The Hide at Manton bay Opiniões 

This glamping retreat is an absolute gem close to the shores of Rutland Water. We stayed in one of the stargazer glamping tents with views of the reservoir, which were well kitted out with a kettle, tea and coffee, a fridge, a lamp and a proper bed. There was also a useful hanging rail and cutlery, pans and crockery. The treats provided (locally made cider and flavoured popcorn) were a nice additional touch.
There was a seating area in front of the tent and a private, covered BBQ area with a picnic table and hammock down a short path from the tent. As well as the BBQ/firepit, there was also a gas ring for cooking. A designated shower room with toilet was in a separate building round the back of the tent.
We didn't meet Natalia and Matt but they kept in touch via WhatsApp and provided helpful instructions for check-in/check-out and information about the site. They have clearly put a lot of thought into this site, which also had a standard camping area and some huts with hot tubs. Solar lights lit the way along the paths at night and in the BBQ areas. Little details had been considered, such as wood for the fire pit, matches, corkscrew etc.
The site is on the South Shore next door to the Lyndon Nature Reserve where you can get onto the path round the reservoir, which is great for walking and cycling. We hired bikes at Normanton and you can also get on a boat trip from Normanton and the watersports centre at Whitwell on the North Shore.
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay and would come again. It's the perfect place to relax.

A beautiful site with stunning views over Rutland water. So peaceful...just what was needed to have a reset over the summer break

Great camping pitches, very private and spacious. The views across the water were fabulous and a great location for access to the water and Ospreys. However, the toilets, showers and washing up area needed a revamp and more of them. When the site was full, there was some queueing. The arrangement fell a bit temporary and cobbled together, although mostly clean. It could be a really lovely campsite with a bit more work on the facilities.

Stunning... best glamping experience to date. What lovely views to wake up to every morning along with multitude of birds chirping away. The belle tents have everything you need for a completely chilled out break. The private bathroom was a nice touch and just a short distance from the tent. The site felt very secure and secluded. Even though there are other belle tents nearby it feels very private. The covered area is a lovely touch with hammock and swing chair and the facility to cook via BBQ. We opted not cook as we ate out every day in the local area; Oakham ad Stamford both provide a good choice.

What an absolute gem of a location.

The sunsets and sunrises were just stunning and we felt so relaxed here, so it's a no brainer that we will definitely return for another chilled out break.

Great views from up on the tent sites. Clean facilities, great location. Only grumble was the hot water was a bit hit and miss at the facilities. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Could do with another wash up sink rather than just the one. Horse and Jockey pub at Manton I would recommend - Just about walkable

We had a pitch for campervan with fantastic views overlooking Rutland Water. Facilities excellent everything you could need for a relaxing camping weekend.

We've been for the last two years. From the moment my fiancé booked our first trip to right now, we've had such an amazing rapport with the owners.

They've remained in contact with us throughout the year to inform us of upcoming availability etc.

Whilst there, they've been able to give us information on things to do within the local area, and we've followed up on them and it's been an amazing time.

We stay in the stargazer tents, and WOW is the only word I can say. They are spotlessly clean, the views are to die for AND you even get your own bathroom!! Which again, are spotless!! The bed is so comfortable, the owners even leave little drinks and snacks for your arrival (we've found many snacks which we've loved and continue to buy to this day!!).

There's a full sized bathroom - shower, sink and toilet with lots of space to get dried and dressed in. There's a tap usually next to the tents which is for your water/kettle/for cooking.

The team provides you with the necessary cooking stuff too, pot, pan, utensils. You can either cook over the open fire, or on the hob. Once finished, there's an area to clean up properly which has an outstanding view of the bay.

In June 2024, my (now) fiancé, organised our engagement with the team at The Hide, and it was absolutely unreal. I couldn't have asked for a better place to get engaged. Once I said yes, Natalia chased us in her golf buggy and gave us a card and a bottle of prosecco.

The team at The Hide are the most amazing people we could ever wish for!! We'll forever come back to this beautiful place, it's our forever peaceful area.

We cant thank you enough for creating a space where we can relax, recharge and stop all the brain noise of day to day life.

We had a wonderful stay at the shepherds hut at the Hide at Manton Bay. Natalia greeted us warmly and the Wood fired hot tub instructions were perfect. The view is incredible. It really can’t be beaten. I looked long and hard for places to stay in the area and there is absolutely nowhere that has a view as good as here. The nature review was beautiful for an evening walk and late lunch at Rutland nursery also worked perfectly.

The welcome food and drink gifts were very thoughtful (especially with Natalia checking dietary reqs which no one has ever done for me before!) and the bed was very comfy. The hot tub stayed hot all evening and was easy to heat and the shower was warm with good pressure.

The lack of oven was slightly frustrating. That’s probably the only small niggle. We’ve stayed in 4 shepherds huts over the past 18 months and this was the first without an oven/airfryer. But the firepit was very useful and there were some fabulous restaurants nearby to eat at; Hitchin Barns, hambleton hall, The Fox, are all super close by.

We will absolutely return and it really felt like a little haven and was SO peaceful.

What an amazing view! Totally peaceful and really great design of the site with everyone having privacy.
The private bathroom was so pretty inside and the bell tent had such a comfy bed with fantastic pillows.
The cooking area had everything you needed and the shelter made it a great place to relax by the fire pit.
The only thing we found was missing was a way of storing water in the tent for making tea or having a drink so pretty perfect really.
We would definitely stay again.

We spent a wonderful 2 nights in a bell tent. The tent was beautifully furnished with lots of little extras like a bottle of sparkling elderflower, coffee and plunger, robes, etc. And the view from the deck was just perfect, especially when the sun sets! The covered area exclusive to each tent with BBQ, hammock and swing was fun. Natalia met us on arrival, showed us around and then left us to enjoy our time, but was still available on WhatsApp for any question we had... perfect hospitality!

Really lovely two night stay camping at The Hide. My husband and I have stayed in the Shepherd's Hut (which we also loved) and this time came back with our tent and some other family members joined us too. The weather on the first night was awful (lots of rain!) but to wake up to the lovely view from the tent made up for this! The next day the weather was amazing so we could appreciate the environment even more! Loved the spacious camping spots and it was all very peaceful with a great view of the stars on a clear night. We also hired a firepit and wood and really enjoyed toasting marshmallows on both evenings (despite the rain!). Natalia and Matt are really helpful and we were given all the information that we needed in the lead up to our stay.

Lovely spot, quiet, great views, nice facilities, excellent communication, would highly recommend and likely to come back!

great communication and amazing views from the camping spots. loved the individual spaces with the mature hedges. its a special place. only small niggle was the broken lock on one of the shower doors and the cold shower on the second morning. One shower has a shelf, but the other one has no where to put anything. Red partridges wandering around was a bonus. would love to come back, maybe if there was a one night stay option. Maybe some sort of digital gate lock would be an improvement on having to yank the chain about.

We had a two night stay at The Hide in one of the Lotus Belle tents and we would definitely recommend!

Firstly, we were met by Natalia on site who showed us to our tent, bathroom, bbq area - instantly we both thought how friendly and welcoming Natalia was. In fact, during out stay we spoke to both Natalia and her partner (sorry didn't catch his name) who were both really friendly.

The set up at The Hide is perfect, the equipment and facilities provided during our stay were all in excellent condition - not to mention the bbq coal and more than generous amount of firewood to burn in the evenings.

We were also impressed with the layout of tent pitches (we are looking to book and stay again), the shepherd huts and the Belle tents and how from each area you have a wonderful view of Rutland Water whilst not overlooking the privacy of others stating on site.

It's fair to say we had a lovely stay, all positive from our point of view.

We look forward to staying at The Hide again in the near future.

Just had our 5th stay at The Hide. We love it so much, it is beyond beautiful. We've stayed in the stargazer tents and loved them and this time we tested out the cabin which was very clean and cosy and we had a great evening relaxing in the hot tub, watching the incredible sunset. Natalia and Matt are always warm and welcoming and really helpful. The perfect hosts and great people. See you again soon guys :)

We have just recently stayed at this beautiful site with fabulous views over Rutland Water.We received a warm welcome and the Lodge was well furnished very comfortable and had the most lovely views! The site itself is very peaceful with Pheasants and Rabbits running about. If you’re camping the individual pitches are all separated with tall hedges for totally privacy but still retaining a lovely view. We cannot wait to return in September.
