I can't play guitar. I tried learning ages ago but gave up. I recently went into Project Music with a view to trying again (at a much more advanced age). I saw Lee and Finn for some very initial advice and was genuinely impressed at their expertise and patience and willingness to spare me a generous amount of their time and advice and allow me to sit and fret a couple of guitars on my knee.
It wasn't the right time to buy a guitar but I certainly know where to go when I'm ready.... the shop is an Aladdins Cave of everything anyone could possibly want and these fellas are the ones to put your trust in.

I bought a Maton acoustic in December 2025. I called and spoke with the staff before ordering. Service was great and delivery was prompt.
I had a minor issue a week or so later and got back in touch. Staff were outstanding, had the guitar collected, sorted and returned. The price was good, sales and after sales was excellent. I would recommend them.

I recently bought an Atkin acoustic guitar from Project Music and their service and support was top-notch. They provided a lot of info as I was buying online, which was really helpful. Pre-delivery, they ensured the guitar would be delivered on a day that suited me. It arrived, and as promised, it's absolutely amazing. Set-up and ready to play from the case.

finally got my hands on a custom shop, its a big investment but im loving it, great online advice from phill, thanks, quick delivery and the beauty arrived, playing great straight out of the box, i now know were to shop for all my guitars.

I made an impromptu visit to the store in Exeter yesterday as I had recently taken up the guitar again. I was served by Lee who was a real credit to the store. He let me play with a couple of beautiful instruments without any pressure at all, explaining the unique selling points of each one. I told him I promised myself a really nice guitar when I felt I could do it justice. Normally a salesman tunes the instrument, shreds for a minute or two and then hands you it making you feel intimidated. I will be back soon to treat myself to a beautiful Gretsch that I’ve set my heart on, as I know if I buy local it will be set up before I leave the store. Great service.

Ordered a Strat online. I received a call that day asking how i would like it setup and what day would suit for delivery.

The guitar arrived a few days later, setup and ready to play. Have used these guys many times and will always be my go to store,

Ordered a guitar from Project Music online. Didn't hear anything for a few days, so contacted to see when it was shipping. Was told that the wrong guitar had been sent, and that the actual model I ordered was unavailable. They offered me a discount on the newer model, but it was well over my initial budget. I eventually agreed to purchase, but mentioned that the process had been frustrating. They cancelled my order, saying it was better I looked somewhere else if I felt frustrated. Very surreal experience. Would not recommend buying - or in my case, attempting to buy - anything from this store.

Helpful on the phone with what came across as a genuine want to make sure I was buying the right guitar. They have a proper workshop and we’re happy to set my new national guitar up for slide. It’s a wonderful instrument and I am very happy with the service and attitude of the staff and wanted to share my experience.

Bought an Eastman T59/v online from Project Music. They were friendly and helpful at first, I paid in full, it arrived soon after. On looking at the guitar I noticed the neck pickup had its screw sticking out about 1 cm, the treble E string was nearly touching the bridge pick-up so that it fretted out. The bass E and A strings had a horrible buzzing after the 9th fret. I called them to tell them about this as it had been messed with and not set-up at all, and was told to speak to the technician, when I called him he didn't want to know, made an offhand comment that, this buzzing can happen and it's because of my playing. Basically put the phone down on me. I was polite and did not deserve this treatment. Subsequently took the guitar to a proper skilled technician and when he saw how it was set up he was scathing about the attitude and skill of the guy. Basically said these guys have a reputation of wanting to sell you an instrument and get you out of the door,they don't want to know about any problems. After £100 to do a proper set-up and check the frets, the guitar now plays beautifully, I can only assume the guy Project Music used then (and maybe still do) is a bodge merchant and does not know how to talk to customers. I was so angry, I did not want to even write a review about this, until recently when a friend mentioned what happened, so I thought I will write this review (I have calmed down a bit after nearly 3 years). The phone call went something like this "Buzzing??...nah mate that's your playing, ..alright? Bye!"...click.

Great service. I called to ask for some advice on buying a Gibson Les Paul Junior and agreed my set up requirements. My guitar arrived on the specified date and was in perfect condition. Definitely would recommend!

Spent a few weeks chatting to the guys at Project Music about a custom shop Tele. Then made a trip down to see it and buy it if it lived up to my expectations. I only needed about 40 seconds with the guitar before I was sold on it. It’s a fantastic guitar and everything I wanted from a CS Tele. Throughout the whole process Project Music have been excellent. I mainly dealt with a guy called Phil, but all the staff were very good. This is my 3rd successful purchase from these guys.

I’ve bought three guitars from them this year and generally they’re very good. My first purchase was a Johnny Marr Jag and arrived in beautiful condition and set up extremely well. My second, a fever dream yellow JMarr Jag was set up well but the pick up selector blade and knob were not brilliant and the knob came off almost immediately. The case was also less than desirable given that it featured protruding panel pins. Poor details to be left unrectified in a +£2000 purchase. Finally I bought a pre-owned Ricky 330 which was better than described and nicely set up.
Overall Project Music is a good store and they get a lot right but attention to detail let them down on purchase two. Bit surprised they sent it out like that.
