Problem with car= you won’t get help

Okey, so i changed my rating from 2 to a 3 star.. read why.Me and my partner rented a car and from the first day our display didn't work. i.e. the radio, the volume, the regulation.. everything. we contacted Campervanvillage but they just forwarded us to Roadsideteam who gave no help at all. Our AC didn't work properly either. Where it switched from just blowing air to blowing proper cold air. You know when an AC is working. 4 weeks of constant writing with both the roadside team and the Support at Campervanvillage who only sent me between each other, then roadside booked an appointment with the mechanic. Where they stated that they were wrong with the AC but on the spot only gave a temporary solution which they thought would last until we returned the car 3 weeks later but which it didn't. The display was wrong from the inside which they couldn't fix on the spot and we still had to go without it. I think everyone can agree that listening to music while road tripping creates amazing memories and vibes something we couldn't. Also, sitting in a well-cooled car without sweating is something of a comfort you strive for in tropical climates, which we also couldn't experience because of the broken AC. I recommend not booking with these but finding another website/company because if there is something wrong with the car you get, you will not get help. After some time I finally got a compensation back but a very small one compared to the problem and what i paid for but that’s the reason i also changed from a 2 to 3 star because at last they gave you something back.
And the car removed the problem, was good, we freecamped the whole time for 50 days, the freezer was enough with food for 2-3 days so the car was good but tho we had to buy another fan for 1 is just not enough.

When contacting the reservations team with these questions, our customers are therefore re-directed to contact Roadside. This way there is no confusion and there is one team with all the information about the incident. We are sorry the mechanic that was arranged wasn't able to provide a better solution for the AC and Radio. As you are aware this has been escalated and a partial refund has been provided.

Start of January we rented a campervan via Campervan Village from Hobart for a week. When we arrived at the rental place, the woman there told us our car was not ready yet. After a couple of minutes she got us a replacement vehicle, which was a manual and not an automatic like we ordered, but as we wanted to be on our way we accepted. Actually this was a Wicked Campers campervan.

The campervan was horrific. For the price we paid, we did not expect to get such a crappy van. The tires were worn out to the point where they are not roadworthy, the sink was leaking so much that we couldn't do our dishes in it, the ceiling of the van was loose and hanging so that I couldn't sit up right while driving and the pans that came with the van were so bad that we decided to buy a new pan at K-mart to be able to make dinner for 2. Worst of all by far though, was the bed in this van. It was hard as rocks and we woke up multiple times at night due to sore backs and shoulders. Eventually we bought an air matress to be able to sleep a bit better

Of course we did let them know about all this and they told us roadside assistance would be able to help us out. After a few days of going back and forth he offered to refund the pan we bought and the air matress we bought, but he couldn't do much else. Customer service then went in discussion with the board and they agreed to settle the dispute by offering us 150 dollars (which is not a big amount compared to what we paid). Fortunately we read the agreement they sent us well, because it mentioned that if we would tell anyone about the settlement agreement that we made or would leave any review or feedback that could harm there company, we would get a 25,000 dollar fine!! Obviously we did not sign that.

All in all a very bad experience and I do not recommend anyone booking a campervan with them. Please avoid this company at all times for your own sake.

Thanks for your feedback. Due to the nature of vehicle hire businesses, unforeseen circumstances can occasionally arise, for example, if vans are returned damaged or late by the previous customer. While in most cases we are able to swiftly work this out behind the scenes, in rare cases during the busy peak period delays may occur. We are sorry the vehicle designated for you wasn't ready to go and this impacted the start of your holiday! We like to offer alternatives and as we had no other Campervan Village vehicle available we offered a Wicked Camper Mystery Machine if you wanted to leave sooner instead of waiting for the booked Aventus to be ready. It was your choice to accept this vehicle. Note that therfore this is an entirely different vehicle, with different specification, different age and interior and different brand you are reviewing here.
Our records show a refund was provided for the pan and air mattress you purchased. A further refund was offered with the condition not to negatively review Campervan Village, as you did not receive an Aventus or Campervan Village branded vehicle. We can see you declined this refund.

BED ON WHEELS

It was a very easy and versatile van to drive. We could go anywhere with ease, set up camp or go into town and shop. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was extra handy bonus for camping. The only downside was it was quite heavy on fuel.

Very happy!

We rented the Johnny Feelgood for about 6 weeks and generally, we were very happy. We had to clean it a little bit when we got it and the fan did not work so we had to return to get a new fan. But a lot was really good. The customer support was nice, the car was good as well as the equipment. Also, we got the bond back in time (They write that it takes between 7 to 21 days. We got it back after 10-12 days).
For 5 stars I would expect to have it cleaned better but other than that it was perfect.

Recommended company

Easy online booking and paying. The guys already know me due to the uploaded documents, therefore no paperwork at pickup. . Easy return, just gave back the car keys. The campervan was nice, works well, no problems at all. Very friendly guys there. We had a unforgettable journey.

Such a great experience from start to finish. Really appreciated how genuine the staff were, after a pretty horrid time renting another vehicle we were really worried about being scammed again. These guys proved that there are genuine companies out there who really want you to enjoy your trip! The Johnny Feelgood was a great van.

UNBEATABLE EXPERIENCE

Honestly, our experience with RTE Backpackers was unbeatable. The caravan we booked was in perfect condition and we can say that it was a very good quality price despite having booked it with such short notice. But without a doubt, what we liked the most was the service we received. At all times they responded very kindly and quickly to all the questions we had and made us feel very safe, informed, and supported. They returned the bond to us a few days later and the entire check-in and drop-off process was very simple. Without a doubt, we will repeat with them.

complaint

I rented a campervan from you for 4 weeks and I paid a bond of 5000 dollars (3146.80 euros). After returning the Van I had to wait a long time for the money to be returned. everything turned out to be fine and I would get my bond back. Now I see that I get 180 euros less (2962.12 euros) than I paid as bond. Can you explain that? I have sent several emails but I have not heard from you again. if this is normal then I would'nt recommend you!!

Hi Ans, please note our average processing time for bonds is 7 days after drop off but it can take up to 21 days to release them. Bonds only get released once vehicles have been checked over by the mechanic for damage and this process may take a bit longer. Regarding the discrepancy in your bond payment, please note that a non-refundable merchant fee was charged to process the bond and it is important to keep in mind that bonds are always charged in the local currency. Your bank may have charged a conversion fee or international card usage fee. Most likely your bank will also use different exchange rates depending on if you are paying or receiving an amount, as this is one of the ways how banks operate and make money. These fees and rates are out of our control. Please speak to your bank directly to find out further details. This is the reason why we recommend to always at least go for Liability Reduction 1 to reduce the liability but also to avoid any unwanted bank fees. We hope this clears things up. CROOKS !!

The mattress was very very very hard and we slept badly. In addition to renting a very expensive van, the cushions and blankets are not included but are extra and I find that unacceptable (if you rent a van for 2 weeks it's to sleep in it, right?). The gas stove is also extra (there's everything you need to cook, but the most important thing is missing, the big joke!).
We still haven't received our $500 deposit 3 weeks after returning it, and I have a feeling we'll never see it again. Impossible to talk to anyone, you're crooks and thieves, it hurts you too much to return people's deposits - you're disgusting!

Hi there, I am disappointed to read your feedback given that we pride ourselves on good customer service & are really proud of Johnny Feelgood which was launched in April this year.

Can you please get in touch if you still need help with your bond preauthorization? We can send you a letter for your bank to release the frozen funds. We released your bond on 23/10 and confirmed this via email. Please note that we never deducted the bond from your account, it was always just frozen. Also, please note that you should not see the funds show on your bank statement as the funds were simply held and never deducted. However, we have noticed a trend now with certain banks not releasing the pre-auths/or showing them as charges when in fact we only ever freeze the agreed rental amounts.  
Please email admin@campervanvillage.com if you require a letter for your bank to get the funds released.

Regarding your other raised points, can you please advise if you have been made aware by your booking agent that bedding is only available as an extra? Also, can you please advise where you read that the gas stove is extra? All our vehicles come with gas stoves and the fee is included in the rental price. With Johnny Feelgood we provide a 2nd gas cooker free of charge and with the budget vehicle Aventus, a 2nd cooker can get added on for $20. Regarding bedding, we state very clearly that bedding is not included in the rental rate and must be added on at the time of booking with Johnny Feelgood to assure the depots have it ready at pick up. We were initially given a camper that…

We were initially given a camper that was not road worthy. Bald tyres, no aircon, flat battery the next morning and then the back tyre came loose as we were travelling 100km on a highway.
This was rectified with a replacement van that was in full working order and the mechanic delivered it to us on a Sunday.
We were not compensated in any way and when we dropped the van back got excuses instead of an apology.

Perfect from A to Z

Perfect from A to Z, we chose the Johnny Campervan and it was just so nice. Everything inside to go camping, big mattress and 2 fridges.
Easy to drive, you can park everywhere to sleep.
Would recommend 100%.

Picking up our van was great

Picking up our van was absolutely straight forward and the van was explained to us very well except for a couple of things.
1. I didn’t realize the fuel tank was empty until we were on a freeway out of Brisbane. I am so used to hiring vehicles with a full tank and returning them the same it just didn’t occur to me it would be otherwise. It wasn’t too much of a drama but it would have been nice to be told this.
2. The van was perfect for our needs and the basic kitchen set up was also fine with little gas cookers supplied. Again we should have been told when we picked it up that we would need to purchase gas bottles, which I would have been more than happy to do. Unfortunately we didn’t find out until we were an hours drive from anywhere we could purchase them.
They were my only two issues.
I would definitely hire this van again.
