Extremely long hold
Extremely long hold. the first person answered after an hour and a half, then they couldn't figure out what was going on with my id verification, so they sent me to another representative. I was on hold for another hour and a half only to be told by the representative that I was sent to the wrong department and put me back on hold. After my phone hit 3 hours and 40 minutes, my phone cut itself off. If it wasn't for my kids needing this money, I would never have bothered with them to begin with. I would never suggest them to anyone.

One star is more than they deserve, they decided an autopay was suspicious and shut my cards off several times, this time just before payday, haven't recieved my cards and payday was yesterday. Anybody on ssdi knows we are out of everything by payday and because direct express cares about profit not people I don't have cards to buy groceries. Called customer service several times after outrageously long wait times I got to talk to customer service reps who made it clear I don't matter I should shut up and deal with it and then hang up. Migrated to another provider, I am done with direct express and their rude uncaring attitude. Comerica bank should be proud.

I'm carrying an invalid card, but I wasn't told. It's Labor Day weekend, and I can't access my money. All due to Direct Express I have been holding for service for 93 minutes.

I would give e a zero or negative zero if I could .I purchased a laptop from Amazon and it wasn't what I wanted sent it back and got a refund .My debit card is set to expire at the end of August and direct express sent a new card to replace it .we got the refund but it went to the old card .You would think direct express would transfer it to the new card which makes more sense but no they want to do an investigation as to why the refund went to the old card which was still active when we made the purchase we activated our new card and it canceled out the card that is set to expire .so now we have to wait on a document to come in the mail and fill out a bunch of crap and wait 45 to 90 days to get our money back I dont see why they have to be so dumb at direct express they see the money in the account but will not transfer it to the new card .so we may or may or may not ever see our money again .

If I could give zero stars I would... the representative we talk to today was extremely rude towards me she was so rude she seem to not like her job....she was well spoken to my client but was very rude to me for some reason she was trying to argue with me when I said she was rude....I believe in customer service cause I have done it so many years but now im a cna and love to help people but from the way this lady sounded you didn't hear no enjoyment in her words she sounded like she was tired of her job honestly lol ...I don't get it if you choose that job or that kinda line of work to do that's your choice not your customers we the ones that call in when we have problems . are when its another situation concerning direct express ...In so many words its not our problem if you chosen this line of work if you dont like it quit and find something else that will put some enjoyment to your life....her customer service was ridiculous and yall should really talk your employees....

It takes 90-120 minutes to talk to an agent. Then you get a run around. Have spent a little over 6 hours on hold between 3 calls. My card was hacked & trying to activate the new card, still not activated. Can take 90 days to replace the stolen money. Not sure what country they are in but hard to understand & the agent said they only have a few agents & a lot of calls.

Can't resolve purchase denials. When you call in to direct express they say to call mastercard. You call mastercard and they automatically send you back to direct express. Nothing gets resolved!!!!

This is the biggest joke for a banking establishment I've ever been involved with. I would give minus stars if I could. Best advice for anyone who even thinks about using them, DON'T. They're a joke and not a funny one either. They have kept my friends money, over $15,000 for over 3 weeks now. It's caused him to loose his car, his insurance, his house, his dog died from not being able to feed him, hes lost all of his belongings and his dignity, and no where to turn or no where to go. He's now nearing a heart attack or stroke. He's already had a heat stroke and been hospitalized from their mistreatment of his monies. They asked for him to send in his ID, front and back, his SS card, front and back, and then to delay more his birth certificate. He sent it everyday for 2 and a half weeks. Then to hold his funds longer they say send it now by fax. Fax's were sent for another week. So what happened? Again they say didn't receive the information. Go figure. I believe someone wants a vacation, bonus, raise, something. Why else can't they release his monies? There's no reason in hell as to why anything can take this long. Maybe they are just a institution who keeps others money for their entertainment. Who knows but this is the most pathetic banking institution anywhere at anytime. So best advice, DONT LET THEM HAVE ONE PENNY TO CONTROL OR YOULL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN. Let me say again, minus stars is what they deserve. NOT YOUR FUNDS!! JOKE, JOKE, JOKE!!!!!

This provider is absolutely garbage. Not only do they steal from you, they don't have a proper costumer service phone set up and you can never get ahold of any real agent. If you are lucky enough to get to speak with a human they are rude, and can't do anything so they transfer you to another department... 17 times. This is a debit card for our disabled, and veterans whom receive GOVERNMENT benefits, and they are given such useless management for what most of them use with there only means of income. please please please save yourself the time money and hassle just have your benefits direct deposited into a bank account.

Well for starters customer service sucks. Either y'all need to hire workers or fire everyone who isn't. I have been on hold 57 minutes with no apologies. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I'm glad I'm not the one using this card. And I'm calling on the behalf of someone else... Direct Express you need to do better. Let me begin by saying this: I am beyond disgusted with the appalling, incompetent, and utterly ridiculous way Direct Express has handled my account. For over five months, you have had the audacity to hold MY money hostage, making me jump through endless hoops, answer nonsensical and invasive questions, and endure the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. And that’s saying something.
You are supposed to be a financial service. The bare minimum expectation is that you allow your customers access to THEIR funds. But somehow, you have managed to fail so epically at that basic function, I have to wonder: is this incompetence, or deliberate negligence? Because at this point, it certainly feels like theft.
Every time I’ve called, I’ve been passed around like a hot potato, told conflicting stories, asked the same absurd questions over and over again, and ultimately hung up on or left with no answers. What kind of operation are you running? Why are your representatives so clueless, unhelpful, and borderline robotic? No one can ever give a clear reason why my account is locked, why my money is frozen, or what you're actually doing to resolve anything.
And let’s talk about the “questions.” Are you seriously asking people to submit irrelevant paperwork, verify outdated or incorrect information, or prove their identity three, four, five times over? What game are you playing? Why are your security checks so unreasonably invasive and redundant when YOU already have my social, my ID, and my full verification history on file?
I’m done being patient. I’m done being polite. You have failed me, disrespected me, and robbed me of MONTHS of financial stability. This money isn’t a luxury. It’s not a bonus. It’s MY livelihood, and your gross mishandling of my account has caused me real emotional and financial damage. I’ve missed bills, been late on rent, and gone without basic necessities while my own funds sit in your greedy, locked-down system.
You are playing games with people’s lives, and it is absolutely unacceptable.
I demand that my funds be released IMMEDIATELY and that I receive a full explanation in writing of why this situation was allowed to drag on for so long. If you are unable or unwilling to fix this, believe me, I will escalate this complaint to every level imaginable – including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Better Business Bureau , my state’s Attorney General, and every social platform where others need to be warned about your shady and unethical practices.
This isn’t just bad customer service. It’s borderline criminal.

I reported card lost on 3rd of this month. It is now the 18th and these ass hats have failed to send out replacement card. Social security retirement is handled thru this card. I have not had access to money or making bill payments in this time. I have called every day for past week and been told to tough it out, it's coming. What a crock of poo. Now I've asked to have a card "expedited" because I cannot wait any longer. This slipshod organization is now extracting $17.60 from acct to make me wait another week for my funds! The lack of concern for my plight for what they've done is appalling. No fault of my own and being charged for someone else's incompetence doesn't sit right ya know? Comerica bank is administering this mess and is of no help either. Being late paying bills and penalties as well, no groceries, gasoline, and no Uber. Customer service is not a priority and is a misnomer. Had to vent, sorry for rambling but if you can avoid this company, do so.
