This review is about the quality of the food bought from Tesco's today. To say that it represents terrible value for money would be an understatement. I will never buy this brand again. The beef massaman curry had nothing resembling beef in it. The whole dish was bland and really inedible. The chicken dish was less offensive but a sandwich would have been a better option.
If the company think this will help grow their customer base, it needs to be back to the drawing board.
Yuck. Vile. Expensive. Overrated
What happened to yo sushi?
What happened to yo sushi?
Went for the first time since COVID to the selfridges chain in Birmingham and it's a mess! No idea why they still have a conveyer belt any more because everything has to be ordered through an app. Unless you fancy the same three dishes that have been cruising around for 2 hours like a dead fox in a canal, you're gonna have to place an order via your phone.
Prices are higher, quality is lower and your not allowed complimentary water or ginger any more. The water taps are gone and so are the service call buttons. We were seated without any utensils or condiments so had to wait ages to catch someone's attention before we could even start.
To top it off, a service charge was added only when paying, so you didn't see this as part of your total on the app before the staff take the payment.
It's nuts. They've basically removed the whole concept of yo sushi and how it works, so now your sitting uncomfortably at a bar staring at the same stale edamame pods doing infinite laps around the room, waiting for your orders to arrive like any other standard restaurant.
Great Food
Great Food, Great Staff.
Something’s are expensive others not so much.
I would recommend this place.
Over £6 for x3 Gyoza - overpriced
Over £6 for x3 Gyoza. I can buy a bag of them in Costco for around £9. Costs a small fortune to leave feeling full and satisfied. Won’t be going back, too expensive for what it is.
The worst sushi
The worst sushi ! Hard rice, brown avocado, sauces don’t taste right, greenery limp and browning - not looking or tasting fresh at all - taste is bland - used to be good but not anymore. Tesco in Chichester Kiosk.
Yo Sushi Bluewater is great
Yo Sushi Bluewater is great. Staff are super friendly and service is very quick!
Arndale yo sushi
Arndale, Manchester, Absolutely filthy , seating not adequate, toilet was disgusting broken and stained seat , bins overflowing, paper all over the floor , smell was horrific, poor service , , never be handing my money over again , and if your excuse is , well it’s Xmas, get more staff to cope with it
Long wait and poor quality
I ordered a take away box 'Beef teriyaki' at terminal 2, Heathrow airport. I was left waiting for 20 minutes. The staff saw me waiting, avoided eye contact and in the end someone told me they are struggling to get the beef ready. The staff behave as if they are not accountable for anything. The beef was chewy and of poor quality and the crunchy salad was virtually none existing. Another customer with a larger takeaway order was also left waiting for a long time.
Cancelled on us last minute
Booked a table a month ago plus in Manchester for this Saturday, just had email to say they have cancelled booking and no reason, number they give goes straight to voicemail. Absolutely disgusting way to treat people, should be ashamed of yourselves
Poor quality and tasting food, overpriced!
My son and I ate at the Belfast branch of Yo Sushi at 15.25, Table 10, order number 28. I was very disappointed with the experience. First, I found it odd that we couldn't place our order with the member of staff, but we were given a physical menu and instructed to order online using the QR code. We then found we couldn't order many of the items from the physical menu online as they weren't available in that restaurant, e.g., Ramen Chicken Teriyaki, Ramen Spicy Seafood and Chicken 2-ways. We finally ordered, ‘Bowls: teriyaki Served in a tempting, sticky soy glaze, topped with sesame and a fresh chilli kick. Dished up with steamed rice, pak choi & radish’, and ‘Korean fried chicken: Fried chicken, tossed in a tasty sweet and spicy Korean chilli sauce, dished up with steamed rice, pak choi & radish. Neither dish was served with pak choi & radish and so the former was simply a bowl of sticky rice with the teriyaki chicken and the latter was about 7 deep fried thin chicken nuggets made of reformed chicken breast (not chicken breast fillet) covered in sweet chilli sauce. I asked a member of staff about the missing pak choi and radish and the chef soon apologised and subsequently brought a raw leaf of pak choi and a sliced radish on a saucer for each of us. Although the staff were polite and pleasant, the availability of food items from the menu and quality and value of the food was very poor. The chicken teriyaki on rice cost £12.95 and Korean Chicken bowl cost £13.95 and was nothing more than chicken nuggets on rice and sweet chili sauce which is very poor value. Overall, my first visit to Yo Sushi was very disappointing and didn’t live up to the fresh, flavoursome, authentic Japanese food that the company purports to provide. I sent a complaint on their website on 1.11.23 and after receiving so contact, again on 4.12.23 and still no response. I think the way they deal with complaints, i.e., just ignoring them demonstrates their commitment to customer service, i.e, zero. Wouldn't recommend.
Rude staff
We arrived at yo sushi starving, there was barely 10 people in there at 8pm on a Friday night. We stood there for a good while before a member of staff walked past and said someone will come to you soon, unsure why she couldn’t tell us to sit down. Another member of staff came over and said she’d seat us once she cleared some tables, even though there was as I said only about 10 people in and plenty of empty tables already. We sat down and were given one menu between the both of us ( that was a first). While we looked at it others started to come through the door. When we asked if we could order the same member of staff from earlier pointed t a qr code and we were told to order through the app, I am visiting so did not want to be downloading apps, my friend asked if we could just order from a person (to be honest i prefer it as nicer experience). She rudely told us we’d have to wait as they were very busy.. yes busy seating people but not serving anyone already in and sat down for the last 15mins. With this rude unwelcoming tone we then decided to leave and take our custom to ZiZi’s across the way where we met with beaming smiles from staff who were more than happy to have us!
First time and last time!
Ate at yo sushi for the first time at the Swindon Outlet village. That will also be the last time I ever eat at Yo Sushi.
Food was not good, boring bland tasting dishes. They did not look fresh. So only tried two dishes between us. Worse than that was I got ill and had an upset tummy after eating there. I don’t think it’s a very hygienic place to eat at as everyone touches the bowls and probably opens and puts them back on the conveyor.
Please check packaging lids on YO Sushi…
Please check packaging lids on Taiko Foods YO Sushi food boxes sold in supermarkets. In September I purchased a YO Sushi take away food box from Sainsburys.
While eating this found a sharp object in my mouth. When I took the object out of my mouth it was sharp shard of plastic about 2cm long by 1/2 . Further investigation showed this had come from the box lid where there was a bevelled ridge. I was extremely worried that I might have already swallowed other pieces so checked the box carefully. I obviously hadn't noticed the lid was damaged when I bought it, and had rejected other boxes in the shelf because the lids weren't on securely and squashed and I was worried about contamination. I contacted Sainsburys customer line because that's where I purchased the food from and was told they didn't have a contract with YO Sushi/Taiko Foods and to contact Taiko Foods which I did. Still Perplexed and with difficulty I contacted the store directly ( option 2 for staff and they answer) and was told the same, no contract with this firm. I pointed out that there has to be a contract for Sainsburys to buy the products, YO Sushi, made by Taiko Foods. Reluctantly the person at the store agreed and said they would refund if I went back and very reluctantly gave their name only after being pressed for it. I didn't go back to the store because Taiko Foods replied and asked for the packaging, and even sent the post label with the postman. Taiko Foods apologised and seemed unhappy with Sainsburys response and offered a gesture of goodwill. Taiko decided there wasn't anything wrong basically with their packaging, but I disagree strongly. The gesture of goodwill was an empty offer because after asking me to supply bank details or I could opt for a cheque ( I opted for a cheque because I'm not happy putting my bank details in an email) it is now the end of November and I'm still waiting. Taiko haven't answered emails since the offer, 4 emails to date. I just wanted to highlight how dangerous this could have been and it is really worrying. A refund would have been both fair and nice. By the time I realised Taiko weren't going to honour their offer I had lost the receipt so havent been refunded by Sainsburys.
I will never buy anything with this type of lid again and seeing this type of packaging in other stores is a great worry.
Premium price for sub-prime service and quality
Quite disappointed. We’ve been eating at Yo! York For over a decade and the last 2 years it’s declined in service and quality, as well as rising in price. But last night we made the decision to not return to Yo! Again. Service was slow, even though it was relatively empty, the kitchen had ran out of so many ingredients that we had dishes repeatedly cancelled or changed. Miso soup had no tofu or seaweed in, menus were dirty, table was sticky, cutlery was scratched and dirty. They tried to charge us on the bill for items they’d already cancelled but not removed from the total. Conveyer belt was dirty and covered in detritus. Even though you order on an app they still have a service charge, our drinks didn’t arrive until near the end of the meal. Just one’s disappointment after another.
Brown avocado sushi
Brown avocado sushi. Yum
Just awful experience. Stopped going to Glasgow due to severe deterioration. Edinburgh was dirty, staff practically throwing food down. And the food on the belt was hours past the time it should have been removed.
Was our favourite sushi place but we’ll not be back
A long view of the decline of Yo!
I’ve been going to Yo! in Selfridges about once a month for years, and sometimes go to the one near Bond Street instead. Over all this time I’ve remained faithful to its central proposition but I have to say that it is getting increasingly tired and very understaffed. I find myself going less often. The food remains more or less the same though the range of options going past on the conveyor belt has really dropped off meaning that I personally (and I suspect many others) have to order what used to just go past and be grabbed. That would be fine but may people (me included) have struggled with their app and they don’t have enough staff to make ordering via a waitperson either quick or efficient.
Feels like the tail end of a good idea…
Very bad experience
Very bad experience. The place is overpriced. Small portions, the drinks and the food took ages to arrive and the rice from the sushi was warm. In the end the waiter also tried to charged me a service without telling me about it. He even offered me a discount for the waiting on food. What a shame. Never coming back to yo sushi Milton Keynes.
Would of been five star
I would have given this five star but the lack of service was terrible. Asked for help twice and no one came over, the food was also cold.
