Corrupt and dodgy organisation that takes your money and then closes its office (Middlesex) leaving people to pickup the pieces, pathetic company that has crooks working as building inspectors...
Forget these if there still trading a…
Forget these if there still trading a complete waste of a company! Chasing them to sign my 2 projects off for 15months and i have just got a email from them that as they didnt sign off before 1st Oct they can't sign off anymore so cancelled my projects without a refund. A complete joke of a company!!
Update to there reply....... it was that email address you asked me to contact you on below that told me your canceling both projects.
Maybe a reply from you makes people think your sorting this out.
I have to go court!!!!!

A terrible ongoing experience with…
A terrible ongoing experience with Assent Building Control - Approved Building Inspectors paid in full with nothing to show for it. A huge number of housholds and contractors are experiencing huge delays in obtaining final certification.
Failed promises by various members of the Team with regards to call backs and updates. Some staff members have shared that they are having 'houskeeping issues'.
With their Ealing Office having been shut down and according to companies house they have changed their trading name to: ASSENT BUILDING COMPLIANCE LIMITED on 17th September 2024 - Beware.
Before it's suggested @ Assent Building Control, I have already emailed numerous times but no joy in resolving the issue.
General public, if you are looking for a responsive building control company my advice is do your due dilligence prior to employing Assent Building Control / Compliance.
Extremely poor service and outright…
Extremely poor service and outright dishonest practices. We paid over 500£ for a building control services, however, after the first inspection the office servicing is had closed . We were no longer able to receive the inspections we needed and as such cancelled the service. This was at the beginning of August. Since then I have emailed numerous times requesting a refund to no avail. It is interesting to note the company does not have a customer service desk which I guess should tell you everything you need about it.

I would give 0 stars if I could.
My building project finished 6 months ago and no building control approval certificate has been provided. I have chased repeatedly. I've been told the team are very busy, well then don't take on new clients if you can't handle your existing workload. The Wivelsfield office mostly ignores my calls, emails and keeps promising to send the certificate but I've now been waiting months. It's affected my remortgage. I would AVOID this company at all costs and judging by the other reviews I am not alone.

Call customer services today
Call customer services today, not helpful at all and left me extremely frustrated.
Emailed Ealing on 22 Aug and 6 Sep and still not response. Call customer services today to understand what is going on and they were unable to help. Informed me that I had to email feedback, which I have on multiple occasions and not even had one single response.
How are a company operate like this?
Why use anyone else??
We are always confident we will receive a professional and attentive service whether that be from Maxine in the office or guidance from Ian on site inspections

Don't touch with a bargepole
The building inspector, Roger Stone, was in my opinion exceptionally negligent and unprofessional. He rarely visited, and never stayed more than a couple of minutes, despite our site being only 3 miles from his home (where he worked). He refused to give us a completion certificate until WE provided evidence of a certain structural component, long covered up. After threatening legal action another of their surveyors, Craig Newbound, was provided to advise us, but although very pleasant, his help was limited, and we and our builders had to do the work Mr Stone should have, which involved many hours trawling many redundant 'phones for pictures.
It took three-and-a-half years from building completion to certificate issue. No wonder they require payment in full up-front. Avoid these cowboys like the plague.

This company should absolutely be taken…
This company should absolutely be taken for a class action lawsuit. After shoddy inspections and changed expectations, the inspector quit, they closed our case after we were unable to get ahold of anyone and the staff at head office are unwilling to give us our lust of completed works. We paid them £1300 for building regulations just to be left with works that were reviewed and zero proof. AVOID like the plague. Head office was extremely rude and hung up on me.

Absolutely appalled by the way I have…
Absolutely appalled by the way I have been treated by Assent. I have had emails ignored by Heidi Laverick and was told by Admin staff they do not have enough staff to answer them.The admin staff have put the phone down and told me to stop ringing. Kate Moremont will not reply to texts, emails, and requests to speak to her and to add even more insult she answers her phone out of office hours whilst on holiday, Friday night 7.30…..you couldn’t write this.. The project Manager S.W tells me one thing the office tell me another, he tells me the office is lying, he tells me the company owes him money, he tells me never to use Assent again and he works for them. It was he who directed me to this and told me to look at the reviews. Just like the last review I have also had mine reverted back to the council and will have to pay again without even telling me. We were asked to put in amendment Material Change of Use - within 90 days from 31/7 which we have done but Kate Morement cancelled the notice on the 19/8/24 without even contacting us. I am not going to let this go. I have been told the project complies with building regs but will not sign off. I shall be writing to the CEO. All those who have had this problem report to trading standards and BSR. Would any body be interested in getting a face book page up and taking these to task by legal route. I have sent the ceo an email iain thomson

This company should be struck off as approved inspectors. They charged me and made a few visits to my job, at the end of the job without contacting me or explaining they handed the job to the local authority to sign off, and I had to pay again .
Avoid them - dont believe any of their inspectors or website info - they are likley to go bust anytime!

This company is continuing to con people since Ealing office closed early May, their inability to put a contingency plan in place shows there unprofessionalism, after calls/emails to request visits a notice by us was issued on the 27th July to give local authority authorisation to continue the inspections, a refund was requested but they are gaslighting & threatening police involvement (scared) to cease emails as their staff is upset!! Absolutely joke of a company & management. Advice to all, requested a refund as is your right with a notice to them & use you local council, you are entitled to money back for services not provided because I certainly won't be deterred by threats. 0 stars if it was possible.

Terrible service !!! My project was completed and provided all my evidence in 05/2024 , and I am told that all inspections has been done would issue the certificate shortly. But 07/2024 they sent email saying my project was cancelled and now has to go to local authorities!!! I have paid £960 and now they even do not want to reply any phone calls or emails .

Some issues but in the end came through
There were delays and a few hiccups along the way due their office in London closing. I called but was told to email my concerns but once I did this they acted fast, resolved the issues and issues our final certificate. Email is more helpful the phone.

Please, please do not use this appalling company. We had the misfortune of hiring Assent Building Control for our building project. Dealing with Assent has been a frustrating, stressful and deeply upsetting process that has ultimately resulted in us paying money for a service we didn’t get. In a nutshell, our project was cancelled, although Assent admitted they had all of the information necessary to issue a final sign off.
Assent are unprofessional and I find it astonishing that in 2024 these unscrupulous practices that they showed with us, and with countless others on TrustPilot, are allowed to happen. An inspection by regulators into all of our cases is most urgently needed.
I am an interior designer dealing with multiple house refurbishments for well over 15 years in South West London and I am often asked my views and recommendations for building control companies by clients, builders and architects, whether to go privately or with the council. I will never ever recommend Assent Building Control and will now actively go out of my way to tell my many clients and contacts about the appalling level of service, lack of communication, lack of care and accountability and sheer arrogance of this company.
No one of sound mind would instruct Assent if they knew the stress they have caused us. Due to the lack of respect and utter contempt Assent has shown, private residential projects are clearly not the business Assent want. Therefore avoid at all costs. They are shambolic, disorganised and impossible to contact.
And by the way Assent, please do not send your blanket response that you 'apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced’, please email feedback@, or communications@ and ‘that someone will look into this matter’….. After all, you know our case so well as we have been trying to get our sign off since January, 6 months of trying to just get the service we paid for. So please do not send your generic, frankly pointless reply. I join the huge and growing list of disappointed, frustrated, out of pocket individuals that made the bad choice of choosing Assent Building Control.
PS I have never seen such bad reviews for one company, 76% at least you excel in something.
Bashing my head against a perfectly constructed brick wall
Assent Building Control management are a despicable group of individuals and god forbid that you even have a claim against them for an error or omission which they have caused themselves. We had all the building surveys done throughout our home refurbishment project and the surveyors stated that all the work was done to an excellent standard. They attended all of the site inspections when requested and signed off all of the issues arising from the previous site visits, as you would expect. We then had some issues with our builder being unavailable towards the completion of the project due to cancer treatments and they cancelled our project. The information which they say they needed had actually been signed off by the surveyor, who was a London office manager, several months before as documented in the survey report, but when confronted with the documentary evidence that they had themselves approved the outstanding item, they simply refused to admit their mistake. We understand that people can make mistakes and technical detail can be overlooked in the heat of the moment, but we have now been through two rounds of farcical complaints procedure (one month each), including having had our files apparently looked at by a Director of the company and still they can’t admit their own major error and omission. We have spent months now continuously battling against a complete lack of telephone call reply from the surveyor, the compliance personnel and no email responses from Feedback@ and the risk and compliance director Kate Morement has never shown us the curtesy to answer any of our calls or reply to any of my repeated call back requests to reception in Wakefield. I feel very sorry for the lovely people on the reception desk who have to bat off my requests to speak to someone….anyone about this massive mistake that they themselves have made. So we paid up front, as we all have to do, we had a good experience during the surveys and all the work required to be signed off was completed to the highest of standards that they themselves demanded, as is right, and yet they cancelled our project. I have never had a business experience like this before and nor has our builder or anyone else we have talked to about this situation. They are arrogant, irrational, obviously very overworked because of the torrent of bad reviews coming in on an almost daily basis and I am just hoping I do not get a standard, ‘cut and paste’ response from communications or compliance saying ‘We are very sorry you had a bad experience and we’ll look into it”, because they just won’t. I feel angry, tired, upset and unable to see a way through the communications barricade. You win…again and I lose…..hope you can sleep well at night.
Had no work done but received a bill from this company
I have just recieved a bill for 228 pounds from this company for work i appranley had to my garage conversion. But i have had no work done to my house at all. So i rang them to ask why they had sent me a bill i was told they would look into it and ring me back. Not happy at all have no reply what so ever. Mr k Holmes

Professional negligence
Same experience as below, they completed final inspections over 3 months ago, asked for completion documents to be signed and we sent all evidence they required, gave us a deadline of end of august and today (8/8) without notice they cancelled the project.
We were also with Ealing office with Harvir and Rajvir who were responsible for leaving the mess behind when they claimed they left the job but we still received emails signed by them after this date. The compliance director Kate is showing professional negligence by not adhering to the deadlines and cancelling on false pre-tenses when they have all information required to issue the final completion certificates. They of course took payment first that we will be taking them to court for to reclaim given the professional negligence they have shown.
They do not reply to any emails or pick up phones.

My project was managed by the Ealing office. All I had to do was to send the completion declaration to them, as the building work finished, when the Ealing office team left Assent/Oculus.
Each time I ring Assent Building control/Oculus Building consultancy I am told I cannot talk to any person, I have to send emails.
I have sent them many emails, attaching the declaration of completion document, and I have never received any answer.
Today they have sent a cancellation notice to the council, I obviously called them to talk about this, but once again, I was told to send an email....
My building work is finished, they have taken our money and just walked away...(you have to pay all fees when the work starts)
I have seen Assent BC replying to many reviews saying they were going to investigate the issues reported and asking to write to the feedback and ealing email addresses. Please note these are the emails I have been writing to before posting this here and my only reply was the cancellation sent to the council.
