I’ve had a terrible experience with…terrible quality and customer service
I’ve had a terrible experience with Frye and am extremely disappointed not only with the quality of the boots I received, but also with the customer service I’ve received.
I purchased a pair of Veronica boots listed as “Resale – Never Worn” and paid full price. Although this particular model had been discontinued, I decided to purchase them because I really liked the style and, most importantly, they were advertised as never worn.
When I received the boots, the boots and soles otherwise appeared to be in unworn condition. However, I noticed that the inside left portion of one boot had a deep crease and looked heavily distressed, almost as though someone had tried to force their foot into the boot. Because of this, I contacted Frye several times, and I was eventually refunded a portion of the purchase price.
Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. The second time I wore the boot, I was leaving for work when the zipper completely broke. My foot became stuck inside the boot, and I had no choice but to wear the broken boot to work all day. When I got home, my husband had to use pliers to force the zipper down so I could finally get my foot out.
A zipper breaking on the second time the boot was worn is completely unacceptable, especially for a pair of boots from a brand like Frye. I was also extremely disappointed with the customer service when I reached out a second time about the broken zipper. Despite contacting Frye about the issue, I never received a response.
This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating. Between the unexplained deep crease in the boot, the zipper breaking after only the second wear, and then receiving no response from customer service, I am extremely disappointed with both the product and the way Frye has handled my concerns.
***UPDATE: Frye’s Customer Service did reach out and offered to issue me a full refund.
Awful
Awful. I had vintage frye campus style they were gorgeous and would be a peice I could pass down. These new campus I bought lost their "wood" rim to the foot bed almost instantly. They scuff on leather basically if you look at it the wrong way. They're so cheaply made its deplorable. Im disgusted with their quality and pricing. Never again.
Bought a pair of boots online
Bought a pair of boots online, no exchange or refunds? Great business moto.
Bad Experience
I've purchased from Frye in store in the past and loved the shoes. The last couple of experiences online have been a bit more challenging.
My last experience was incredibly poor, despite ordering size 10 many times in the past, the shoes were too loose when received, but zero options for exchange.
In addition, I received another customers invoice in my box with private information, which is also a remarkably poor experience... My order detail wasn't even available.
Needless to say, I will not be ordering from Frye again.
Very disappointed and frustrated
I have never ever ordered a product online especially a product of expense as a Frye product to be told I
"COULD NOT" return or even exchange. I have worn Frye footwear for over 20 years but I will never buy this product again. This company is selling shoes as a final sale then telling customers they can sell their order on the exchange program for a store credit. This to me is a scam and misleading good customers. I will not be a Frye customer or scammed by Frye again.
A company can lose a customer over a belt. Frye just did.
★☆☆☆☆
I purchased several items from Frye at the end of April, including a belt that turned out to be inexplicably oversized. Shortly after my purchase, I was out of the country on business for several months and didn't receive or inspect my order until I returned.
When I attempted to make a return, I couldn't even locate my order on Frye's website. Customer service was equally disappointing. The representative was difficult to understand, but agreed to "escalate" my request because I had apparently "violated" Frye's 30-day return policy. As expected, the request was denied. Their solution? Sell my brand-new belt on Frye's resale site.
Seriously?
In today's retail environment, customer service is a competitive advantage. Frye has chosen rigid policy over common sense and customer loyalty. There is nothing about the brand today that justifies treating customers this way—especially when there are countless competitors offering comparable products with far better service.
A company can lose a customer over a belt. Frye just did.
I'll gladly spend my money elsewhere.
Expensive Products, CRAP Quality
Their products are so expensive you would think they would care about the quality. NOPE! Bought a $500 bag and it came apart in 8 months. Called and they said, we don't warranty any of our products. When the response should have been - "OMG, we stand by the quality of our products! How can we make this right?!". DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!
BUYERS BEWARE
BUYERS BEWARE! Frye sold me faulty boots under the guise of “Frye found”. A crookedly mounted heel, leather with visible machine slash cut marks and Poor construction is not ‘preloved and/or lightly worn! These boots have never been worn at all. Is this how you offload your rubbish???? Rip off customers??!!!!! And your solution now is to offer me $40 Frye credit ????
Pick up your garbage and refund my money in full immediately!!!
HIGHWAY ROBBERY
Only one star bc something had to be entered in order for me to leave a review. This is a very simple review....HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!! $500.00 for the Logan Bag & only 7 months later....IT'S FALLING APART!!! The leather is peeling and strings are popping out everywhere!!! I only paid $300 for my last work bag and I carried it for more than FIVE YEARS!!! I only had to replace it because the zipper stripped and after shopping around, I didn't feel like it was worth paying over $100 to have it replaced....BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! I will NEVER shop from the Frye Company again!!! This piece of CHEAP CRAP can't possibly be real genuine leather! NEVER AGAIN!!!
Connor Venetian Dye Bleeds
I bought a pair of their Connor Venetian loafers on May 7, 2026. After only one wearing, the dye in the shoes stained the yellow socks that I had been wearing. The shoes had not been exposed to water or perspiration. Frye refused my request for a return and refund, citing the "Final Sale" status of the purchase. I would understand their position if I did not like the styling or fit, but these shoes clearly had a defect in their manufacturing.
Long-time customer—disappointing experience and rigid policies
I’ve been a Frye customer for nearly 30 years, which makes this experience particularly frustrating.
I recently ordered the Carson Piping Bootie in the same size (8.5) as a pair I already own. The new pair fits materially smaller. After raising the issue, Frye acknowledged that this is effectively a different version of the boot with a different fit—despite being sold under nearly the same name.
I requested a simple exchange to a larger size (which is in stock). I did not ask for a refund—just a size exchange so I could actually wear the boots.
Frye refused, citing their “final sale” policy, even after escalation and review.
Policies are understandable, but they should not override basic fairness. When a product’s fit changes without clear disclosure, customers should not be left with something unusable. At a minimum, an exchange should be offered.
This was an easy opportunity to stand behind both the product and a long-time customer. Instead, Frye chose rigid policy over reasonable resolution.
Very disappointing—and enough to make me reconsider the brand going forward.
extremely disappointed
I am extremely disappointed with my recent purchase from Frye. While the Carson Ballet flats appear to be well made, they run larger than expected. When I attempted to exchange them for a smaller size, I was informed that exchanges were not permitted. It was only then that I learned the item was final sale. Despite the $115 price point, neither returns nor exchanges were allowed. I wish this policy had been communicated more clearly, and it significantly impacted my overall experience. For the hefty price and terrible experience, I will not be purchasing from the Frye Company again.
Their harness boot is a total piece of…
Their harness boot is a total piece of junk. Its not leather. Mr. Frye would be spinning in his grave. This company must be owned by private equity who are sh***ing on the brand history.
Go buy another boot (like tecovas justin dan post or durango)...anything but this junk.

Bought 2 of their handbags 400$ each and the snap broke on both shoulder straps the company refused to do anything to make it right. Have bought my last thing from them
Cheaply made product with bad customer service.
I bought a backpack type bag less than a year ago. I barely use it. The zipper on the main compartment broke so I reached out to customer service. They literally told me to find a local cobbler because they won't do anything to replace or repair the bag. Boo
Frye boots are NOT true to size. ORDER SMALLER
Frye boots are NOT true to size. I normally wear a size 9 and ended up with a size 8. I purchase 2 pairs and still didn't get the sizing right and ended up purchasing from Amazon because Frye didn't have my size in stock and frankly I was tired of dealing with them. I purchased one pair on December 1st and the 2nd pair Decmeber 8th and DID NOT SEE MY FULL REFUNDS ON MY CREDIT CARD UNTIL FEBRUARY 3, 2026. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT RECOMMEND. The boots are great but FRYE CANADA is AWFUL to deal with.
I would give zero stars if that were an…
I would give zero stars if that were an option. This company is a scam. I was under the impression that this is a legitimate company. But when you contact the customer service, the first thing they say is that they will send us a $100.00 Walmart gift certificate if we give them our checking account number. When we decline that and to pursue our call, if this case to return the boots, we get immediately hung up. This has happened repeatedly. This is wrong on so many levels and dishonest.
This is the absolute worst shoe company…
This is the absolute worst shoe company I’ve ever dealt with in my life. I bought a pair of $400 shoes seven months ago. The heel came off of them. They were purchased at Nordstrom‘s but I was past the 90 day return policy. I called Fry understanding there was a two-year warranty on all shoes and was told that there is absolutely no warranty and they would do absolutely nothing to help me. Worst company ever. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy any shoes from them.
Will never buy from them again
Will never buy from them again. I have a problem just like another comment. Boots not true to size. And they not willing to exchange to the size that’s fit.
Horrendous customer service
Horrendous customer service. The boots themselves are ok, but they are not true to size and they will not let you exchange your purchase for a different size.
