Loyalty Review Great Job
On Thursday 30th December 2001 I put in a claim for my Samsung Galaxy A20 since it was broken, which was still under warranty but Samsung refused to help me. I didn't have portables listed on my Home & Contents so Cassandra put through a loyalty review for me on Tuesday 4th January 2022. On Wednesday 2nd February 2022 they paid me $300 with bank transfer towards a new phone.
Absolutely terrible how a long term…
Absolutely terrible how a long term customer has been treated. Absolutely no regard for health and safety and noone replies back from racv terrible
International driver permit
With the possibility of driving in the UK, I checked RACV's Web page to see if I needed an International Driver Permit.
Yes . I do.
Apparently.
As I trusted them, I proceeded. Easy online process.
However, my mistake.
I should have checked elsewhere to be sure.
Turns out, I wasted $42 plus postage.
NO Need! So, please learn from my mistake. Unless you'll be there longer than 12 months, a NZ or Aus driver licence is sufficient.
I called RACV to change my tyre when I…
I called RACV to change my tyre when I got a flat. It took a long time for him to change it my car is lowered but he had too much trouble for a professional. I drove it home on the space saver. I of course took it to Bridgestone to get a new tyre a few days later when Bridgestone told me they could not put a new tyre in as whoever changed my tyre didn’t put the nuts in straight and had cross threaded them and a mechanic would have to get the space saver off. I called RACV and they arranged for a tow truck to come pick my car up to take it to the mechanic. The tow truck driver was the same RACV roadside assistance employee whom had changed my tyre. He immediately accused me of driving too far on the space saver and that’s why the nut was cross threaded. Bridgestone told me that would not cross thread a nut and it was because it wasn’t put in straight. They then took it to the RACV service workshop in Mildura. They then contacted me and told me one if my rear springs was broken and they’d have to replace that before giving it back to me. At this point I told them I didn’t want them doing anymore work on my car and I’d have the spring replaced elsewhere. The employee at the reception desk was very rude as RACV customer support had organised a taxi to pick up my car, it dropped me off at 4pm and he said I told you it wouldn’t be ready until 4:30. I waited and the same roadside assistance employee brought my car out and said it was not safe to leave the workshop. I signed a waiver as requested and took my car to a proper mechanic! Needless to say I don’t have RACV roadside assistance anymore.

Definatley Don't recomend to RACV
my car has been involed in accident that is also not my fault and my car got back side damage its not very bad damage. Racv they did straighteaway wrighte off without my permission and also i have try to call them they took 2 hr to pick up the call because of that accident i lost my job they didn't even provide me car service also. I am execisting customer with racv last 3 years i have been paying comphernsive insurence and this is my first incident and that is also not my fault. after waiting 1 hr on call they didn't even given me proper answers, i have to call them everyday and same answers they gone come up and after the final settelement also they come to me payout after 1 month. i don't even go back to this company in my whole life this is very bad experince i face with them i don't recomend to go anyone this insurance company. They have very bad customer service.
Incompetent apathy
Appalling standard of 'service'. A family members car was hit by an RACV customer. They could not have been any less helpful if they'd actively sought to be. Never once contacted proactively. Minimum 20min wait times to talk to the Claims Department every single time, if the call doesn't drop out. Complaint emails unanswered. Requests for contact ignored. Multiple instances of misinformation. This company is a shell of its previous standards and unconcerned about it. BUT, if you want to buy insurance, they'll answer your call in less than 30secs - says it all.
Definitely don’t recommend RACV
After 20 years of having comp car insurance, I lodged a not at fault claim. I had to chase them myself for any updates. ( I suffered serious injuries in the accident and having to chase my insurer was the last thing I should have had to do). Extremely difficult to get any information or answers from. Mind boggling how unhelpful they are. Stunned that such a major organisation has such terrible processes.
Beware of RACV Batteries Running a fleet of vehicles I thought…
Running a fleet of vehicles I thought it would be wise to use racv batteries as they have a 2 year warranty in house unfortunately their batteries are the worst batteries I have ever used constantly failing and causing issues with my fleet of vehicles they must buy them from China in bulk then sell the useless batteries to their loyal customers BEWARE OF RACV batteries they are definitely the worst batteries available to man kind
I'm sick of racv
I'm sick of racv. This time I go online to get a quote and when I get to the end it says there's been an error and need to call, I call, then on hold for half hour and then get cut off.
This is just one of my episodes with racv, always ending in the same frustration.
I organised my insurance with AAMI from start to end while I was just on hold with racv.
I've been with racv for 30 years, and now it seems they don't care about you as a customer. I'd rather pay more and get service rather than spending half my day going around in circles.
Bye bye.
Beware of using RACV Travel Insurance
Beware of using RACV Travel Insurance - the claim process can be a nightmare. RACV Travel Insurance is operated by Tokio Marine Management Australasia. When taking out the policy, the service was great. BUT my experience when trying to make a claim has been absolutely awful. Only 4 days before our departure on a long-delayed (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) trip to Europe, my husband suddenly and completely unexpectedly became severely ill, and was rushed to hospital. He was diagnosed with acute, sudden onset leukaemia. He has absolutely no medical history that indicated this would happen. Obviously we couldn't go on our trip, and we made a claim for the lost payments for a cruise on the Croatian coast, and the first couple of nights accommodation which were the only parts of the trip not cancellable at short notice.
Trying to make the claim has become a nightmare. The approach of RACV/Tokio Marine has been to continually ask for more and more medical information, over a period of more than 3 months. Each time we submit additional medical information, the response comes back that they want more information, or the same information already supplied in a different format.
I have now uploaded into their online claim system (you can't email them) a total of 27 documents supporting our claim (from our GP, hospitals and medical specialists), but once again RACV/Tokio Marine have responded that more medical details are required. They have already been provided with more than 2 years of complete medical records, but have rejected them because their assessor, Manus, says (in a recorded telephone conversation) that patient consultation notes have to be sourced from a digital patient medical record system - which our family GP doesn't have - our GP still writes all his patient medical/consultation notes by hand during each consultation, and has already provided scans of 4 pages of his very detailed medical notes to RACV.
Our GP has also offered several options that RACV/Tokio Marine can use to confirm all the scanned notes provided are genuine. But RACV/Tokio Marine wont accept his proposed verification solutions. In fact, the RACV/Tokio Marine assessor falsely accused me (in a recorded telephone conversation) that "you could have written them yourself" because the medical notes were handwritten by the GP. I strongly objected to being accused of fraud - there was absolutely no basis for this appalling accusation, but the assessor, Manus Bhatt, refused to retract the false accusation. All this is despite the fact that my husband's medical specialists (at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre), as well as his GP of more than 30 years, have provided written confirmation/documentation to RACV/Tokio Marine that his leukaemia was completely and totally "out of the blue" with absolutely no prior medical indication or history that this could happen. Sharing this so that others (particularly long-standing, 45+ years RACV Gold/Club Members like me) are aware that claiming on RACV Travel Insurance can be a total nightmare. They will deny a genuine medical claim if your GP does not keep their patient medical records in their required format (which they don't specify, and seems to change with each communication they send me) and none of this is mentioned in the PDS.
Ripping off Premium Roadside assistance fee !
It's rather tricky scenario where I rang RACV to sign up and get the roadside assistance service on the same day ! I wasn't aware the cost of membership is 80% more than normal price ( paid $200 instead of $123 annually ) The agent deliberately didn't explain this clause, if he did I won't even bother to sign up at all ! The fee charged wasn't returnable ! So, this is definitely be the last round I was trapped and signed up with RAC !
Buyer beware
Buyer beware. RACV has dropped it’s standards over time. I was previously a long time customer but had let my membership lapse in light of good car reliability. This changed recently with an electrical issue that had my wife’s car dead in our driveway.
To get emergency roadside assistance immediately I needed to agree to a 2 year plan and being desperate agreed. 2 call-outs later did neither get the car going or correctly diagnosed. The post Covid servicemen and women are very young and seem mostly trained for calling tow trucks.
A mobile auto electrician had my car diagnosed in 1 hour as a faulty coil.
Excellent work from RACV
We broke down just out of St. Arnaud, in our motorhome. We contacted RACV, but unfortunately my husband cannot remember the name of the lady who assisted us. She arranged for a service man to come out ; he could not get our vehicle going, so she arranged an extra big tow truck to come and collect us. She also arranged for us to stay in a motel overnight, which included our St. Bernard dog,
We were driven back to Ballarat in the tow truck. This morning I spoke to Jacqui, who was also really helpful. Absolutely great service from both these ladies, they just organised everything we needed, and we have now been able to be transported back to our home in Melbourne, with our vehicle. Could not praise the response from RACV any higher. They rang back, kept us in the loop, and made an otherwise very stressful situation so much better. Thank you.
Dumped and left to rot at my cost
Broke down in another state from my home (NSW)car and caravan all day trying to get info from racv they finally called me 8pm to say call a few local mechanics for a diagnosis if cant be fixed will take you home tried 4 mechanics all have 2-4 weeks waiting list. Another 12 hrs later they call tell me not taking me home still need a diagnosis informed them of previous call told they will call me back again another few hrs go by they call and say car and van will go into storage at town broke down in told 2_4 weeks until truck goes my way and by the way no hire cars are available either. What the hell am i paying 2 total care packages for seems a complete waste of money. You break down it seems you are dumped no care at all and no communication between racv people time of writing im 6.5 hrs from home trapped no car no way home and probably have to pay my self. What complete waist of money no loyalty to long term customers at there worst.I am now going to be $2000-$2500 out of pocket getting me,my wife car and van home not RACV whats the point of TOTAL CARE they definitely do not care .
I would not suggest buying a battery…
I would not suggest buying a battery from RACV as I did vitally from the start this battery did not hold charge I called and the RACV bloke came out and said this battery only needs a good charge well after it got one I still ran flat within three days of sitting called them back again guess what battery is out of warranty all he was interested in was selling me another one I said to him your joking I will get a century battery better quality and better warranty
Very bad customer service
On February the 09th my mum had accident.
I lodged my claim. It wasn't until February 16th after I had called them multiple times regarding the claim as claim hasn't reported indicident to repairer. the car was eventually been assessed by the repair mechanic and assor IAG JOHN VASSILIOU till February19th . It is now currently 22nd of February and still not a single thing has been done on the car, even though the mechanic has a quote for the repair and has been ready to start working on the car for a month. I have been persistent with consent phone calls of around 2 or 3 a week and they still haven't done anything to help get the car repaired. They have giving me the run around, with hours spent simply on hold or waiting to get in contact with the call centre. They pushed us for Cash settlement which we haven't agreed. As we wanted to authorised mechanic to repair the car then they gave us 3to 4 months estimate repairing time.
Hopping this will get resolved ASAP as it has been a very time consuming and mental drawing experience as well it costing me money on car registration and insurance as mum doesnt have the car and can't drive. Called customer care multiple times they put me on hold each time more than 17min.
Is this how you deal with customers.
Very amature service.
Broke down at 2.00pm found out at…
Broke down at 2.00pm found out at 4.00pm car has to be towed with a wait of 7to8 hours and still waiting absolute joke racv wake up you don’t mind taking the payment but give nothing
Fantastic service
Following a recent breakdown, I got assistance from RACV. Most of the staff there are fantastic and very helpful. Not sure what we would have done without them! Can't believe I went so many years without a membership. Would recommend to anybody.
RACV not covering damage to incorrect Battery Installation
My elderly father called RACV Roadside assist to install a new battery on his car. After the new battery was installed it was discovered that the installer had not done the job correctly and had fried the Navigation chip inside the cars stereo system which incurred in a very expensive repair. The Mazda mechanic said that the new battery wasn't installed correctly which resulted in the damage to the vehicles entertainment system. My father has been a member with 2 vehicles for over 30 years and when he asked RACV to cover the cost of the repair, they have refused. Terrible service towards a loyal long term member and not owning up to their obligations to fix the problem. My father has tried to get this rectified but has given up due to RACV Roadside assist making things very difficult to claim and not owning up to the damage.
