Absolutely horrific company – avoid at all costs! 1 star is too generous for these absolute cowboys!

I have had 3 different inspectors on the job, all of whom have told me different things and asked for different drawings. The third inspector I am dealing with, a guy called Paul Henry, who is supposedly a ‘regional manager’ clearly has no interest in my project and I suspect is just trying to make me go away by asking for ridiculously detailed drawings – he even asked for an architect drawing of an existing door!!!!

They very rarely answer phones or respond to emails – even head office fobs you off when you ring them and says that you need to ring the regional branch – just a nightmare to try and communicate with!

I will certainly be making a formal complaint to the CICAIR and would urge others who have had a similar experience to do the same, companies like this should not be able to continue to operate in this way and treat customers so badly.

I have had to have a single floor extension built for a bedroom and wet room. I am disabled, using a wheelchair and can no longer cope with stairs.
Despite being assured we could reach the inspector for support and guidance, by phone, they never answer nor do they respond to voicemails. I have emailed them and this is a problem too.
Due to poor workmanship by the buiider and his team Ive dispensed with them and will be taking further action. The whole roof has had to be stripped back and all replaced, the water pipes in the wet room had to be changed and now the waste and foul pipes are having to be dug up and moved due to their sheer incompetence. I could list a number of other issues too. I'm tearing my hair out, having to pay out again to get the issues fixed and the stress is unbearable. I'm virtually living in the one room. I would never recommend the inspectors or builders to anyone, not if you want a stress free build and a bit of cash in your purse. It's odd that the builder recommended using this company saying the build and the sign off would be much quicker. 4 months down the line (started August and its still ongoing) I'm still not able to live as I need and theres so much still to do.

I cannot believe the lady that picked up the phone this morning- I could already tell she was in a bad mood - I wanted to ask simple questions about my job, as I’ve only dealt with the council and not private building control. She seemed only concerned about send me a link for payments. I wanted to ask, if I did appointed the company will it affects me waiting for a certificate for previous job, but I couldn’t get a word in edgeways - she put me off as an could not ask anything… she said it’s not for me to comment, but the thing is I wasn’t asking to comment I was asking, would it be alright if I chose their company whilst I was waiting for a certificate & would it affect anything?

Problems started at final inspection of 2 detached new build houses.original inspector has left, his replacement did the inspection including drainage test, all good, however he did not want to examine the home user guide(contents are all test,commissioning and epc certs) these had to be sent on to him electronically, this was done 1 hour later. Here we are now 2 weeks later no cert, apparently a plan check is required, I only paid for that service and issued the information 2 years ago, the now absent inspector, inspected all relevant stages but didn't process the information, now we cannot get a certificate, due to their incompetence

Great support and good communication throughout the project. Sound advice and guidance provided where needed and a really speedy response to queries. Took the stress out of the process. Good value for money.

A pleasant enough chap inspected our building project but didn't turn up for completion until almost a year after it finished. Five months have passed since the final inspection and despite repeated assurances that all is well and that a certificate would be posted within a couple of days, still no certificate has been issued. I am sure they have an experienced and qualified team but their delivery in my case has been nonexistent. I would now actively discourage others from risking their business with this outfit and that is very disappopinting.

UPDATE: The problem turned out to be related to an ongoing issue between my builder and the surveyor. I now have the certificate.

Extremy poor with their communication and professionalism. Building officer will never answer his phone and will then get his office to phone back and say they aren't taking on more work.

Bill Collins from AssentBC really made my building experience really smooth. Answered all my calls. Gave me good advice throughout the process. Checked in at each stage and ensure my Building Completion certificate was provided on time.

My Building inspector will hardly answer my calls when I have questions. I doubt he even cares about our job.
he is pally with the builders but I am his client, not the builders.

Our project started March 2022 and we used Asset on advice of the architect. They were a shambles from outset. A few months ago they even provided me with a completion schedule for somebody else's project. Now, we have been trying to proceed to a completion certificate for over 6 months but have got nowhere because Assent don't respond. Again and again my architect has told me Assent have promised to respond by a deadline, only for this to pass in silence, leaving it to us to chase them again. It's like Groundhog Day. Now we have to decide whether to sack them and go with someone else, involving further delay and expense, and potential legal action on my part. Do yourself a favour, and look elsewhere.

Absolute joke, they don't keep track of anything and then ask for a mile long list of photos, videos, proof of this and that right at the very end of the job, raising issues that could have been identified on submission of drawings, retrospectively asking for things to be done differently to what the drawings show, bad communication, arrogant inspectors and condescending tone of emails, not to mention the time it takes them to get anything out to sign off the job, if you know what's good for you, use a company that has decent reviews.

Our Extension was completed in January this year. Everything was completed (and confirmed). We asked them for the sign off or further advice? We've emailed and called, left messages, requested updates for over 4 months. Their lack of communication and replies is astonishing. Very unprofessional. They do not even have the curtesy to get back. We're planning to make a formal complaint and get them struck off.

Do Not Use them.

Polite, pleasant, and helpful. Assent made the whole process stress-free. I would highly recommend.

I have been dealing with this company for 6 years as they were hired to sign off my building control for my loft and ground floor extension. This was never signed off as the inspector left the company. I have been dealing with his replacement who is utterly useless and doesn't respond to emails. This company is ridiculous. If I could give a zero star I would.
Update as of 29th march 2023, Michaela from the QA team contacted me straightaway and managed to sort the issue out in a matter of days rather than years. This has now been resolved. I am extremely grateful to Michaela.
