as it was a Xmas gift and specifically used Makro because of their good name. As for customer Service. The operator repeated word for word what I heard the first time. Why pay people to read the same message get a voice recording? I am disgusted

I am true disappointment with Makro

I am true disappointment with Makro, I trust that my order would be delivered in a timely manner and it was not the case. My fridge was said to be delivered yesterday 19 December then I said home literally all day waiting for my item only for them to tell me it would be deliver on the 24 December mind you on the app the actual delivery day is today the 20 December. I trusted I would receive my order and went ahead and bought items that need to be refrigerated. My food is going bad because this is day two that they decided not to make delivery. The staff know nothing about the whereabouts of their drivers the app don’t provide correct information at a lot.

I will never recommend any to order online I thought it was convenient but it’s not because I’m sitting with food that’s about to go bad, because no one understands the true meaning of customer satisfaction here and they do not keep their promise to deliver. So if you do order understand that your order will not arrived on the date you intended it for.

Faulty Fridge - No urgency to honor warranty.

Bought a Defy 614L DFF647 fridge less than a year ago. It broke and trying to deal with the warranty claims has been a nightmare. I have lost all my food as I got informed that it takes up to 5 business days for a technician to only come inspect. What insanity is that. One would think certain appliances like something that you keep thousands of rands of food in takes priority.

On top of that it is like applying for a home loan with all the info you need to provide them before they even book a technician. One would think providing them with the slip and a picture of the Fridge would be enough to prove you bought it. No they need serial numbers, date of purchase, Makro card number, etc. All that info is on the invoice???

Worst after sale treatment ever and who is going to replace all my lost food???

Will never buy from them again.

Apalling Service…

Gosh I wish had seen these reviews before placing an online order. Ordered and paid for a lawnmower on 11 December with a promised delivery date of 19 December. However the tracking has never progressed beyond "ready to ship". Concerned I have called multiple times speaking to Kim and others via call centre and WhatsApp. Each time making no progress beyond the Makro supplier being blamed. Trying to have the order cancelled is a nightmare with the waiting time for refunds being 14 working days which is equally unacceptable. Well this is the last time I order from Makro online a supposedly reputable dealer. The service from Amazon and Takealot is far superior.

Order placed and paid for on 29 November. Today, 18 December, NOTHING HAS BEEN DELIVERED!
I have heard so many excuses already about this non-performance and I am sick of it.

Makro Marketplace is a nightmare for third party sellers

Makro Marketplace is a nightmare for third-party sellers. I’ve had multiple issues on the platform, the most serious being other sellers using my business branding without authorization. Seller Support pushed me to Compliance, Compliance never responded, and the issue remains unresolved.

On top of this, Makro routinely refunds customers unfairly, often without properly engaging the third-party seller, which directly harms small businesses operating on their marketplace.

There is no accountability, no effective compliance enforcement, and no real seller protection. The marketplace is a joke and, quite frankly, atrocious for third-party sellers.

I would not recommend Makro Marketplace to any serious seller.

I am very much disappointed in Makro

I am very much disappointed in Makro. I ordered a 210cm Christmas Tree and I received a 180cm.. I called Makro enquiry and all they could say is that “That is not our tree, we are not allowed to exchange but just refund.” Doesn’t Makro check if their suppliers delivers correct items?!

This is not the first time even. Makro is very disappointing.

Dissapointing and possibly iilegal no exchange policy

Makro is a very well established retailer in South Africa. Disappointingly, this has not stopped them from engaging in anti-consumer business practices. I ordered a couch from the Makro online store at a discount. Makro then delivered the wrong couch. I informed them of this as soon as I found out. The customer support agents told me that I need to log a return to receive a refund. I informed them that this is not a sufficient remedy as it does not allow me to benefit from the original deal that was advertised to me. The customer support told me to just log a return and pay the difference to order the same couch again (which was now R 6000.00 more). This is absurd. You can certainly get a good deal from the Makro online store but there is no guarantee that you will receive the item you ordered and there is certainly no guarantee that Makro will offer a sufficient remedy.

Broken products resold

I bought a fan online from Makro for a gift exchange at work for our Christmas Party.
When the package arrived at work the box looked like it was opened and resealed, I reported the issue to Makro and there courier company The Courier Guy via there online service review. I wrapped the gift and gave it to my colleague at work, the next day I learned that there was no screws in the package to attach the blade or the stand to the base. I thereafter contact Makro and they advised me to return the product via there online returns portal. My colleague had brought the fan back to the office so I could get it returned upon looking at the condition of the product received I was absolutely disgusted at condition of the fan. There are 2 bases, the grill has no emblem, the motor has scratches, the bottom of the stand is bent and the is no fittings supplied.
Makro has agreed to refund me the money spent. My concern is that Makro deals with unscrupulous online supplies which ends up wasting our time and money. Now I have to wait 2 to 4 days for the package to be fetched then a further 5 to 7 days to get my refund paid back to me as a loyal client of Makro for years it feel like they just care about there own bottom line and nothing about the customer, no apology or anything, very disappointing service from the countries biggest retailer.

The call center should be closed…

The call center should be closed because you get zero help as customer, if the call disconnects while the full of attitude call center agent attempts to help there's no effort to call back the client. Doug Jones should seriously consider doing a audit on the call center and how they communicate with their fulfillment department because the overall service is trash on a hot day.

Doesn't deserve a one-star paid for a product it's very quick to take my money on the 1st of December delivery was supposed to be the 11th of December no confirmation of payments received to me nothing until I complained on the 12th and I am still waiting I had to cancel my holiday to my family and now I'm going a game on Friday and guess what it is still not with me I will never buy from macro again

Payment taken multiple times, order never fulfilled

I attempted several times to buy a Hisense 75-inch TV from Makro Online between 11 and 16 December 2025. Each attempt followed the same pattern:

• My bank card was successfully charged
• The Makro website showed “Order not placed” or “Order pending – payment not confirmed”
• No order was ever confirmed or fulfilled
• Days later, Makro reversed the payment

This happened multiple times, including my most recent order placed on 16/12/25. My bank statements clearly show that the payments were authorised and settled. Makro later reversed them, which confirms the issue is not a bank or card failure, but a problem inside Makro’s own systems after payment is taken.

The issue is compounded by being repeatedly advised to place new orders. Each attempt resulted in further amounts being deducted from my bank account, with no corresponding order being fulfilled. While these payments were later reversed, this created a clear opportunity cost, as my funds were tied up for days at a time while I waited for refunds, limiting my ability to make alternative arrangements.

To rule out a payment issue, I used the same card successfully for another Makro order (Paper and a Printer which were delivered by 16/12/25). That order went through without issue.

Customer support repeatedly advised me to “place a new order”, which only resulted in further charges and reversals. I provided bank statements and even a bank confirmation letter, but the problem persisted. No manual intervention was applied to actually fulfil the order.

This TV was meant to be a Christmas gift and the repeated system failures caused unnecessary stress, delays and time wasted.

After reading other reviews, it’s clear this is not an isolated incident. The pattern of payment taken, order failing, and refunds issued later appears to be systemic.

Makro Online should not be advertising stock or accepting payment if their system cannot reliably complete orders, especially for high-value items.

THEY SCAMMED ME

I'M SCAMMED! This is honestly the most shameful company I've ever dealt with of this size. They didn't deliver my mattress and are NOT refunding me. Their customer support is using excuses for the last 2 months. It's honestly INSANE how a company this size can SCAM you. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't buy from these SCAMMERS!!!
