its les than one star. they sent me the wrong fish the first time and now they tried to do it again so there wont be a third time. it took ages to get my money back too. im very suspicious about what fish they do actually have. all show and no go.

Have always found TropCo to be helpful and very punctual, would use as a better option

Wanted to buy £150-£200 worth of fish from Sims, but they do not bother to respond to (multiple) queries sent via email or their website about the fish and their species, parameters etc - so no sale and will not consider in future (already used another company who value custom).

Small issue with an incorrect fish sent first time around, seemed to be a genuine error and was quickly resolved. I did receive the correct fish roughly a week after the initial delivery along with a follow up call to check everything was ok. Fish were well packaged, heat packs still warm and accurate tracking Information was provided.

Will use again in the future because the issue was resolved and they seem to genuinely care that the customer is satisfied

Ordered 4 corydoras Robineae what arrived was 4 corydoras lessex totally wrong.
Phoned sims was told they would contact me with a delivery date .
Received phone call from sims 10/09/25 it appears their is a new gentlemen running sims Very apologetic about the issue and has promised to send correct fish .
Left me feeling confident in their customer service .Will update if or when I receive correct fish
Replacements received well done simms.

I can't believe that Sims has bad reviews, this firm goes out of there way to rectify any problems if they occur at a particular cost to themselves, Used Sims many times now, and all fish received are healthy, coloured up lovely and lively on delivery, I live the other end of the country in Sunderland from where they are sent from all packaging is perfect and delivered expertly, Exceptional staff and the owner Martyn is very approachable, give him a ring and order some fish and find out for yourself, I've used many other so called fish stores who will sell you crap and won't return calls or emails, Simms is top quality and a pleasure to do business with 5 star for me AGAIN

Annoyed and disappointed - 1st round of fish came; order of 4cm dwarf chain loaches - no more than 2cm so some subsequently eaten, same with bristle nose plecs, orange sulewesi snails ordered - onion snails received, variety of coloured shrimp ordered - very few have any colour, certain type of Angel fish ordered - incorrect type sent, female betta - incorrect colour sent

2nd order (to rectify some of first) incorrect snails sent again, incorrect Angels sent again, incorrect colour Betta sent again (separate order - nothing offered re first Betta order). Appreciated the thought of sending additional plecs and angels, but the angels were still wrong and I didn’t really have the room anyway.

Having spent a lot of money (3 figures) I now have at least 2 tanks full of fish I didn’t order / want, with no room left now to get the fish I do want. Tried to find out about larger dwarf chains (which I do have some room for - mainly cos some of the small ones have gone) but Sims are no longer responding.

I should make it clear that all the fish are healthy, parts of the order were correct and Sims did agree to rectify the other initial problems. My issues are the advertised sizes and the colours / types which I specifically ordered were incorrect and the fact that their rectification process failed.

Either someone there is not able to tell the correct colours / species for an order, or they are deliberately sending out stock that no one else wants knowing full well that there’s little you can do about it once received.

There is always an element of risk when ordering fish online - particularly in respect of colours and size, but to this extreme??? Have never experienced it before elsewhere

Sell me poor fish and would not stop calling me until I spoke and agreed to change feedback. This company has no clue on uk law and thinks they can do whatever they like well this time to the wrong person.

I ordered 20 Otocinclus from the online store, much cheaper than any othe that I could find. Tgey arrived well packaged and naturally, I was expecting a couple DOA but, I was happily surprised to receive all 20 alive and relatively healthy. Almost a week later, all are doing well growing little round bellies.

Amazing fish, excellent customer service, highly recommend. Outstanding!!!!!!

Good value and fish in great condition, I have ordered and received on 2 occasions one with Cichlids and today with Tetras. Bothe delivered with care well packed thank you

I have bought tropical fish from this company twice now and both times got the wrong fish delivered. The first batch killed off my existing rainbow fishes worth about £120. I’ve got one left. Have had to medicate my fish twice since. This time I am taking precautions and medicating to prevent any more fish deaths. Most of the new fish died too that time.

Sorry to say I won’t be trusting these people with another purchase. So bad to just send fish you haven’t ordered, what are they thinking? They should at least have called or emailed to ask first! But then I would have said no and cancelled my order, so this way they get to keep the money I suppose. Very bad practise.

You can’t get away with this kind of service for long. I’ve been keeping tropical fish for 15 years and never encountered this kind of company before.

Eventually got what I ordered, but wouldn't recommend. Took 3 goes to deliver the 12 fish I ordered. First delivery had 3 correct and healthy, 6 incorrect and 3 substitutions (without asking first). Of these 3 died - Mbuna in shared bags is not a good idea! Second delivery better, individually bagged, but still missing 6 fish I ordered (no comms), 1 fish deformed. Third delivery completed my order, but I got 4 extra fish i wasn't expecting - potentially a nice gesture, but not if I don't have space for them (could have mentioned it before shipping). Got there in the end but had to wait in 3 times, communication was very painful.
Much happier with fish bought from elsewhere.

I am very disappointed
On the 6th January 2023 I waited in for a delivery.I had ordered an African side necked turtle.
I phoned in the afternoon as there was no delivery.
I telephoned and was told that it had been sent out and was probably at Gatwick as they have had problems with the delivery company.I was told that as it hadn't been delivered it would be returned to the shop and I would have to choose another delivery date.
I chose the following Tuesday,there was no confirmation on the Monday as I was promised but whilst I was at work a parcel arrived.
When I opened the parcel,there was a map turtle in the bag,in very little water.I have photos of this if required.
A completely different species of turtle and not one that I wanted to keep.
I emailed and messaged,no reply.
Today 13th January,I waited in again for another delivery,once again an African side necked turtle,no delivery yet again.
Emailed and messaged with no reply.
Asked via messenger if I could use my ten pound prize to be taken off the order (Had won a competition through them).was told that I had come through to the marketing department and to phone.
I am really disappointed in this firm.
These are live animals and the customer care is appalling.
Update still no response and now the website have upped the price of a side necked turtle from £50 to £250.

Bought a fish in their auction which they wer extremely helpful and fast to reply involving receiving their money etc. Fish was shipped and arrived the next day as promised but looking terrible covered in some kind of fungus looking film and had quite bad scarring (which is sometimes the case with cichlids but still) and was dead within 24 hours so had to treat my whole tank. Sent messages and photos and have been completely ignored. They have a no refund DOA policy but this was clearly a sick fish that was sent. Would not recommend and I’ve dealt with many online companies and been keeping fish for over 10 years
