Terrible Customer Service, Do Not Adhere to their OWN 'Warranty' or to Consumer Rights

I had my MacBook keyboard replaced here and initially I could not recommend them enough.
However just under 6 months later a fault has developed with the replacement part due to the quality. iRepair are refusing to resolve the issue, despite it being within their own ‘warranty’ and covered under consumer rights.
I will not be recommending or returning again. Report now submitted to trading standards for review.

Avoid , very poor

Extremely poor , avoid . Attempted too repair cracked iPhone screen , when it shattered after minimal pressure within a day they refused to fix saying it was due to underlying fault behind screen. I argued that if this was the case then I should have been informed of this before initial repair. Warranty is useless .

Walked into shop and was advised it was…

Walked into shop and was advised it was closed. Website says open from 11.00am, today 11 January 2021. Was asked what I wanted. I said I wished to sell some iPhones. Was advised they were not buying anything at present.
It would be responsible and considerate if you had up to date information on your website. People to not want to make unnecessary journeys or connect with people they could have avoided.

This place is a scam

My 2015 iMac had failure on the SSD part of the Fusion Drive. The Apple Store quoted approx £380 to replace the 128GB SSD NAND so I decided to replace the HDD part with an SSD instead.

I would normally do PC repairs myself but opening the case of an Apple iMac is not something I would want to attempt.

I contacted iRepair by telephone and was given a quote of £185 to replace the HDD with their own 500GB SSD or £50 labour if I provided my own SSD.

I drove about 40 minutes to get to the store and when I got there, the guy (I think Paul) said that I would need to pay for a diagnostic. I told him it didn't need one and I don't want them to do it. I only want to pay them to swap the drives over. He argued with me about this.

I told him I had been quoted £185. He looked disgusted and said this was incorrect and the price was FROM £185. I asked what factors could possibly make it more than the £185 I had been quoted and he could not or would not give me a straight answer or a price. Just that I would be contacted later by telephone.

I left my iMac in the shop and was about to leave when he said that I had to pay £35. I thought this was for a deposit. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and saw that the description was for a diagnostic!!

I also noticed their own computer keyboard was broken in their store and they were selling PoundLand iPhone chargers for £10.

When I got home, I was glad I read these reviews. I thought if these people are going to argue with me when I take my device in for repair, what are they going to be like if they cause more damage or there is an issue afterwards?

I realised they were about to scam me so I phoned them and told them not to touch it. I collected it from the store as soon as possible after Christmas and was relieved to get the iMac back and a refund of the "diagnostic fee".

This was a lucky escape. I think their standard practice is to make customers pay the diagnostic fee, and then charge a much higher price. When customers have already paid for the "diagnostic", most will feel that they then have pay the higher cost of repair.

I'm lucky that I'm technically minded and was able to spot the scam and all I lost was the fuel money getting to the store. I fear that they are taking advantage of a lot of vulnerable people. I'm reporting them to Trading Standards.

Misleading price lists, avoid

Misleading information on the website, hoping to pray on vulnerable people who might not be as knowledgeable as they are.
Took an Ipad 5th generation in for repair which their website states costs £59. Tried to argue with me that it would cost £129 because its actually a "5th Generation Mini", which is not listed on their site. This price is not listed on their website under any of the Mini series and seems to have been plucked from the ether.
Any reasonable consumer, given the lack of dimension specification on the website, would assume that the price list covered all 5th Generation Ipads.
Have sought legal advice from trading standards as definitely an intentionally misleading service intended to dupe consumers. I would recommend avoiding at all costs unless you intend to have your goods held to ransom until you pay their misleading fees.
They also accept only cash, no cards, which suggests to me that they know they will be subject to many chargebacks

I had an absolutely awful experience…

I had an absolutely awful experience with these guys. Both the job they did and the customer service I received was appalling. If you can find another option (difficult in Glasgow), I would totally recommend avoiding iRepair. I feel like I have been pretty conned.

My laptop keyboard wasn’t working so I booked it in for diagnostics, and was told over the phone that the keyboard was faulty. I then booked it to get this fixed and for a full service for £125, which seemed very reasonable. So far so good.

When I received it back, the mistake I made was not testing the laptop in the shop immediately. I took it home and though the keyboard was new, the return key was completely stuck, I couldn’t turn off caps lock (so I couldn’t type in my password), and a couple of other keys weren’t working. The keyboard and screen were really grubby so I wiped both down with a damp cloth and screen cleaner. Something I have done a hundred times before.

When I took it back to iRepair under their 180 day warranty, they told me that they had accidentally left a bit of paper under the return key (??!) but the rest of the keys weren’t working because of water damage. When I protested this, the guy said to me “You may as well tell us the truth.” Basically accusing me of lying. He said that the new keyboard was now damaged and they would need to put another new one in, at a cost of £65. Oh, and the warranty was now void.

I need my laptop for work, and as they were basically no holding it hostage, I conceded to pay the ransom and get it back. When I went back in, I tested it in the shop this time. And as soon as I turned it on, it shut down and wouldn’t turn back on without a charger attached. I said that I wouldn’t accept it back in this condition, and they said they would have to run further “stress tests” (on me or the laptop?) so I was to come back in another couple of days.

When I went back in AGAIN, they couldn’t find the laptop. I waited ten minutes while a (admittedly different) iRepair worker tried to locate me in the system. When I finally got the laptop and turned it on - all of my browser tabs, open programmes etc were gone. I asked the guy if my open tabs had been saved on a document, as I had not been consulted about these being lost, and this was of course not the case. I spoke to a more senior colleague over the phone to raise my problem, and simply request a discount on the further £65 I was being forced to pay, and he just kept interrupting and talking over me. At iRepair, apparently the customer is always wrong.

The cherry on top. Just as I was leaving, I realised that the back of my laptop case (the bit that goes on the bottom of the laptop to protect it) wasn’t attached, so I asked for it back. The guy again then disappeared into the back of the shop, was on the phone for 10 minutes etc, and then emerged to tell me they couldn’t find it. When I followed up with a more senior colleague about this again, I was told they would check their cameras to see if the back was on it and where it was!

I work in a very public facing industry, and am aware that dealing with members of the public can be difficult. But these guys got it about as wrong as it is possible to do, and while my laptop is now working again, I feel like I have been totally taken advantage of. Really think hard about whether you want to go through a similar experience before you use them.

Refuse to repair faulty goods they sold

I bought some iPods from this shop in July. They have never worked and so I brought them back to be repaired. At first the man said I should bring them back in a couple of days as he didn’t have time to look at them right now; I explained that I hadn’t got a receipt but only need the things to be repaired rather than exchanged for new.
On return I was told that they wouldn’t take the AirPods without a receipt AND the original box (the latter never mentioned on previous visit).
When I explained that the seller of a faulty product is bound to repair them under consumer protection law they denied and became extremely rude. They say they need to have the box to prove the serial number to prove they sold the device - this is of course nonsense since they can get the number from the device itself.
I’ve bought things from this shop fairly regularly but won’t do so again and advise others to avoid them like the plague.

Irepair Shawlands unprofessional, unethical

Irepair Shawlands claim repairs are covered with 180 warranty and that is fake news and a lie. They are unprofessional, unethical, condescending and do a terrible job. Be warned.

In June 2020, I brought my Iphone SE to Irepair Shawlands to replace the battery and repair a faulty home screen button. These were repaired for £64 pounds. After I had left the I noted the screen wasn’t attached to the base, but the phone was working. I have been away from Glasgow and couldn’t take the phone back asap. However, on 29 August 2020, I returned to the shop and explained the issue to a middle-aged Asian man, who refused to tell me his name. This was the same person who had repaired the phone. I explained to him that the phone is working fine but the screen wasn’t attached to the base. He accused me of lying saying ‘We wouldn’t give you the phone back in that state.’ And that he wasn’t going to repair until I admitted I had dropped the phone. I couldn’t admit something which I didn’t do. This man was condescending, unprofessional and unethical. He repeatedly asked to accept his version of what happened if I want it to be repaired. I couldn’t not. He marshalled me out of the shop. He said I shouldn’t return to the shop. Seriously? Why should I?

I warn prospective customers to go stay from this shop if they want a respectful, honest, ethical professional service. Handing your phone to be repaired is one of the most crucial things in this modern age when phones have become integral to our everyday life, holding private information.

Honestly don’t bother, buy a new one!

Honestly, I am fuming 😤. I sent two bots over (£75) each just to send, two went two never came back, to and throwing off emails, calls! Finally after 10weeks got one back without docking station! More emails, calls, received docking station ! No second bot? Said in the post! Asked for tracking number, never got one, finally another fortnight and it appears. They are both ok, still having issues £300 later! Could have purchased a new one/two for the costs. I would not recommend this company at all.

Terrible Service

Was on holiday in Glasgow for the week and I had dropped my phone and smashed it. Went onto google and found this place. when I first entered the store the staff seemed alright, shop looked professional which put me at ease. After getting into a conversation with the staff he became very rude and pushy, trying to push me to buy accessories that I did not want. They told me 30 minutes for the repair but I came back 2 hours later and the phone was still not ready. At this point It got really disappointing, so much for "Professional." I got told to come back later so i did, when i collected my phone the screen quality was horribly cheap and had this ugly blue look to it. All my apps look discoloured and fake. At this point I realised that this shop was not professional at all. After using it for a day I noticed there was a yellow spot on the screen, so again I took a trip back down to the "Professional" repair shop. When I entered the shop the guy at the front recognised me and said "oh its you again." I took this as an extremely rude and disrespectful comment. I explained the situation and the yellow spot on the screen and they told me they would sort it out. So here I was again leaving the store being told to come back in 30 minutes, but just like earlier before after 45 minutes they still didn't have the phone ready. They said that the screen could not be repaired as the yellow mark on the screen was damage that I had done therefor could not be repaired under warranty. I was extremely annoyed off and at this point I had spent about a day running about after this company just to fix my screen. The outcome of this was me going back to America with a cheap quality blue screen with yellow marks on it. £79.99 down the drain for no reason, got it fixed when i came back home and they told me that screws had been left out of the phone. So not only did they put a fake screen on, they also took screws from my phone.

iRepair? - more like iRipyouoff

Never judge a book by its cover.
Professional on the outside - Garbage on the inside.

Absolutely terrible shop in Southend

Absolutely terrible shop in Southend. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Sold 2 aux cables that didn't work and then had the cheek to tell us they couldn't refund us and only give store credit. After literally begging for a refund and being laughed at because the aux cables didn't work. The employee called his manager which took around 15 mins and eventually gave us a £20 refund. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE

Excellent Service

Today I went to iRepairscotland in West End area of Glasgow as that place close to my university. I asked for help related to my external hard drive. The technician, SAAD, he helped me to fix it and also gave me an advice in choosing external hard drive in the future. He gave service patiently. I did not spend long time there because of quick service. Thank you as well for SHEREEN, at customer desk. You guys are very good in service and friendly. I definitely come back to you when I have problem related to gadget. Thank you.
